I complained at Manchester redemption and on their website and got no where. So, I figure I should warn others of the their plight based on my experience. We had been storing up bottles and cans for years. So I had a shed full of bags of these bottles and cans. we had given some bags away to people to use them. The last person we gave to took the bag to a local grocery store. She reported to us she had redeemed the bag for $10. After that I identified Manchester Redemption with the an automated machine to count the bottles. So, I took 5 bags in an got $40. The next time I brought 6 bags for redemption. They gave me $60. This left me thinking that each bag contained approximately $10 of redemptive bottles. However, the third time I went, I brought in 7 bags. They gave me $40. I disputed the count they offered me no remedy. I believe they stole $20 from me either by machine error or by human corruption. I wrote them and got no response. read more

I will NEVER return to this Redemption Center in this life or my next. If I could rate 0 stars, this place would get it! Let me outline to you my afternoon here: * I checked the website to get any important information (how/if they wanted things separated, etc.) - only relevant info is that they are "machine free". So we showed up with our bags separated by material (cans, plastic, glass) * Showed up and a man (presumably the owner) comes out and tells us that we need to separate our recyclables BY LABEL!!!! That's right- we had to dump out all of our garbage bags of already separated things and organize them by BRAND into separate boxes. !!!! * Same guy comes back half way through us separating by label and starts picking out all the cans and bottles he "can't accept because there is no one to come and pick them up" - there was no rhyme or reason to what he couldn't take. So we just separated those cans by label just to throw them back in our bags and back in the car. * I suggested to the guy that he put this information on his website so that people could be more informed before coming. The guy THEN told me that if it was a big deal we didn't have to separate by the label! AS IF!!! I explained to him that it wasn't about having to separate them, it was about not knowing what we were getting ourselves into before we began this now tedious process. We just wanted some sort of direction on the website or at least posted when you get there. (It was 80 degrees outside while separating and my boyfriend just had his appendix out the other day). * So we finish separating and the guy makes us carry the boxes of separated recyclables into the building for him!!! There's like 12 boxes. Now we are really working to get our five cent deposit back! * As we finallllllly get all of the boxes inside, the guy points to where there are crumpled up cans taped to the wall and says "Those are the cans we don't accept." There were a few craft beer cans up. I told him that the cans he turned away from us were not taped up, and regardless he should post that list on his website so people know what they can recycle there. He said, "It is posted. Right there on the wall." (-_-) I said "Yes I see that, but you should post a photo of it on your website so people know before they get here." AND THIS MAN HAS THE AUDACITY TO SAY TO ME "YOU take a picture." !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am APPALLED to say the least. I would rather have all of my teeth punched out of my head than return to this redemption center. You are better off going to the grocery store machines. read more

Walk in with crap, walk out a few dollars richer- it's as easy as that. If only life was as easy as Manchester's Redemption Center! Tired of dealing with those annoying recycle centers at your local grocery store? You know the ones - they are are always full when you try to use them; trying to find someone to empty them is nearly impossible; when someone finally does decide to come out - they don't empty the bins in the machines they simply shake them to redistribute the material so the bins will take a few more bottles and cans before they are full again...YEAH, those! Well fret no more, this family-run business makes returning your cans and bottles so easy! At home or at there facility, you count your recyclables, package them into either these industrial-sized, see-thru garbage bags or cardboard boxes they give you and that's it. You're in, you're out, 10 minutes most! No weird smells to be had, crazy people to interact with or troublesome lines to wait in, come check out MRC if you dread returning cans as much as I once did. They somehow make what was once an unwilling chore an enjoyable transaction. read more

Manchester Redemption Center - Recycling Center Near Me - Manchester, Connecticut

At first I checked out the website to learn about it since I am just use to the grocery store machines. It didn't say much besides what they offer there. (Machine free, pick up available, money on the spot...) I get there to find out everything needed to be separated by brand. Not just bottles, cans, and glass. If I knew that I would have done it at home. We are collecting the returns from friends and family to raise money for wings for kids where my son is donating his hair and we had a ton of bags. It took me an hour and a half to separate them there. Like I said I would have done that at home If the website said that ahead of time. Better at home then a loading dock. Especially having my kids with me, they could have been busy playing outside and not stuck there. Having my three kids with me for this long took a big toll on them. The woman was nice, gave them a toy for "helping" me lol but then said a little later on that If they werent being good she would take it away. Like that's not how you treat a kid, they are young and they were having a hard time with being there so long. They did what they could ok helping and listening, but it was rough. A gentleman did help us that worked there. He was super kind and helped sort through our stuff with me. Besides the issue with the kids, the workers were honestly nice. But again, their website needs to be more clear on what to do. It would make things so much smoother for not only them, but the people walking into it. Now that I know what is expected I may go again. But I do hope they update it. Also count them when you bag them. They said the bags could fit so much for cans and this much for bottles so you could just fill them up. But I got way more in the bags than said. So dont loose out on your return by just bagging them. read more

I like going to Manchester Redemption center as they are pretty freindly and flexible with the returns process.They also give out boxes and bags to count out your empties.You can just bring your cans seperated and counted and they pay you right away!!They also help local churches and schools and Boys scoutt to raise money for a good cause.They have plenty of tables and carts set up outside to work.i would probably recommend this place to all my friends and family. read more

I went there 1time I had to do thor job I came in With Cans and bottles they said put cans in a Tray, bottles in box, plastic in bags they back In office and talk the phone about 15 minutes I went to the office and I said so many cans and bottles they gave 6.00$ and stored me 2$ and get out read more

I find this business to be so much easier to deal with than trying to return in a machine at a grocery store. Especially, since I usually have a vast amount of bottles and cans. In my experience the staff are friendly and helpful. read more

They state they offer "free pickups for large loads", but when you call them to schedule a pickup - they tell you NO and then that they will need to "think about it". That's absolute garbage and false advertising! If I have to gather up my large load I might as well just take my business elsewhere, which is exactly what I'll be doing! read more

Didn't have the extra time to sort by brand as I had already sorted into plastic, glass and cans. Left about $50 on the dock. It's probably how they make their money. An explanation about how they want stuff sorted listed on their website would prevent a lot angry customers. Or they could just answer the phone. read more
