I've been going Metrotown Men Cave for last 3 years on regular basis. On July 28, 2022,10.58am, I went to same Men Cave to cut my hair During the hair hair cut, I felt some sting back of head. I didn't think too much of it. After all finish, the barber didn't use mirror show back of my head. I paid and left. Around noon I felt sharp pain from back of head and took some pictures. I came in here for there, royal treatment which their website advertises as hot towel, shave haircut massage and use of luxury products all for $65. I ended up being charged $90 with no explanation, and when I brought up this overcharge, they just acted dumb. Sad because the job was really good. She did an exceptional work, but bearing in switching the client is not good business practice. My wife who found and recommended this place to me also wrote a scathing review. read more

Been here myself a couple times and also brought y 5 year old son. The first few times were great and we both got great cuts Last time I bought my son he received a very horrible cut. To start, the barber didn't look happy when me realized he would be cutting a kids hair. He was done in 7 minutes!! Unfortunately under the lights of the place, it looked ok. I took my son there today for a haircut. The usual place he goes to was closed. I needed to drop off a prescription and thought, why not. Went there, no line up. I explained to the guy, .5-1 fade. Trim and thin the top. I'm going to drop off a prescription at superstore. How long will it be, I asked. He said 10-15 mins. That's it? Ok. I dropped off the prescription at superstore, came back and my son was playing with the iPad on the wall. Not sure how long he has been playing. His hair.... I was not impressed. Uneven, no fade, no blending. Basically buzzed up straight all the way to the top, and there was a spot where he went too high. Thinning? Nah bruv, he just cut straight across so now my son looks like he has a dumb and dumber haircut. I didn't bother to ask him to fix it. There is no fixing yet there is a risk of him mucking it up more. It's not like a kids cut is super cheap. It's ONE DOLLAR LESS THAN AN ADULT HAIRCUT. I really could and HAVE done better myself. Visiting Vancouver, got a haircut from Ramses. Told him exactly what my go-to barber told me to tell him. It turned out horrible. The Fade was a 2/5 and the Top was a 1/5. Instead of taking my advice, he blames me for not giving him clear instructions. Worst customer experience ever. He cuts super fast, in and out in 15 minutes. Instead of checking up with the customer every now and then, he was busy chatting and laughing with other barbers. Very very disappointed with this experience. Would not recommend coming here, unless you want to look like a goat chewed off your hair. Coming here you can tell that this barbershop picks quantity over quality. Whatever makes them more money right. Lastly, to Ramses: Buddy, reflect on yourself, don't blame the customer for your incompetency. Walked in cause I needed a haircut and this place was in the area. Bad decision. The haircut was rushed without care and despite my specific instructions the male stylist blamed the haircut on the shape of my head. He gave me attitude after seeing I was not pleased with the cut. As I was speaking to the manager the stylist stood there with more attitude. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of one is because the manager's attempt to dIffise the situation. I took my 12 year old son there and he likes his hair a little longer, which he told the lady cutting his hair. He looked absolutely terrible. She cut off all his curls and left the sides where it's supposed to be short long. He looks like he stuck his finger in an electrical socket. Very disappointed. Terrible cut done by the lady working there. I took my son there for a haircut today. My son has long curls and thick hair, the lady was told to cut two inches off, she almost made him bald. She cut off all his curls. My son loved his long hair and curls now its just a ugly buzz cut for him. If there is negative rating I would definitely give them that , This is the second time this has happened. Lady barber has no experience at all. I would have done a better job on my son's hair. The barber (guy w/ a ball cap) who did my haircut didn't even bother checking if my hair is trimmed evenly. i sat there and in about less than 5mins it's done, yes it was done fast but in a very bad way. i didn't like my haircut. if i had known, i should've just asked my wife to cut my hair instead. Judging by all the poor reviews here I believe the only reason they are still in business is because of the high volume of people that are walking around Metrotown Mall. They don't worry about repeat business because everyday there's such a large new customer base. The rent for that location must be humongous ,plus the employee payroll for all those barbers, no wonder they hustle you in and out like that! I went in there based on the fact that their website showcased a lot of old school products ,plus a very nice looking Barbershop. I couldn't reach anybody by phone so I just planned a walkin. The receptionist was attractive and kind of flirtatious but the haircut itself lasted between 5 and 10 minutes. A macho kind of guy who didn't cut very well at all. Have been going for a year or two and always has been okay. My son was clear about what he wanted and he ended up with a nearly bald head! I could have taken a razor to it myself for free. My boyfriend has come here many times but each time is different and we've given this shop and location specifically many chances but this one was the last. The barber Farshad was rude and complained it took 45 minutes to do hair as that is his job but took offence to a simple compliment as "that was so fast". as well as lady in the front reception has no customer service skills she was on the phone the entire time while i was trying to pay and offered no receipt as i wanted to know how much i had paid for what service instead was just given a thumbs up. EDIT:After contacting the owner after my disappointing visit, They looked into it to find out who did my hair, and offered to personally fix my neckline, and give me a full refund. Which I did not take, because I had left on Vacation. But, I felt that the dedication to rectify the poor service I received was a nice gesture to make a unpleasant situation better, and I changed my original rating of 1 star to 3 stars. NOTE: This review reflects my experience with just their haircut service, and none of their other services. After my last hair stylist moved I've been looking around the greater Vancouver area for a replacement. When I read several great reviews for this place I decided to come check this place out. When I arrived I was pretty optimistic from what I've read and the general vibe I got from the place. I'm generally not to picky about what I want for my hair style and I told the barber what I tell most people who cut my hair "I would like it short and messy, BUT I absolutely do NOT want it cut to short or thin so that skin/scalp shows through." The barber said he understood, and that it wouldn't be a problem. He attached a guard to his clippers and took the first big chunk out of my hair and immediately my scalp was showing through some of the shortest hair I've ever had. I immediately lost a lot of confidence in this barber, and he actually asked me if I wanted it shorter! WHAT?! To say the least, it was awkward from that point on, I didn't want to get mad about something that can't be changed at that point, so I said to just go with it and maybe it could turn out okay, but I explained I didn't want to go any shorter at all! Again he didn't listen to my very well cause he did end up going shorter and when it came to my neck line I asked for a natural curved neckline. What did I get? A straight line across the back of my neck with some of the hardest corners I've ever seen. When I tried to explain what I wanted he just kept telling me that he did what I asked and didn't know what I was talking about. He even asked me if I wore glasses and if I had left them at home. Really? I'm not the one here that needs glasses! That's not the serviced I expected and I didn't even want to pay for what I got, and it felt like I just got trolled the whole time I was there. Now I have to wait at least 2-3 months for my hair to grow out enough so I can get it fixed. What makes this really unfortunate is that I can't shake this feeling that if I had just got my hair cut by any of the other 4 or 5 barbers that were there at the time, it wouldn't have ended up the way it did. The others seemed to communicate more with their customers and didn't have this one-dimensional short clippers cut routine like the barber I ended up with. If a barber can't follow a simple and only instruction like "I don't want it to short or thin, I don't want to see my skin/scalp through my hair" Then I don't know what you're doing even cutting peoples hair to begin with. read more

