We purchased a Swedish Princess Cake for my son's bday cake at another bakery. Went we got home he noticed the cake was not a traditional cake and he was right. We ended up calling around to find a real Swedish Princess Cake and they were so helpful. I was worried he was not going to get the cake he requested for his bday. The bakery assured me their cake was traditional with fresh cream, raspberry and marzipan. The cake was perfect. We all loved the cake! Went for a last second tiramisu for my mother's birthday. I'm pretty particular about tiramisu as most places put too much frosting or make them too sweet. Additionally, I saw one in display but it was too large for our smaller group. Juan and his team provided A+ service, listening to my concerns, and providing me with a few options. I went with this medium sized tiramisu and let me tell you, they lived up to their title of fine pastries. You can taste the quality ingredients. Additionally, tiramisu takes some time to make and they managed to have to ready the next day. The decor was quite classy and tasty too. Thank you Mamolo's for making my mom's birthday extra special. After some conversation, I was proud to learn that I was supporting a local independent small business located inside of Gelson's. We'll see you again soon. read more

I got the cheese jalapeño bagel to go and toasted it at home it turned out so good! The flavor was bold and savory with the perfect hint of. Have picked up several cake from this bakery. The last one was a beautiful design decadent chocolate truffle cake. It was rich with a well balance of sweetness unlike most traditional American cake. This bakery is tucked inside Gelson's supermarket. There are a varieties of cake from Ube flavor to red velvet and each is like a piece of art. Lali, In Training!!! Where's the manager when you need one. ??? We were excited to be at one of our all time favorite bakeries. Viktor Benes has been around for a long long time. We've enjoyed their original brick and mortar bakery on 3rd street in LA, that's how long we've enjoyed these baked goods. Lali's service was poor, elementary and appeared to have disrupted her Halloween costume discussion with her co worker. As soon as she turned away from us, she continued her conversation then, looked straight into her phone, for a selfie. Before we even stepped away from the counter. If it hadn't been for that, I wouldn't have bothered with this review. Managers hiring people who are not really interested, in their jobs. Management should recognize the lack of service skills. Baked goods however did not disappoint. I'll also continue to patronize Westlake and Thousand Oaks "VB" bakeries! Manhattan Beach apparently doesn't need my business. Viktor Benes Bakery has been my favorite for 20+ years now. I have traveled far for these bakeries. I recently went to the bakery in the Gelson's Market in Manhattan Beach, two weeks in a row, (the second time I was hoping for better) and both times it's was horrible. I am so sad writing this. I purchased cookies, Danish and single piece Pastries, such as the Tiramisu Slice, the Raspberry Tart, the Fruit Tarts and the Lemon sponge cake roll. Both times my bill was relatively high. Not one of them were fresh, and I had to throw 2 of them away, as they were so dry, they were inedible. I hope they remedy this. Maybe they are not selling enough, to sell them fresh. Very disappointing for what I have always considered a 5 Star Bakery. read more

Hi mates, I never composed a Yelp review yet I can't quit discussing it with my auntie, my auntie told me to downland Yelp and presently I'm here! I'm new to this city, I'm from Poland, just arrived! In a real sense love this spot already. It is so mystical to me. All that I saw looked so good to me. Two benevolent young ladies helped me, they are so splendid I don't have a clue about the staff. One of them is petite and the other is a bit taller than her, with a mask. I never felt so adored. They are so reasonable, encouraging, remarkable, and tremendous that they made me laugh and smile and filled my heart with joy. I just got an enormous latte very velvety, rich mouth-watering, and scrumptious. I truly love the staff who helped me, I'm returning soon to go see them other than getting a few treats for myself! I was disappointed with their design of the "Fireman Truck ", it doesn't look like the picture they showed me when I ordered. It doesn't look like something from a professional bakery. With $60, I think I deserve something better. The only thing I liked about this cake is that they didn't make it too sweet as I requested. I like their other pastries but maybe not a good place for birthday cakes. read more

