This very cute store, just off of the Third Street Promenade, is absolutely the kind of gift shop to find the perfect present for that special someone. While there are certainly the staples of gift shops here: cards, jewelry, small ceramics and the like, this place is extremely well-curated. And also has some unique features. For example, you can get a custom charm-bracelet made in store. I really enjoyed looking at the assortment of housewares and trinkets. And this was the place that I found the absolutely perfect card for Mother's Day. Prices here were very reasonable and the staff was both friendly and helpful. While I don't live in Santa Monica, the next time I'm there I will most likely swing by. read more

Super cute store with curated goods from small businesses! Everything from candles to self care items and books and unique cards. I've gotten several gifts here, including a bracelet from the adorable custom charm bar. So I passed by today & I saw the little store. I ended up buying this cute little hair clip for my baby. It was only ONE, I just noticed it was $8 dollars... and I just found the same hair clips for $1 dollar at SHEIN for the PAIR. Not sure if she charged me twice or if that's the correct price. I absolutely adore the Lucky Penny General Store. If you enjoy novelties, trinkets, homeware, jewelry, etcetera, then you will easily spend at least an hour in this store just wandering around. The store itself is very cozy, though, and despite many of the items being handcrafted, they are surprisingly affordable. I love the detail that was put into the layout of all the merchandise.
