Burgers were good but not a fan of the shoestring fries. Also, it took almost :45 to get them on a non-busy weekday night. Lastly, the place is not kid-friendly. Not blaming the establishment, just a head's up. Kids cannot go inside due to poker machines and even though there are seats outside you can't really control who sits nest to you. I love Mama's Place. I brought some out of town friends here to pregame before a Mardi Gras parade. We had great food and drinks to keep us going through the parade. I came May 1st to Mama's to eat dinner with my family. Unfortunately, they had this modified Jazz Fest menu for no good reason. The bar was less than half filled. So the main menu included crawfish, snow crab legs, lobster, and royal red shrimp which have zero seasoning. The rest of the limited menu included bar type appetizers. And to be fair, they also had a burger on the menu. None of the awesome dish's that they normally have. I am very upset at this limited menu. If an establishment is going to do this, they should at least warn potential customers on their website. read more

Although I am 21 years of age as of august this year, when i walked into mamas place looking for a fun time (maybe watch a game and grab some snacks and drinks) in my fun costume, i was immediately met with harsh judgement. The bartender asked to see my Id, and when i handed it it to her she harshly refused service. The ambiance of the costumers and waiters was rude, and not fun like a sports bar should be. As far as a sports bar, this place is perfect and they make a great cheeseburger. Unfortunately the fries were ice cold otherwise they would've gotten a five. I love almost everything about Mama's Place. It's in the middle of a quiet, residential neighborhood, with a lot of comfortable (seasonably) outdoor seating, and it just blends in with the neighborhood very nicely. I've eaten here a few times - catfish po-boy, burgers, meatballs & spaghetti, and the food has been really, really good every time. The "almost everything" part of my review is the service. Sometimes the service is okay, especially if you eat at the bar. Sometimes the service is downright horrible. I've got friends who say they love the food but won't go there because of the service. It's particularly tricky with the outdoor seating - it's not always clear if they do table service or if you have to go inside to order. Either way is fine, but you should go inside and ask first - it's just not clear. Honestly, one or two of the servers seem to take pride in being a little surly, and when I've been there on really busy evenings, I've had incredibly long waits for food - on one occasion we finally figured out that my sandwich had just been enjoyed by the next table over, who ordered quite a bit after I did. But the food really is good, and if the weather is nice, the outdoor environment really is pleasant. read more

Mama's Place is a fantastic neighborhood bar which for a small joint puts out far above average food for a bar this size. They have great service, food and drinks along with decorating to the maximum for holidays. Mama's Place is known for having a really good bar food menu with some really nice choices that also include great burger options along with impressive daily specials and the best steak of any steak night I've tried at all the bars that offer steak night. They also have a great off menu item that is sometimes featured as a special which is the steak sandwich which is a really nice item to sample. This is a bar with mostly outdoor seating if you are coming here just for the food, know you'll be outdoors. It is also in a residential area which is a little odd but isn't all of Louisiana? My son & I went last night. First we were ignored at the bar. When someone finally spoke to us, we were told to go find a table outside & someone would wait on us. Again we waited, finally the woman behind the came to our table & acted like this was the first time she saw us. We placed our drink & meal order. Seemed like another 10 minutes or so, and she brings out our drinks. My wine glass had bright pink lipstick. No way she could have missed this, but she acted like she was surprised. The food was just ok. I got a salad & my son got the shrimp quesadilla. I think my son was a little embarrassed, he lives in the neighborhood and had good experiences before. About noon on 4.29.2022, I visited Mama's Place. My son and I went for lunch at the recommendation of a friend who said Mama's has the best burgers in the city. I ordered Mama's Big Burger and my son the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. With the burger came fries and the wrap potato salad. The burger is legit. It is a great burger and I will be back. Best in the city? I don't know? Plenty great burgers out there making it a tough acclamation. My son said his wrap was good. He didn't eat the potato salad so I ate it for him. Again, good potato salad. I know in NOLA, everyone wants to have the best potato salad. Relax, my Maw Maw had the best. In the end, great experience. We got of the plane hungry looking for a place to eat and found this 5 star sports grill in the middle of a very quaint neighborhood. We walked in and found the atmosphere to be very pleasant with customers who all seemed to know each other. The waitress let us know everything was home cooked and invited us to sit on the patio. This is a great dive, the staff are amazing especially Zoe, she makes everyone feels special, beautiful person that makes you want to come back, the steak dinner was amazing, didn't expect it from a bar, it's tender cooked perfectly, the only reason why I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 is they were out of bread pudding. I gave a two star rating because of the owner and the kitchen staff. Today was our third and final visit to this establishment. First visit was March 19th around noon. We stopped after a good friend told us how good the burger was and he wasn't wrong. We were so impressed we went back the next day for boiled crawfish. Not sure what to expect because of the Irish Italian parade that day. They weren't busy yet but well staffed. Here's where the first problem comes in. There were three bartenders and the owner was taking her stress out on one. She was barking orders at this woman like she was beneath her. This woman was running food, taking orders and doing a good job while the other two casually stood at the bar talking to regular guests. Matter of fact one of them had so much free time, I learned how you came to own this gem after being in the medical field and the high turn over rate you have in employees. I couldn't imagine why! Second problem was today. We decided maybe it was a bad day for you and we'd give it another shot. However your kitchen staff must have adopted your poor, negative approach in handling problems. I ordered a medium burger that came out medium rare ( lukewarm and very red ). When I sent it back your cook was so unprofessional about it I could hear him from where I was sitting. I wanted it slightly pink, not medium well like he was yelling. I couldn't imagine acting so ignorant over food. No matter who's mistake it was, I didn't have a problem with it until your cook started acting like an ass. Your bartender tried her best to correct the problem but at that point it was to late.
