By far the best haircut and shaves I have gotten in YEARS are done by Larissa.... I have always gotten my haircuts done by old school barbers, and not the "Supercuts" or "Sports Clips" hair cutters. I went there the 1st time out of desperation a few months before the pandemic hit, (I was gonna be running late for an appointment if I went to my regular shop, and I badly needed a cut) and it was in the plaza that I was picking something up in, and it was called Man Cave, so I figured what the hell... Let me tell you, I have never had a decent cut from a girl before, and ofcourse when I went in only the girl was available... - So at that point I was like "shit, I'm screwed " But let me tell you, I can honestly say that she is ON POINT! Corners and edges were all squared up and clean. This was really one of my best cuts EVER. (And I have always been told I have difficult hair, and she just did her thing and I didn't have to tell her "how" to cut my hair.) Not only was it one of the best cuts, I figured if she can be on point with the cuts, lemme give her a shot at the shave. ---- This girl is fire with a razor... This girl got me as a customer for LIFE. Been going there now for more than a year, and only once did I have to go somewhere else, and that was one of the worst cuts I ever had... This place already charged the highest prices for men's haircuts/services in the while area, but to add insult to injury, they're now charging a 5% convenience fee for simply book an appointment online, which is the only way to book and see a stylist's schedule. Every other place simply charges you for the haircut. They don't try to make a profit on a credit card fee. The credit card companies usually charge 3% or less anyways, and companies usually don't whack the customer for it, or worse yet, like this place try to make a profit on it, especially when the prices are so high already. read more

I'd been looking for a new hairstylist and after getting several recommendations I chose ManCave at Mission Bay. I wasn't disappointed. The place is modern and welcoming with a choice of drinks at the sign-in desk. Based on recommendation I made an appointment with Larissa and she is great ! She understood the style I wanted and my wife was impressed when I came home. After a few days I realized I needed a little touch up and Larissa gratuitously had me come in and didn't charge for the additional snip snip. STAY AWAY! My teenage son booked a hair cut online, which they charge you for, $50. Then when he went in they charged him again for the same haircut. Him being 16 he didn't realize this until he saw the 2 charges out of his account. He called this location several times to resolve the matter and was continuously told he would receive a call back. This happened 6 weeks ago and still no call. So he paid $100 for a barely $25 haircut... credit card company wouldn't let is dispute it because the online system bills under a different name than the in person charge. I've been a customer (w my special needs adult son) since this location opened. This is a premium barber service and I've been happy with the exception of scheduling hair cut appointments. The last three times calling and using the web app to schedule back to back hair cuts and beard trims for both my son an I have been entered incorrectly by the front desk and the web. This salon charges a high premium but does not deliver on its appointments. This is an inconvenience to me, but a source of stress and anxiety to my son. The solution proposed by the barber was to text or call him directly, not the establishment. While I appreciate the offer, that's not reflective of the premium luxury brand experience they propose to offer. I asked to provide this feedback to the manager and was told there isn't one, just the owner. Every service has the Opportunity to improve, so I hope the owner sees this and makes changes to the front office process and investigate the web scheduling issues. Had high hopes for finding an upscale barbershop as I had just moved to the are. Got a cut from Larissa; fewer than 5 words were exchanged the entire time while she cut it so high and tight I look like I'm joining the military. Shaved my neck and left me covered in shaving cream even after she wiped me, so I had to take the towel myself and clean off after I had paid and realized it. Felt very unwelcome. Had an appointment with Alex at 6 pm. I came fifteen minutes early and the Secretary sat me down. Two minutes before six Alex began a new haircut with a new customer after finishing his previous cut. The Secretary did not even let me know he was running late and chose to let me sit there thinking my appointment for six was still on. Needless to say I left and will not be coming back. Whilst I was seated I saw several awful haircuts from other barbers which they deemed complete. Each of the lineups on the back of the head were completely off. Embarrassing to say the least. I would stay far away! There are so many places you could go. To top it off, the Secretary did not offer me a beverage. When the next customer walked in, she offered him a beverage, and poured him a glass when he accepted the invitation. Stay away! The bald guy who cuts hair there is an idiot. He took half my kids eyebrow off during the hair cut and didn't mention it. Then I noticed when I got outside went back in and he tried to say oh maybe he moved that's how it happened. Stay away. Over priced haircuts. Total gimmick. They bait you in with free beer and then charge you $30 for a kids cut and mess it up. Never again. Not even an apology from the barber. He needs to be fired. Last time I went in there to get my hair cut before this time he basically ignored me trying to skate around having to cut my hair. **HONEST REVIEW**Clean environment and there are some great barbers there but conversely there are poor barbers as well. I've experienced both. Alex is an EXCELLENT barber with poor communication skills and an attitude to match. I was thrown out of his chair when attempting to explain a different way I preferred to have my haircut. Both he and management later apologized for the incident but it was still a damaging experience. Michelle was then recommended to me by management for a cut which turned out horribly. She failed to achieve a simple blend and struggled while cutting my hair. Unlike Alex, she had subpar equipment for a professional barber but I must say also unlike Alex she had a very pleasant attitude (so I tipped her well for her attitude and NOT for the deplorable cut). Front desk was also often less than pleasant to me. I always had to ASK for the shampoo that comes with every cut and was never once offered a beverage (even though this is one of their signature offerings). Now it's hard to determine if these experiences with Mancave were a result of my gender (female) or race (African American) but either way it was all unacceptable to me for a professional barber shop. I truly did not feel welcomed nor my business appreciated. Perhaps if you are of a different nationality or gender your experience may be different. I truly hope so. I have since found an alternative barber shop in the area to patron but it's so disheartening to me that I had to do that. read more

My son is 12 and has very complicated hair and him being satisfied with his haircut almost never happens. He happens to be blessed with an amazing head of hair so he's very particular. He didn't have a problem with his haircut but he's just never satisfied with the end result so we came back in after the haircut and the woman who cut his hair spent a good 20 minutes with him counseling him on strategies he could leverage to keep his look consistent after the haircut. including suggestions on different hair products which would absolutely help him. She was so patient it was remarkable it was almost like a doctor sitting with a patient. In the end he's happy and i would classify her approach as entirely uncommon. We will be bAck. read more
