ZERO STARS!! "SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND BOOK ANOTHER SPA!" - Within a 5 day span Mandara Spa canceled twice on me!! First booked at Marriott Waikoloa Mandara Spa, first they called me the day before my appointment and to ask if I could come in earlier that day at 11AM instead of 3PM, told them that would not work, then the day of my appointment (next day) within two hours of my appointment Mandara Spa call and canceled on me, said the Esthetician got into an accident and had no other Estheticians. Then, I went and booked for 3 days later at the Mauna Kea Resort Mandara Spa and within a hour of my appointment, Mandara Spa called me and cancelled, said their Esthetician went home sick and there were no other Estheticians. Management at Marriott Waikoloa(will email) and all Resorts that have contracted Mandara Spa for their spa services, should be aware of this ongoing pattern how they consistently cancel on their guests for their booked spa services! Literally found my cosmetology angel on earth in a place I wasn't expecting. I don't know if there are enough word to describe just how absolutely wonderful Rhonda is. She's the best of the absolute best. If I could go to her for all my beauty needs, I would absolutely do it in a heartbeat. There truly is no one like her, she's a rare gem in this industry! Her professionalism, wisdom, experience, customer service and personable caregiving culture are the perfect combination for the perfect cosmetologist. Mandara Spa is a better brand because of people like her!! She made my experience unforgettable and I am booking with her every chance I can. I also was so grateful to Kea for helping me out with booking the yappointment with Rhonda after hearing my circumstances of unfortunate events. And to tie the experience in a bow, Daesha at the concierge was SO encouraging and transparent with me about all my hesitations of finding a good cosmetologist that is trustworthy on this island. I wouldn't have ended up in the seat today with a full heart without the three of these ladies coming together to make me feel heard and important. Five stars doesn't explain my gratitude enough. Misleading and stressful front desk experience. Made an appointment for a facial because of a hotel concierge package that combined it with a hair and scalp treatment. Apparently the person who does the hair and scalp treatment wasn't in, but the front desk worker signed us up anyways. After the facial, I asked about the hair and scalp treatment. I was told that the "add-on" is already a part of the facial (a quick scalp massage, not a separate treatment). At the front desk I was told the person who had signed me up for the treatment was new, and didn't know what he was talking about. Similarly, I was told that the hotel concierge incorrectly described the service. So rather than receiving the hair treatment I'd been looking forward to for days, I left the spa feeling let down and stressed out. read more

I'm surprised to see that a hotel that has "resort & spa" in its name have such small spa facilities. Also, I've always had an impression that Mandara Spas were very impressive and luxurious, but I think this particular location is missing its "wow" factor. Facilities are clean and masseuse was really nice, but it isn't the nicest spa I've been to. The locker room is quite small - 24 lockers in total, and from what I was able to see, at least 2 are used for storage for robes and slippers, and several others were locked (not sure why... I was the first appointment, so I had expected any locker I chosen would open). I had to try like 5 or 6 times until I found one that 1) I could open and 2) had both robe and slippers stocked inside. Robes were either short sleeved and shorter length (waffle knit and kind of see through) or extremely large and long. There were 2 showers, 2 sinks, 2 bathroom stalls, and 1 steam room all relatively in the same space. Showers provided shampoo, conditioner, body wash, razor, lotion, and spray deodorant. Sink areas had Q-tips, combs, mouthwash, and hair dryer. Very basic amenities, though I kind of expected more. Lounge area was pretty nice - pitcher of water available and various magazines and spa merchandise on display, but there is definitely lots of foot traffic as it is in the pathway from locker rooms to treatment rooms. My husband and I booked 50-minute hot stone massages. I didn't specifically request to have the same room as my husband, so I was not surprised to be escorted to a single room. After the treatments though, my husband advised that he was put into a room that had two beds. Not sure why they wouldn't have just placed both of us in there when I had reserved the appointments together, and they had known we were husband and wife. My massage was just OK. I've had other hot stone massages where after they use the stone, they place it in various areas (like along the shoulders or back) while they worked on other areas. It didn't happen, but maybe this is just a different technique. There was a lot of oil used. My masseuse made breathing noises to help facilitate taking deep breaths and exhaling deeply throughout the massage. I appreciated this - it helped me to relax. Overall, the massage was good, but facilities could be better. read more

This spa inside of Westin hotel is nice. With covid, they have limited service but you can do body massage. The rate is $150 for 50 minutes. After tax and gratuity, it is about $188. The lady that do the massage wear face shield and mask. If you face down, you don't need to wear your mask. Only when you face up, then you will need to wear your mask. Very disappointed with the lack of transparency when it comes to their pricing, got the impression they decide how much to charge depending on who is asking. I will not use this place again and don't recommend it. I made an appointment for a 50-min massage as a gift for a family member. Upon arrival he learned he was booked for a 80-min massage. I was delighted that I was able to secure that appointment and the head cosmetologist Bobby took great care of me. She was everything that aloha represents. Her kindness, genuineness, professionalism, and patience were on full display. I needed her expert help because I was avoiding in person spa appointments since the pandemic. The amount they charge for a semi-decent massage is obscene. If you choose this Spa, be very careful of how they craft your order- I let them use "rocks" and some cheap oils on me, both of which were, quite frankly, hard to notice and ineffective, yet each cost around 40$ to apply. It was also less a Spa and more a sales pitch. The only place they did not try to sell me something was on the massage bed. They repeatedly tried making my order an 80 minute massage instead of a 50 minute massage, and when it was finally changed they kept pushing the add-ons. Very disappointed with this lack of transparency. I've got an excellent PT at home, and her massages are effective and pleasant, for 1/2 the price. I had the Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage done by Richard. I can't say enough about how relaxed and refreshing his massage made me feel.

For my husband's birthday I booked him a massage and facial. A few hours prior to his treatments they called to let me know that they could not provide the facial because the aesthetician called in sick. I was very disappointed but they made every effort to accommodate him with an 80 minute massage instead of the original 50 minute that I booked him. We also discussed additional treatments we could add to his spa day. They apologized profusely and told me they would make sure to compensate me in some way for the inconvenience. When we arrived for his treatments the concierge informed me that to compensate us for the inconvenience they would comp the massage! I was so thrilled that they would go to such an extent. My husband loved the deep tissue massage from the lead massage therapist and the body polish. He enjoyed a wonderful experience and it really made his birthday extra special.