I discovered this bakery a few months ago and absolutely have fallen in love with this place. This past week, I've ordered at least 5 cakes for employees and my daughter'a birthday and every cake has been delicious. Today, I picked up a tres leche cake and my entire time devoured it. I have ordered my kid's birthday cake here the last 3 years. I have never had an issue until this year. The designs have always been amazing and the cakes delicious. The cake was not what we had been promised, which was a disappointment to my kids. It looked like a cake I could have ordered at Ralph's for 1/2 the price. The cake was dry and when you cut into it it fell apart. We ended up throwing the leftovers away because of the taste and consistency. Such a bummer for my kids. read more

This location and this bakery saved my butt after a debacle at alpine village. Let's just put aside the ridiculously amazing assortment of all sorts of cakes and pastries and giftable goodies they have. Their staff is so stellar. From the moment I called in, the manager and everyone I spoke with in the bakery were so helpful and went out of their way to accommodate something special that I really should've had to pay extra for. I'm so blown away and have made my decision on where all my occasion cakes and gifts are coming from (and most likely my wedding cake) It's obviously Viktor Benes quality and reflect those prices which actually are pretty good compared to others now but it's the fact that they just made everything happen with practically no notice and were enthusiastic about it. I been a client for couple of years; not anymore beyond today. I got a chocolate cake called the Parisian, today midday. It was horrible! Honestly I'm so disappointed the cake was so dry, stiffed literally tastes like refrigerator....don't know what to say. Not even fresh at all literally disgusting. Don't go here. read more

i came here on a Sunday and purchased two monkeyball cakes which I buy quite often. I guess their pastries are not delivered on Sunday because the cakes were stale and fell apart in the bag. I called and was told some times they are left over from Saturday or maybe because I bought them in the afternoon instead of morning. I won't be getting them anymore. read more

Hi Everyone, I HAVE to share my good fortune with others. I have recently been going to Gelson's (for their already cooked turkey parts) and while they are very good, what is EXCEPTIONAL is the bakery there. Technically (and this is actually a good thing), the bakery is in Gelson's but not part of Gelson's - it is the renowned Viktor Bene's Continental Bakery. My children and I have had many of their desserts (tonight we are likely getting one of their specialties, the Alligator pastry (if you want to find out about it, you must go, it will be well worth your trip). The chocolate cakes, chiffon cakes, cookies, pies, tarts, chocolate danish, fruit tarts, and egg bread are delectable. Now for the best part - the manager, Juan Fabian is the nicest man and most accommodating and talented baker you will ever meet. Whatever you want he will make for you. He is so courteous and welcoming and after two minutes of talking with him, you will feel like you have known him for years. True terrific customer service. Finally, I want to mention that you get what you pay for. If you want a pie for $6 bucks go to Ralph's and while there is nothing wrong with that (as I have done that several times), when you truly want something to wow you or your friends and family, this is the place (Gelson's on Sepulveda, THE VIKTOR BENE'S BAKERY, at the front of the store, not far from the cashiers). This is actually not Viktor Benes. It's run by Juan Fabian inside Gelson's in Manhattan Beach and it is the bomb! Just the most spectacular bakery in the city. Custom cakes, breads, cookies and the most helpful people who will bend over backwards to help you get what you want. I wish Gelson's would do more to promote this bakery. That was a big mistake to buy a cake from this Bakery. We got a chocolate mousse cake for the 4th of July celebration and one of my friend got a rock in his slice and broke his tooth. I came by today to get a refund and let them know there is a problem with their cakes. Instead of apologizing their manager started asking if the rock might get into the cake from the outside, from the tree, lol. He asked to show him the proof, apparently the picture was not enough. I asked him to show me the proof of what ingredients he used to make this cake, of course he didn't show anything. First he offered a 50% refund, cuz I didn't bring him a rock, nonsense! After arguing with him he agreed to give me a 100% refund, and I let him know I'll post a bad review, he said then he wouldn't refund anything!!! Luckily none of our kids got a rock. I will never buy a cake again at this bakery and would not recommend this bakery to anyone. Horrible customer service and questionable quality of the ingredients!!! I got my refund eventually, but had to fight for it. So disappointing!!! read more

Each of Mona's three Mamolo's Fine Pastries locations, in Marina del Rey, Westlake Village, and Thousand Oaks, provides a slightly different menu, customized to the specific tastes and requests of local customers. Recent menu innovations include Gluten-Free selections, Vegan options including pies, and a line of No-Sugar-Added delights. While it sometimes costs more, From Yucatan-sourced chocolate to marmalade imported from Switzerland, Mona insists on sourcing ingredients which add to the Taste, Quality, and Appearance of her baked goods, since we eat as much with our eyes as we do with our taste buds. You can savor the Swiss marmalade in confections like her rugelach, and sample both the marmalade and Yucatan chocolate in her signature Chocolate Raspberry Mousse Cake. History

Established in 1966.

