They are thieves, and they do shoddy work…read more I had a very disappointing experience with this business and cannot recommend their services. I brought in two pairs of shoes, each needing a heel repair on one shoe. I was charged $40, only to later discover that the rate is $20 per shoe--yet only one shoe was repaired despite my bringing in the full pair. The man with whom I was dealing was so combative that I chose to let it go. Additionally, I had previously brought in another pair a little over a year ago. Unfortunately, the heel fell off again while I was walking into a restaurant. When I returned and explained the situation, I was told that I must have originally brought in only one shoe--an explanation was ludicrous, as I would never do that. If 1 shoe is going to fall apart, it's same to assume the other will as well. Again, I did not argue. I paid $80 for the two pairs I picked up and was issued the same ticket for the new pair I had just dropped off. I was advised to contact the owner regarding the recurring issue, as the repair work had clearly not held up. I spoke with two different employees (manager? owner?) over the phone, both of whom assured me they would investigate and call me back. No one ever followed up. When I called again a few days later, I was simply told the shoes were ready. When I went in to pick them up, I was told I owed $100. I laughed because I genuinly thought he was joking! This same grumpy and combative man claimed I had not paid for the previous two pairs and was also charging me $20 for the current repair--even though it was to fix their own prior workmanship. When I explained that I had already paid, he insisted otherwise and showed me a calculator printout that said $100. He said that if I'd paid, he would have a receipt. So furious, I stormed out. After checking my wallet, I found the $80 receipt confirming my payment. I called back and offered to send a photo of the receipt as proof. I was asked to return in person, to which I said "never!" I requested a number to send the photo instead. He agreed but never sent me the number to text!!! Hmm....did he realize how he's been busted trying to steal from me by double charging? Had I not kept my receipt, I might have been pressured into paying for services twice. I'm sure it's happened with plenty of customers who did not hold on to their receipts! I find it funny that this dude was so unrelenting about being paid, yet I never heard back from him. Now, I need referrals for a good shoe repair shopt please!

I found the shoes at a thrift store, and they were almost brand new. Unfortunately, after wearing them for only a few minutes, the upper and sole completely separated. To make matters worse, the silver finish around the heel area started peeling off during the same outing. I was devastated because they were such beautiful shoes. At first, I tried fixing them myself with super glue, but quickly realized this was a job for a professional. That's when I decided to take them to Sedlar's Shoe Repair. From the moment I dropped them off, I felt confident they knew what they were doing. They asked for cash payment in advance, which was perfectly fine with me. When I picked up my shoes, I was genuinely amazed. Not only were they repaired, but they looked much better than I expected. The workmanship was excellent, and the shoes feel solid and wearable again. It's becoming harder and harder to find skilled shoe repair shops in Los Angeles, and I really appreciate that Sedlar's is keeping this craft alive. If you have shoes, boots, handbags, or other leather items that need professional attention, I highly recommend giving them a try. I'm thrilled to have my favorite shoes back, and I hope this wonderful old-school neighborhood business stays around for many years to come. Let's support the talented local craftspeople who help us repair and reuse instead of throwing things away.

Mary, has not only become a friend; but her style and 'backbone ' are a welcome relief from the usual bland retail mentality. DO NOT BUY CUSTOM LEATHER JACKETS HERE…read more These guys have no idea what they are doing when it comes to measurements and tailoring and have terrible customer service to top it off. I wasted $1,600 on a leather jacket that's 10" too big for me and they won't exchange it or give me my money back. I stopped into the store one day, and a woman named Mary extolled the many benefits of a custom tailored leather jacket, mainly the specifics of how well it would fit. I bought one, and she took my measurements for it at the store. Nearly six months later it arrived and was WAY too big (see photo #1). We arranged for a return and she asked me for my correct waist size. I told her (and this is in writing via email exchange "I wear a size 32" jeans") and she assured me that would be enough for the correct jacket to be sent. Another nearly six months go by, and the new jacket arrives. And low and behold, it is again way off in the waist. I measured the waist (see photo 2) and it corresponds to a size 44" jeans. And now the store is accusing me of having worn the jacket and refusing to process my return, sent the jacket back to me, and refuses to answer my calls or emails. I spent a year dealing with these clowns. They are negligent and have no clue what they are doing. They got the measurements wrong not once, but twice in row! And now because they don't want to have to pay for the jacket (presumably the manufacturer is not to blame so they would be stuck with the bill) they are looking for loopholes in their return policy to stick me with the bill despite the fact that this is clearly their fault. DO NOT BUY THINGS FROM THIS STORE - THEY HAVE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THEY ARE DOING