I walked past this barber shop After shopping at superstore and it Looked good from the outside. I read some reviews and was warned to avoid the last chair on the right where the female barber cuts your hair. Against my better judgement I went in and was seated immediately at the last chair on the right. I guess it's my own fault for not wanting to wait and being optimistic. First the barber doesn't come and walk you to the chair you have to stumble your way back there. Also they don't wash your hair prior to cutting. In fact she doesn't even spray your hair wet. She just goes at it with the clippers. I attempted to lighten the mood and talk to her. This made her cut even worse as she was distracted trying to do two things at once. Spend 15 minutes trying to get someone to talk to me (they don't have a receptionist, and none of the hair stylists will give me more than 2 words). Apparently the manager just deleted my appointment. Claims he messaged me (they didn't). Even the manager wouldn't really talk to me or provide any real customer service.Tells me to sign in again and go to the back of the line. Suffice to say I didn't bother. No customer service. Worst haircut I ever had! This place advertises and prices as if it is upscale but that could not be further from the truth. This is rush, rush hair-cutting; get as many people as possible in and out as fast as you can. All cutting is done with electric clippers - just like shearing sheep! My guy said he's been a barber for 30 years - but he still doesn't know how to cut hair. I like my hair long and told him I just wanted a light trim to tidy it up. I was expecting a trim with scissors but before I knew it out came the clippers and half of the hair on one side was gone! Then he had to even it up and he failed at that. Now the hair on both sides is uneven and won't lay down properly, plus I have to let it grow for at least two months before I can go somewhere else to get the damage repaired. $25 for 5 minutes work - not bad eh? read more

