The funny thing about Italy and Sicily, some of the restaurants can be fickle. The staff are there and could kind of care less about helping a foreigner. Not at Tiffany's. You can tell this is a family restaurant where they care about the artisanship of crafting food for generations. They do this for the love of it. The owner came out and explained everything on the menu to help us. I ended up telling him I wanted his best pizza with meat. Twenty minutes later out came the most perfect sausage and mushroom neapolitan wood fired pizza I have ever had in my life. It literally melted in my mouth. Seriously, if you are within 30-45 minuets of Enna, come here and try it. You will not be disappointed. Places like this keep me coming back to Italy. SERIOUSLY!

But if you need lunch before or after the mosaics, avoid the tourist traps in Casale and come here instead. I was greeted in a most welcoming manner, and ushered to a comfortable interior table. Being a Brit, I wanted to sit outside (I would have been the only one), but this was no problem and Antonio swiftly laid up a table for me. There is a pleasant view of the Garibaldi Theatre from the front terrace of the restaurant. I was pining for a good tomato salad, and boy did they deliver! So good that I snapped it and the result is in the pics attached. But this was not before I had taken their mixed antipasti - always a good way to judge the mettle of an Italian restaurant; my policy is to order the antipasti misti only to start, and if they are good, I will place an order for mains; if bad, I cash up and go. In this case, I was brought a sumptuous plate of local produce - green and black marinated olives, salami and salsicce, artichoke hearts marinated in lemon and oil, raw mushrooms, roast peppers and courgettes, melanzane grigliate con mozzarella. By the time I'd finished, I could barely manage a small portion of pappardelle with rabbit sauce. Indoors, chef was keen to know how was the food, and Antonio wanted me to see the reproduction mosaics that adorned the ceiling of the restaurant. The toilets were faultless. During a recent group trip (40 people) to Italy, we stopped for lunch at the Ristorante Primavera…read morein the Catania region. For me the region evoked the Napa Valley area in California. Ristorante Primavera appears to be a farm-to-table restaurant - I believe that they call it "agriturismo" in Italy. Our Italian tour guide, Dimitri Donati, arranged for us all to have fifteen courses of "small plates" of the various items they regularly serve. It was a great way to try new foods or different approaches to familiar foods. They also gave us red and white wines, water, fruit and cannoli for dessert (the cannolis were awesome - apparently Sicily is famous for them), and also espresso and limoncello. The service was very good. I loved the building - from the outside it looked like a country villa. Inside there are brick arches (which appear to be old) spanning large open spaces; some walls are stone. There were TVs mounted on some walls although none of them were on while we were there. Everyone enjoyed our lunch; we had a terrific time seated at long tables together, laughing and talking and eating the good food.
