It's located down a busy Chinatown alley. The area seems to be quite chaotic as the stores are small and the number of visitors is quite large. When we found the shop, there appeared to be a rather unorganized line in front. We soon realized it was just people milling about. The line did start at the door but we soon discovered that you can order from one of the 4 electronic pads on the counter. Once you place your order, it's rather a short wait for the desserts. We arrived about an hour before closing and the item I wanted - buko pie - was sold out. We opted for ice cream instead. We also ordered the Calamansi juice. Fortunately, we were able to grab a table infuse and enjoy our desserts. My favorite was the black buko. My husband liked the Calamansi (sorbet). The Calamansi drink was more tart than I expected. They started turning away customers about 10 minutes prior to closing. They had a lot to clean up. Unfortunately, the group of locals sitting next to us didn't bother to throw away their trash and left it to the workers to clean up after them. This was the only group that did so during our time sitting inside. Thanks to everyone else for cleaning up after themselves! Enjoy!

The milkshake tasted good and sweet. It was a nice pick me up after walking around a lot. Will definitely have to come back and try out their bilog.
I stopped by Mamasons for an afternoon pick-me-up. There were many enticing options on the menu, but I decided to get the one that I see most often splashed across social media, the ube bilog. This is an ice cream sandwich featuring bright purple ube ice cream stuffed inside a soft and sweet milk bun and finished with a dusting of powdered sugar. Honestly, it was so much better than I expected! The ice cream itself was fantastic, not too sweet and utterly creamy. The milk bun was soft inside yet firm enough to keep its structure. The browned exterior of the bun gave it a nice sweetness as well. Although I'd be happy to sample other menu items, I'm not sure I could sway myself from getting another ube bilog on a future visit. It checked all the boxes for me! SO GOOD!
Went for Dessert Food - 5/5. Bilog was soft and pillowy, yet maintained its shape to hold the ice cream. The ube ice cream was creamy with strong flavors of ube and was not too sweet. The milo ice cream tasted just like the drink version, except in a frozen form with a creamier consistency. Queso had the savory flavors of cheese with a slight salty kick that balanced out the sweetness of the ice cream. The cone had a nice crunch and mildly sweet flavor. Service - 4/5. They are very busy with a consistent line yet the service was fast and courteous. Value - 5/5. The bilog is priced at £7.50 and the ice creams are between £3.8-7.5, depending on size. The black cone adds an extra £1.00. The desserts truly capture the Filipino flavor profile and their portions are solid. Parking - N/A
Mamasons is located in London's Chinatown area. It is a Filipino dessert spot that offers 6 different flavors to choose from, along with different dessert options. We decided to try their halo halo with ube ice cream, black buko bilog, and an ube milkshake. Ordering can be done via ordering kiosks, they have 3 available to use. It probably took about 5-10 minutes for our desserts to be ready, altogether. Tbh, Mamasons was a bit disappointing. The ube halo halo I had was a bit bland and the flavors did not mesh well together. Kind of tasted like oatmeal. It was unfortunate though because I really do enjoy halo halos usually and this did not do it for me. The black buko bilog also was nothing memorable. Flavors could use some improvement. The ube smoothie/milkshake was all right. Again, the ube did not have much of a taste to it and tasted like plain vanilla. I believe London does not have much for Filipino food or desserts so having Mamasons is a great addition to its Chinatown. Mamasons brought a cool, new concept and new desserts to this area but still could benefit from perhaps a bit of tweaking to their ice cream flavors.

The outside was still hot and crispy, which made the ice cream a lot easier to bite into. However, it was so messy. They have a lot of other dessert options that I need to go back and try!
Multiple YouTubers recommended Mamasons, so my family and I were excited to try out this popular Filipino dessert place. We came close to closing time, so thankfully we were still able to place an order. We got 1 calamansi bilog and 1 ube bilog. The calamansi bilog, unfortunately, was way too tart for our taste. The pandesal portion of the bilog was only ok, and we would've been fine with just ordering the ube ice cream alone. We did like how potent the ube flavor in the ice cream was. While we love finding hip Filipino spots around the world and love supporting Filipino businesses, we likely won't return.
So so so good! We tried ube, black buko, queso and lychee ice creams in buns. I personally liked ube and black buko the most. Lychee ice cream (more of a sorbet texture) was refreshing, but I would eat it on its own, not in a bun. Queso was very interesting - it definitely tasted like cheese, while also being sweet, but I will probably not get it again.