Our fine European pastry tradition is courtesy of Ugo Mamolo, the Italy, Trieste-born baker with a passion for bringing old world, traditional recipes to families in Southern California. Ugo emigrated to the U.S. in 1958 and after working hard for many years, opened Mamolo's Continental Bakery in 1966. With a business partner, Ugo purchased the Viktor Bene's Bakery from the original owner and expanded his bakery operations in Southern California. Ugo Mamolo passed in 2021, but his delight in bringing joy lives on in the family and friends who continue to operate bakeries today. In 2024, 16 bakeries were renamed Mamolo's Fine Pastries in his honor. Mamolo's Fine Pastries remains committed to providing high quality baked goods using fresh, premium ingredients and handcrafted techniques. The ice cream was good but not exceptional. The chocolate and strawberry were fairly generic, but I liked the third scoop of banana foster ice cream which had a nice banana kick. I doubt this ice cream is home made. The complements and construction to the sundae were great, however, and the flavors came together well. In cases throughout the store are several of their other specialties - ice cream cookie sandwiches, dipped frozen bananas, and more - inviting repeat visits. Prices are elevated but not crazy for such a trendy area, although I would say with the middling quality of the ice cream a couple dollars less would be fine. Overall, Manhattan Beach Creamery is a local landmark worth at least a single visit for anyone in the area. They're absolutely delicious and one of the best food deals you'll find in the South Bay. Their Spam musubi is also fantastic and definitely worth trying. I've eaten at just about every poke spot in the South Bay, and Ali'i Hawaiian Grill is the one I keep coming back to. If you haven't been here yet, you're missing out. i was passing by & a lady & a boy were having a conversation. the lady was by the cookie area & the boy was by the register & the boy says to the lady 'haha that black nigga terry'. EXTREMELY RUDE. that is racial profiling!!!! but the lady who he was talking to gasped & shook her head as she looked at me & apologized when the boy went to the back. i delt bad for the girl bc i know she is new and she didnt know what to do! i dont know what the manager would say about this behavior with the boy. but its not okay. & im not the only customer that heard this !!! never going again ! read more

Your are the worlds worst' bakery. And avoid their crooked employee Adolfo in Encino. Today is the start of an important Jewish day. As part of our tradition every year we get a cake they make specifically for the holiday. You have to pre-order. Normally the employee presents the cake to the customer to confirm it's correct. Adolfo sealed the box and quickly handed it to me. I had to ask him as he ran past me if we were good to go. We just opened the box and found the inside of the cake was flat. Sold us a defective cake and lied to our face! read more

On top of all that, every order supports Project CASK, which funds research and treatment for her daughter's rare neurological condition. So you're not just getting an incredible cookie, you're helping a family and supporting something so important and meaningful for a whole community. The flavors were honest and pure. My favorite of the bunch was the chocolate croissant. It was flakey, buttery and filled with the most delightful dark chocolate morsels; not too sweet, not too bitter just pure goodness. It paired well with my coffee, but should pair equally well with a glass of milk. Heck, all this talk has got me hungry for another one!!! Lastly, I respect and appreciate a company that stands behind their product (no compromise). Again, everything is certified organic and the dough is slow fermented (30 hours). This process enhances flavor, texture, digestibility for the gluten sensitive, better bioavailability of nutrients and enhances shelf life without adding preservatives. Finally, the young lady at the counter was super pleasant, knowledgeable and caring. I managed retail for nearly 20 years and I know good customer service when I see it and you will find none better than at Frogs. I will certainly be back to sample the rest of the menu.