Got a haircut from Oscar today. Told him I'm leaving for a big trip out of the country so he needs to be extra careful. Fade: 3/5 Top: 1.5/5 he cut my top really uneven. Did this fancy Scissor trick as he was cutting the top but could not fix the mistake after I pointed it out. Presentation/performance doesn't matter, it's always the result. He cuts really fast. This used to be the place I go to all the time (Surrey location). However, they seem to have a high turnover rate. The barber I try to stick to always changes so this place became my second go to. So I went today and they skipped my name for someone who came after me. This is the second time back to back since I went back to them. First time I told them so I was able to correct their mistake. However, this time I was on a time crunch and did not want to linger around the mall too long since it was packed (Covid-19). Got there and signed in and saw 1 name above mine. That name was called 5 minutes after so I knew my turn would not be too long. 20 minutes later, 2 of the barbers came and looked at the list and kept exchanging words with each other. Before I knew it the family who came after me was called up. Normally I would address this but this time it's a family (1 mom and 2 children), I am not going to be that guy who tells the barbers they made a mistake and then make the family wait longer. This could have been easily avoided if they knew how to read the names down the list. All in all I will not be coming back and would recommend others not to as well. read more

I've only visited once but it was insanely busy and insanely stressful. Why? * They don't take reservations so it's first come first served. They reassure guests on their website reservations aren't necessary since wait times are 0-10 minutes...which is false. I waited nearly 40 minutes just to be seen. * They don't have someone up front handling incoming guests. Instead they rely on guests automatically knowing they have to sign in using a tablet up front. * They don't use that tablet anyway. I had two people cut in front of me simply because they complained and/or lied they were there first. When I said I was pretty sure I was next and told them to check their wait list I was ignored. * There's nowhere to wait. They have two stools and that's it. I spent 40 minutes dodging foot traffic in arguably the busiest part of the mall. To say the least I won't be going back. Wait times are terrible. Their wait list is a joke and they have no way of knowing who's next. The haircut wasn't even that great. read more

I came here because I wanted to find a barber a little closer to where I work, and read the great reviews on Yelp. Today, Yelp let me down. It seems from the reviews that the male barbers are great. Today I got a hair cut from one of the female barbers. Now, I generally communicate well when it comes to my hair. I know what to ask for, and how to describe what I want. The woman who cut my hair today basically didn't speak to me the entire time I was in her chair. (This should've been a huge red flag. She didn't even say hi or tell me what chair to sit in. One of the other barbers had to direct me where to go) She asked what I get on the sides (I told her a number one guard with a low fade down to skin). She decided to just go at my head with the clippers upon hearing that. She was so aggressive that she had shorn a huge strip with her first pass. Even if I had stopped her, my hair was already not fixable. After just simply shaving all sides to a number one, she began cutting the top. No attempt to fade despite me explicitly telling her that it is usually faded. Her scissor work was also very questionable. I can say that this is the first time in 33 years of getting haircuts that my barber did not touch my hair with their hands. She used a comb and just started to clip anything above the comb line. I'm not a barber/stylist so I figured, maybe this was a technique she was using that I'd never come across. All of a sudden, what seemed like halfway through my hair, she announced that she was done and asked if the cut was ok. At this point I was ready to lose it, and I think it showed on my face, so I just told her it's fine and got the heck out of the chair. After I got home I decided to wash my hair out and see the damage done. It is completely uneven, and annoyingly short/long in random places. I won't return. Having been to plenty of barber shops, I can definitely say this place is a case of you get what you pay for. This place is all decor, no talent.