Absolutely fantastic ube bilog. Excellent portion size to split between two people. Super creamy ice cream and the pandestal cover is sweet and a great compliment. Super busy when we arrived yesterday but order came quickly via ordering on the electronic screens. I'll definitely return for the ube brownie and the coconut dessert option. read more
Food: Ube coffee: Good textural balance of cream and coffee. Despite the vibrant purple hue, the ube flavor was lacking. Not sweet on its own, so consider adding sugar. 2/5 Halo Halo [not pictured]: the soft creamy ice cream and jelly assortments compliments well with the crunchy cornflakes and wafer straw. The beloved jackfruit delivers a comforting southeast Asian refreshment along with the shaved ice (my viet self and mom can attest). 5/5 Service: Convenient kiosk to order. They call you up when items are ready. Ambiance: it's a small establishment, so the tables can get packed quickly. Nevertheless, it's lively and it's within Chinatown, giving a convenience of having this dessert right after some dumplings! read more

Arguably top 3 if not one of the best ube ice cream I've tried in my life. No contest about that. The place is a bit small and the lines can be long during peak hours but it is so worth the wait and slight hassle. The warm matcha brownie topped with ube ice cream was phenomenal. read more

Passed by to try the Halo Halo and Ube and Queso dirty cream! It's definitely a fusion more so than the traditional Filipino dirty ice cream and Halo Halo. But still tasty and delicious. We enjoyed the Halo Halo most! Yum! read more

Multiple YouTubers recommended Mamasons, so my family and I were excited to try out this popular Filipino dessert place. We came close to closing time, so thankfully we were still able to place an order. We got 1 calamansi bilog and 1 ube bilog. The calamansi bilog, unfortunately, was way too tart for our taste. The pandesal portion of the bilog was only ok, and we would've been fine with just ordering the ube ice cream alone. We did like how potent the ube flavor in the ice cream was. While we love finding hip Filipino spots around the world and love supporting Filipino businesses, we likely won't return. read more

I was exploring Chinatown in London and saw an Instagram post earlier about Mamasons' ube hot cocoa. Very interesting concept so I gave it a try. Everything was purple/ube and I couldn't tell there was cocoa at all but tasted good. It was a nice warm drink when it was chilly and rainy outside. Good service and very busy (Sunday night). read more

Let me be clear...if you don't try the ube bilog it's safe to say you weren't at the top of your class. My God! This was, literally, my first taste of ube ever and...NAILED it! It is the most magnificent "ice cream sandwich" you will ever have. Actually, it's the best one anyone will ever have...anywhere. Three order monitors are set at the entrance and the service was VERY fast. I don't think I was inside for more than 3 minutes. Then I stood outside making yummy noises and getting curious looks. This and Chinatown Bakery are two musts here in...errr...Chinatown. I'm going back tomorrow for one more before I head back to the States - I refuse to leave the UK without it. read more

