Rio Maggiore is basically closed inn February. That's a fact I wish I had known before we planned a couple of nights stay. Veciu Muin was one of the few restaurants open. Admittedly, we had been nervous about sit-down restaurants in Italy. Most charge a fee to even sit down, and Italy is pretty expensive to begin with, and we feared crummy service due to being American (like other reviews of similar nearby places had stated). Veciu Muin eased our anxieties! Staff was friendly, and we did our best to speak Italian, and they attempted a little English. The prices were fair: -€2.50 Cappuccino -€1.50 Sparkling Water -€10 Pizza (and sizable portions!) -€10 Fish and Chips The cappuccinos were fair, but acceptably priced. The fish and chips were FRESH (no joke, very fishy, with a great breading) -- good, but I wouldn't order them again nor would I recommend. We also ordered a sausage and onion pizza. My husband said it was the best pizza he had ever eaten. Considering I've seen him eels several hundred pizza's in our years, that's pretty impressive. A neighboring table ordered spaghetti with mussels and I was very jealous and wished I had ordered it too. I contemplated ordering it to go but thought better of it, because the portions are quite sizable (another bonus). So, my tip to you would be: don't come to this area in February, and order the spaghetti with muscles from Veciu Muin!

We came here after a grueling day of hiking and it totally hit the spot! I was a bit worried it would be expensive and touristy, but it turned out to be delicious and fairly priced! We ordered the swordfish dish, anchovie appetizer, and pesto pasta, and everything was very tasty, especially the anchovies. The service was decent given how crowded it was, and the prices were better than I had hoped for.

This place had the BEST pizza I have had in Italy so far. Phenomenal! The service was also great with sweet waitresses

Small touristy restaurant with outside eating. I had the set fish lunch menu, and wasn't all that impressed. Food tasted bland, and the olive oil that was on the table was expired. I love eating outside enjoying the weather, and people watching, but the flies we're a little too much and annoying trying to keep them from landing on our food, but that is a chance you take eating outside. I had a glass of their house wine which was just ok. I'd skip it and buy something you know you like.

The bruschetta was not that great; it was just tomatoes on a piece of toast but the pesto pizza and the tiramisu were amazing! We had a cute little table outside and the service was excellent!

Pan seared swordfish. Excellent, wish I had 3 times the amount. Only 12.00 for lunch portion.

Meandering through town looking for lunch, we liked the covered seating right on the Main Street. We ordered the mussels for an appetizer. It was tasty but a bit salty, which was easily fixed by using the bread (very good) to offset it. We had the swordfish (excellent) and the seafood spaghetti (excellent as well) for lunch. The portions were kind of small for us, but we eat a lot. :) the flavors of both these dishes left us wanting about 3 times more, but I guess that left room for gelato later on. Overall this was a nice find. The service was very good and the meal was 39.50 for two. Note - no credit cards here so bring cash.

Better than average food (I'd give 3.5 stars if Yelp would permit), although my lasagna was a little burnt on the edge. Still good, and the pizza was tasty. Greek salad was fresh and the beers were cold. Server was very pleasant and fast.

    Anchovies were delicious

Food here is just ok, fish is mostly served with a big variety of it.. Staff was great and very attentive.

The food was delicious, the servers were friendly, but they forgot to order our main course and then overcharged us.

Instead, its charm comes from being right in the heart of the village, with a cozy, intimate atmosphere that lets you soak in the energy of Riomaggiore and indulge in a little people watching. And honestly the food was a very pleasant surprise. I was craving steamed mussels, and theirs were absolutely delicious-- fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. For my main, I went for something simple: a sea bream fillet with garlic and olive oil. It was beautifully prepared and delicious. My husband had the seafood spaghetti, which was equally satisfying packed with the flavors of the sea without feeling fishy or overly heavy. It's the kind of place that reminds you that restaurant doesn't necessarily need a spectacular view or a complicated menu to leave an impression. The cozy setting, quality of ingredients, and straightforward, well executed cooking were more than enough. A very pleasant-- and unexpected-- surprise in Riomaggiore.

First off, everyone working there was genuinely kind. My sister and I were set on trying the octopus however this was an appetizer item, and we knew we wouldn't be able to finish an appetizer and two entrees. A lot of places sometimes get mad if you order just an appetizer and an entree to share, however they were very understanding and even brought out extra plates for us. We also got the mussel ravioli, which was to die for! Of course we had wine as well, which was also delicious! Love this place and would give 10 stars if I could!

I came inside and I was a little bummed out because there were flies all over the inside of the food heaters where they put all the fried seafood. I mean, a little contamination never hurt anyone... So I did end up getting what I intended to get. I mean, it's not every day I am in Italy. I was trying to savor the moment. Although there were flies all over the food area, the mixed cones were okay. I was more into the experience of being in another country and the beauty of this place itself. Try it because you're there... Don't expect the best, but you're in Italy! Do it.

The small little shop have very limited settings but the convenience of the way they are packaged, is easy to take away and eat. There are few choices of fried goodies and we got the combination of fries, calamari, octopus, and fish. The seasoning was flavorful and it is plenty to share if ordered the large for a little $ more. The focaccia pizza was delicious and it was also a nice decent amount. Best to share so you can try a variety of stuff. I think it can also be too much fried stuff if one person was to eat it.
