I placed an online order for next-day pickup for my daughter's birthday since we were coming into the area for a few days to celebrate. After seeing the bakery had such great reviews, I was really looking forward to our experience. Unfortunately, the service left a bit to be desired and I felt more like I was in the way than welcomed as a customer. I completely understand that it was a very busy weekend, but even a simple "hello" or "welcome" can go a long way in making customers feel acknowledged. The chocolate cake was also disappointing. It looked beautiful, but unfortunately, the taste just wasn't there, and most of the cake was hardly touched. The one bright spot was the custom sugar cookies they were delicious! We only ordered a small amount, but after trying them, we quickly realized they would have been the better choice. Have to say that the service can be a bit apathetic and aloof. Most importantly, it always feels like a waste of time coming here because its completely inconsistent what baked goods they have on any given day. Amazing sugar cookies with the cutest designs I've ever seen. The whole place is like that, with pretty coastal art and warm lighting. The employees are always friendly and the service is quick. These heart cookies with the pink frosting were literally my lifeblood in the early 2000s as a young chimp running around the AMS Elementary School. I came back here for the first time in a minute this weekend, now a full grown orangutan, and can confirm these heart cookies with the pink frosting ($1.50) are still literal crack cocaine. I really don't even mess with frosting on cookies usually, but Becker's is just different. I paired an americano with my cookie, as they now have a Hi-Fi Espresso in here which I think slangs some of the best espresso around. It makes me feel like I'm in Europe idk how else to describe it. I almost bought a shirt, but I have SO many shirts already so I opted against it. However, when I was doing my due diligence for this review a sense of regret shot through my spine like it was an epidural when I saw Beckers has been around since 1942. I had NO idea that Beckers has been around since Joseph Stalin was the Time Magazine Person of the Year. Still so crazy he was Time's Person of the Year....... The business is still in the family after 3 generations (Shoutout to the OG Harry Becker for kicking it off), which really makes me want to go back and buy a shirt. I love places passed from generation to generation. No wonder these heart cookies with the pink frosting still taste exactly the same as they did when I was just a little chimp. Some free game for y'all, if you go to someone's party in Manhattan Beach and they don't have a box of Becker's cookies, they are a big fat phony..... ahaha I'm playin but actually OGs will always have a box of Beckers for a function. Today, I found a box of Becker's Bakery Cookies in our lobby at work with a lovely note to enjoy the cookies. Our office is an hour away. Later in the day, I opened the box to an absolutely gorgeous display of cookies with our corporate logo perfectly captured in the icing. What an amazing surprise and a fantastic marketing campaign! I later found out a vendor had these delivered as a thank you gift. I passed the cookies around to our manufacturing managers and IT staff who stayed late in the day to get work done during quieter hours. Everyone raved about the cookies: very moist, tasty, and with just the perfect amount of sweetness -- certainly a cookie an adult would enjoy with their tea or coffee. We raised our kids in Manhattan Beach and came back to town recently for a visit. With so many new restaurants popping up in downtown MB, it really is nice to see one of our regular places still in business - Becker's Bakery! Our kids have great memories of Becker's - from frosting cookies during the annual holiday open house, to buying a whole bunch of surfboard cookies to share with classmates on birthdays, to simply ordering sandwiches to have on the beach. I've walked by this place several times every in the morning and missed out on trying because it's not open til 8:00. Decided to be patient and get my coffee later than normal. The plan was to just get coffee but I saw this amazing pastry begging to be tried. First off, the coffee was perfect. Bug this apple fritter type pastry is one of the best I've ever had...in my life! They had croissants the size of my sneakers, cinnamon buns, cakes, and colorful cookies which were so welcoming when walking through the door! If you want cookies, Beckers is the best. Their sugar cookies are delicious and you can even send them a photo and they'll print it in the cookies. We ended up ordering a cake which looked really nice and was good, but nothing special. My husband felt the cake was a little dry and actually thought the bakery at Costco does a better cake. This Little gem in Manhattan is Pretty Rad. They have a wonderful selection of baked goods. My fav being their chocolate chip cookie they are massive and buttery and just delicious. They are known for their surfboard cookies and love that they have a variety of colors for the kids as well. The place is very small so there is no inside seating but there are 2 small cute tables outside with chairs to enjoy your treats and get some fresh air. I haven't tried their coffee but there is always a line so I'm sure it's good. Their customer service is great here, very helpful and always a smile on their face. Happy National Scone Day! A good scone in my opinion is hard to come by. They can often be dry and hard but that is not the case at Becker's Bakery. Becker's Bakery has some of the best scones I've ever tried! Currently; the bakery is not open so that you can walk in. You will be ordering up front by the door. It's not a problem though as the folks working there will happily answer any questions you may have for their product on display. I instantly spotted a pretty, blue/purple pastry and asked what it was. They told me it was their blueberry scone. Perfect for National Scone Day is their blueberry scone. For $2.25 only this scone is a great deal! It's soft and delicious. There is a layer of blueberry cream on top giving it a nice, sweet compliment. I could tell it was fresh and I loved every bite. My one regret for the day is that I didn't buy more scones to take home! Hmm...guess it only means I will be back for more soon ;) read more

I know I am odd but I am not a donut person... until I had Becker's donuts. The actual donut is almost like a pancake the flavor it's so delicious. The frosting has just the right amount of flavor with a hint of sweetness. Maple is my favorite. Becker's is a well known in Manhattan Beach. I have bought a few cakes from here and they have all been consistently delicious! They are good at putting together bright colors for both the bread and frosting. They also make very cute sugar cookies which they can put photos on. The staff are friendly and helpful. Oh I cannot say enough about how much I enjoy this bakery and its heart sugar cookies. Once, we arrived at the store to find it was closed; i craved those darn cookies for two weeks until we could come back. Becker's is a staple of Manhattan Beach. Pictured is the best dessert, surfboard cookie that never fails. We got the chicken salad sandwich and Turkey sandwich as well. Both were simple and straight forward but the Turkey was a bit dry so probably won't order that next time. Make sure to get it on the ciabatta bread!!