If you're in London and looking for a sweet treat, Mamasons is a must. I confess: I went here twice in the same week. The first time was so, so good (you always remember your first), I had to get it again as a treat to myself on Father's Day (I was in London on business). Although the names of the menu items might be intimidating, you actually use tablets in the restaurant to place your order, which makes the process very easy. The first time I went, on a Wednesday evening before a show, I ordered the bilog (Mamason's signature brioche ice cream sandwich) with the queso (salted cheesecake) ice cream. When I tell you that that first bite was life-changing...I could almost cry at the thought of never experiencing that first taste again. Lol. The bun was warm, chewy, and fluffy and the ice cream was the perfect blend of sweet and savory. Truth be told, my second experience was so lackluster, if it had been my first experience, I might not have gone again. The issue was two-fold: first, and I think most importantly, the brioche bun was stale. It wasn't nearly ask fluffy and chewy. Secondly, I ordered the lavender-colored ice cream flavor, the one you see in all the internet photos of the bilog. It's vanilla-esque, which is a flavor I can typically get down with but, I gotta say, it wasn't nearly as good as the queso flavor. It was, as I realize is often the case with vanilla, basic. The first issue I'll chalk up to going on the wrong day at the wrong time and the second issue is a matter of personal preference. Given my first experience, and the overwhelmingly positive reviews this place gets, I'm gonna guess that my second experience was an outlier. You absolutely must go here! read more

If you need a quick Filipino sweets fix, this is the place to be. Right in the heart of China Town's sugar alley is where you'll find this gem. Menu is limited to top filipino drinks, deserts and bakes. We ordered halo halo ( nothing special about it really) ube and black buko bilog (pandesal with ube and coconut and charcoal ice cream inside). I like that the pandesal is thin and has a bit of a crust which makes the bread light enough to eat with ice cream. The crunch and a hint of salt from the crust is an extra punch. Very limited space inside and hardly enough chairs and tables. Gets busy, most ate standing and left since there is no space to hangout. read more
Finally, Filipino dessert in London! The place was packed with people, which I was happy to see. The decor was cute and reminiscent of home. We ordered the Bilog with Milo, and we wanted to try the one with ube as well but we apparently ordered the wrong thing from the ipad, so we got 2 Milo ones. It was good but hard to eat due to the mess from the powder, and the ice cream was so soft that jt would spill out when you take a bite. Flavor was good and tasted just like Milo! We ordered our ice creams from their self service kiosk machines which was quick and convenient. We got the two scoop ice cream flavors: ube and milo. It costed about 4.50 GBP. We enjoyed their ice cream and the milo flavor tasted similar to Ovaltine. I would have loved to tried their other desserts and the buko (black coconut) flavor too. Mamasons is a popular ice cream joint in Chinatown. They feature fun and eclectic flavors such as ube (purple yam), buko (black coconut), milo (chocolate malt), calamansi (Filipino lime), and more. They sometimes have rotational flavors such as avocado. The buko is by far my favorite! You can get regular scoops, or level up for a unique pastry + ice cream combo. Their signature is the bilog, which is ice cream encased in a pandasal milk bun, then toasted to be warm and slightly crispy on the outside, yet cold and creamy on the inside. They also have a tasty ubo brownie and a buko pie, both of which are scrumptious (the brownie is especially indulgent). If you're more a fan of drinkable concoctions, the halo halo is an over-the-top mixture of shaved ice, coconut strings and jellies, and more, topped with two scoops of ice cream. Very extra! The place can look busy, but service is always fast. Place an order at one of the self-service kiosks (or order up front if necessary), and they'll call your number in a couple minutes. Just note that dine-in might be a bit loud and cramped, so I usually get takeaway. Overall a delish creamery! read more

Soooo good!! They give such a variety of things in your halo halo. This place is super popular and the queue often stretches out the door, so it's really nice they have self ordering machines inside. We came at an odd time so it was luckily empty, but I oddly felt like the workers kept staring at us. Maybe it's just me. read more

I decided to stop to ice cream place Chinatown. I had a very delicious and strong little Dessert for mid day pick me up. I ordered the UBE iced coffee and it was very delicious. read more

Always a treat to come here after lunch/dinner around Piccadilly. So happy to see a filipino desserts taking a spot in Chinatown! I've tasted Ube Ice-cream and Queso ice-cream in the streets of Philippines, and could say that unfortunately, these 2 flavours at Mamasons doesn't live up to its par. Still pretty good to those trying it the first time though! The Black Buko, however, FANTASTIC! Haven't seen anything else like it anywhere, even in the Philippines! Absolutely delicious! read more
