This is a really solid place for the food that hits you in your grease-cravings - and I do say that in a positive way. We intended to go to another restaurant in the area but it turned out to be closed on Mondays. But Mondays is one of the three steak nights at Bay Cafe, so each of us got a $12 16oz ribeye (or 8oz filet) with sides. I think it was a great deal, but it didn't make that much sense to order half the amount of meat for the same price (yes I know filet can be expensive but this was the more economic decision). I initially wanted the grilled salmon but they were out that night. The service was slightly slower, but we weren't in a rush. They were not cleaning up tables very quickly and the seating is limited, but again, none of this really hindered our experience. The food tastes great, and we loved the Bay potatoes that comes as the default side (cheesy, salty mashed potatoes), and the steaks came out perfectly cooked. I'm not sure if I would visit again soon because of how heavy the food was, but I'm sure anyone out trying to get a few beers would love a hearty meal. read more

CRAWFISH AND ANDYGATOR BABY! My brother and sister in law lived in the beautiful Metrarie for a few years, during which i was lucky enough to visit and experience some of the best that NOLA"s got to offer: Abita's Andygator & some damn great Crawfish! Although i loved just about everything that the Southern City has to offer, with the downtown food and drink tour being such a bountiful and profound piece of the experience, this place has got what the locals attest to being the best crawfish boil. Daiquiri Bay's did me in REAL GOOD, because after coming here, i dreamt of crawfish for about 3 days in a row. When i got back to New York, I talked about Crawfish for a week. Then i brought my friends to any place in the city that boils. Safe to say that nothing in the Big Apple compared to Daiquiri's boil. I never would have stopped in here had it not been for K. He went to lunch here with some coworkers and told me we should try it. He had the steak and I the tuna. I am pretty sure K ordered my tuna to be medium but it was super well done when it came out. I also never got the salad that I was supposed to get with the dish. I didn't insist on it because I had plenty of food anyway. The food wasn't wow but they did have some good deals, and they have waffle fries! I think next time I'll try the tiger burger. read more

Stopped here to grab a couple drinks after dinner. I live down the street and notice this place is always crowded and always wanted to check it out. Ended up getting kicked out in 10 mins for asking for a menu. The bartender was rude and she even had an off duty JP officer come talk to me. The officer was very nice about it and told me she even kicked him out a couple weeks ago for no reason. While I was talking to the officer she was screaming at me "get the f*** out!" Afterwards me and my group of friends were in the parking lot talking about what happened and noticed she kicked out another group. I called the shop the day after to file a complaint and haven't received a phone call back from the manager yet. read more

Ah, The Bay. My roommates and I have an unhealthy obsession with this hole in the wall bar. We are here almost weekly. Steak night M/W/F. This means a 16oz steak with a side for $12.99. Beer is a little overpriced and I've never ordered a mix drink but I'm sure the are jacked a bit too. Daiquiris are great though! Bartenders are somewhat friendly but they are overworked and under staffed most the time. Sometimes grown men fight in the bar, but honestly I find it super entertaining to watch someone over the age of 30 not know how to act in public. read more

My bestie introduced me to this gem! We went for the broccoli cheese bites and daiquiris. I had a side of sweet potato fries, and she had a side of tator totes with chilli and cheese. The sweet potato fries were a little burnt on the outside, but I didn't mind. We both had a delicious daiquiri, though, I don't remember the name of the flavor. It may have been one of the seasonal flavors the bar offers; I think it's called Bay Brees. The color of the daiquiri is light green and tastes sweet. For a lightweight drinker like myself, the daiquiri has to be sweet to overpower the taste of the alcohol. The bartender was professional and nice. She let me sample two of the daiquiris before I decided on one. Our food order didn't take long to come out. We sat outside, ate, and drank while talking and watching tv on one of the many TVs. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, the grill offers a steak and a side for $12, as well as other seasonal grill and drink specials. This place has nice drinks and decent food and many folks from the area seem to frequent it. My first experience with this place was many years ago during Carnival time when a much older lady who frequents this place and is known as "Hot Mama" burst up into the bar and looked at me and said, "I'm Hot Mama and I've got a tight pussy!" as she pulled her shirt up and flashed me her rather wrinkly boobs. That is a Carnival moment that actually surprised me and I'm very difficult to surprise! They have a pretty good burger and roast beef po boy here but I can't recommend the view that Hot Mama offers. read more

On a Wednesday night, it was a choice between Hooters or steak for $10. It's getting close to that time of the month so I chose steak. So off to Metry we go. I dont know how my dining partner knew about this place but he went here with his fobby friends. Fobby friends = skeptical food review. Im wrong. This is my new steak joint. The bill was 26 and some change for 2 steak plates, a root beer and strawberry daiquiri. We opted to close out the bill on the spot. After paying we moved down towards the end of the bar with copy of gambit to read while chit chatting about why the sky was blue until our food came. I didnt even need the A1 steak sauce yall. It was well seasoned and probably marinated in advance and I love 'dem sweet potato fries, they were not shoestring my friends. 'Dem was just right. Awww but I was happy. Here's the deal people, judging from the sign outside the restaurant, MWF all day, the steak special is served for $10 -- until they run out. When you order at the bar, make sure you ask if they still have them. From what I hear, the burgers are great too. I tell you one thing, this is my new joint for steaks. I was debating if I wanted to share this with Yelp but I like supporting local businesses. I know what it's like--tough in these times. Also, I really liked that the girl who took our order was nice. That meant alot to me too because if it was some bitchy bartender I wouldve left. Parking is shared with other retailors in a small strip joint mall facing W. Esplanade. Cash and credit is accepted. Went here expecting to eat crawfish! Instead had no one greet us at the door. Got our own menus and when I decided to ask a bartender about the crawfish she was rude and told me "only on Sundays" with an attitude. On their website it doesn't tell you a time when they close or info about crawfish. When I visit Louisiana again I'm definitely going somewhere else. read more

On a Friday night, this is the place to get your crawfish. The wait can be 20-30 minutes, so come early and drink a few beers or one of the daiquiris. There are only two ladies at the bar, but they know their jobs well and are well-seasoned professionals. There is indoor and outdoor seating, poker machines, and some other good bar grub besides. They offer sweet potato fries as an option for those who like to switch it up. The ambiance is fun despite the odd location, and there are plenty of screens to watch your favorite sports. A multitude of windows helps the space feel large despite the fairly small size. I would recommend this place for the food, drinks, or just as a hangout spot with a few friends. read more

A great place to hang out and pretty good bar food. They always have some kind of special going on. Last time there, they had 16 oz steak and side for only $10. The steak was very juicy and tender. Friend had the hambuger which was huge, which he enjoyed. Will be coming back again after work to hang out with friends, and a bite to eat. read more

I came here this evening visiting with a couple of friends. My 2 friends were already there and had food and couple of drinks. So I got a drink and ordered food. We sat outside. The 2 bartenders working never came outside to ask if we needed anything. That's fine I usually clean up myself and walk in for anything I need anyway. BUT every time I walked in for something the older bartender (not that old just older than the other) had an attitude like it was a task to get me something. One of their names was Paige, but I'm not sure which one. We bought a few drinks and food. I had a $30 tab and my friends tab was $70! So tell me why the rude bartender had the nerve to tell my friend no he could not have 2 cups of tap water and made him buy bottles of water at $2.50 each??? She said he didn't buy anything. If she was a good bartender she would have noticed or taken a walk outside for a second to check on people and seen we were all together. That was $100 btwn 3 people and you couldn't give tap water.
