I needed to replace my renters insurance; its annual premium had almost doubled from last year. I also needed to acquire earthquake insurance. I tried researching online on my own, but every company's site required me to answer *many* questions before it would give a quote, and I didn't know if I was checking with *all* available insurance providers. (Turns out I wasn't.) As it happened, I came across an article about finding insurance, and it recommended contacting an *independent* insurance broker, and that led me to finding Avail Insurance Solutions. My first experience working with Brian was pretty good. Once I had my policies in place and I needed to make changes/corrections or had questions it was a lot harder to get support from Brian or his office. Recently, my insurer drastically increased my rates without informing me why and the only way to address this was to work with Brian. I got in touch with the office and expressed my interest in getting this corrected or having other options before my policy renewed and managed to get Brian on the phone to discuss. He promised I would receive options or a solution by the next business day. I never heard back. I ended up switching to a different insurer (not through avail) and it took multiple attempts to get Avail to cancel my old policy. My experience with Avail has gone downhill precipitously, resulting in my ultimately having to get all my insurance needs met elsewhere. It started when Brian hired a host of people who don't appreciate the importance of repeat customers and customer service in general. His new team didn't respond to emails or phone calls. When they did, they often failed to answer my questions. Their communications were riddled with typos and errors. In the end, they stuck me with a carrier that charged an exorbitantly high premium and did not even bother to shop it around before it came up for renewal. I had to do all the legwork to find my own homeowners and auto policy, which took an entire day. Still, I found policies with the same coverages and saved over $5,000 annually in premium. read more
