Got the fried calamari cone and a mixed cone for 7€ each. Loved the calamari cone but the mixed was just only okay. Too many small local fish so it was quite bitter. Wish they let us choose what was in the cone like the other place. I preferred Mamma Mia over the other place because their food was hot. Warm fried food isn't as good as straight out the frier Hot. Note: CASH ONLY but there's an ATM 10 feet away.

Happiness in a cone! Best 5 euros I've ever spent to date!!! Ever!

Fried Seafood in a cone!!! Whatttt! Best 5 euros I've ever spent!! As soon as you've arrived in Rio Maggiore, look for a place that is swarm with tourists. Yea that one place with lines out the door and aroma that tickle your senses. Oh heaven. They have cones right at the front to lure you in. 5 euros = a cone of fried seafood with fries. So good, I had it twice in an hour. (Minus the french fries at the bottom: yuck). They also have pizza slices but seriously, who cares about pizza when there is fried calamari, crab and prawns staring at your face! #Foodgasm

Tasty but unhealthy :( freshly fried seafood in a cone (small €5/ large €10). Having read about this place I had to try the seafood cone even though we were due to have dinner soon after so we shared a small cone as an appetiser. At €5 for freshly fried calamari, prawns, crab and fish the seafood cone is very good value and tastes good too. Mamma Mia can easily be found on the Main Street in Riomaggiore since there are only 2 streets in this village (not the street by the harbour). There is a similar outlet diagonally opposite that closes earlier so we did not get to try that place.

We came here on a rainy day in Riomaggiore and it was still crowded. The place is on the main drag, fun and jazzy, great for people watching. We ordered the mixed calamari and it was just the right amount for the three of us (mom, dad, 6-yr old son) to sample. The standard size costs 5 euros and includes a mix of calamari, octopus, sardines, etc. It was delicious but gotta eat while it's hot and crispy. It's a fun stop in to fuel up before the hike. The staff is super friendly and happy to take photos with tourists :)

Pretty decent food. Among very few places in Italy that sell chicken wings. The taste of chicken was good, crispy fries too. Food was hot. Reasonable price. Small portion had 7 chicken pieces n fries for €6. Large would have costed €9

Mamma mia, this place is awful. I walked in to find a family screaming at the cashier that it had been forever for their fried calamari and they had to leave. I ordered chicken nuggets and French fries. The cone was €7 and looked absolutely nothing like their display. It came out and I took a bite and it was fish. I told the cashier who shrugged and handed it to one of the cooks who rudely filled it up with four little bricks of chicken. Disgusting.

Warning: Could be passed over as a tourist trap! Named Mamma Mia in the middle of Riomaggiore. You constantly see tourists walk around with the little cardboard boxes full of fries, shrimp, anchovies, and many other friend delicacies. However, it was tempting and actually turned out to be a nice quick bite. This is not where you want to go if you want a nice sit down meal in the Cinque Terre, but if you are looking for a bite to bring to the room or to the beach, this place comes recommended, despite the touristy name.

Bad service with bad attitudes. Calamari was over priced to begin with and chewed like rubber. Avoid!

Despite the tourist-trap sounding name, it makes for a pretty dang good walking-around-with-some-fried-fish-in-a-paper-cone snack.

Instead, its charm comes from being right in the heart of the village, with a cozy, intimate atmosphere that lets you soak in the energy of Riomaggiore and indulge in a little people watching. And honestly the food was a very pleasant surprise. I was craving steamed mussels, and theirs were absolutely delicious-- fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. For my main, I went for something simple: a sea bream fillet with garlic and olive oil. It was beautifully prepared and delicious. My husband had the seafood spaghetti, which was equally satisfying packed with the flavors of the sea without feeling fishy or overly heavy. It's the kind of place that reminds you that restaurant doesn't necessarily need a spectacular view or a complicated menu to leave an impression. The cozy setting, quality of ingredients, and straightforward, well executed cooking were more than enough. A very pleasant-- and unexpected-- surprise in Riomaggiore.

First off, everyone working there was genuinely kind. My sister and I were set on trying the octopus however this was an appetizer item, and we knew we wouldn't be able to finish an appetizer and two entrees. A lot of places sometimes get mad if you order just an appetizer and an entree to share, however they were very understanding and even brought out extra plates for us. We also got the mussel ravioli, which was to die for! Of course we had wine as well, which was also delicious! Love this place and would give 10 stars if I could!

Deliciousness - 4/5 Happiness - 3.5/5…read more At the end of the main street of Riomaggiore lies an overlooked gem. It's well worth visiting at the top of the hill for flavorful classic Italian food in Cinque Terre (for those in need of a break from the fish dishes offered by most restaurants). Their pizza list is quite extensive and ranges from Italian specialties to American favorites like chicken and peppers. I got the tuna pizza (never knew that was a thing) and it was really good. The cheese was the perfect consistency and very flavorful (ditto with the buffalo mozzerella appetizer we ordered). The tuna added a unique flavor to the pizza, though I wish there had been more of it added to the pizza. My wife got fresh made pasta and pesto that was also mixed with roasted potatoes (carbo load!). Although the pesto was delicious, the dish was too one-note. Without tomatoes or some other acidic side, the singular pesto flavor simply overwhelmed the pallet. Again, it was a good flavor, but it just needed something to break through the basil. I know this sounds crazy, but make sure you order the seltzer (or in Italy, fizzy) water. They make it in-house and it is hands down the best sparkling water I've ever had. It never lost its effervescence throughout the meal and really energized me. The service was just OK. They never served us the bread that went to other tables (not that we needed more bread, but it was still a somewhat strange oversight) and they rarely came by to see how we were doing. Not unfriendly, but definitely not the most hospitable either. All together, this meal left me smiling and satisfied!
