can't leave the mandarin without some cotton candy
    Ashley G.

Okay, so my previous thoughts on this buffet still stand. I do think its pretty expensive (it's now $19 for lunch during the weekday), I do think that vegetarians will get bored of the food fast here, and I do think the food is still semi-bland. BUT...the service here is always spectacular. The staff are super friendly, and they really do take good care of you during your stay here. I think other restaurants should take notes!! Beginning your meal and ending your meal with a hot towel is always a bonus! I also enjoy that the washrooms are at the back of the restaurant near the dessert bar. I find it super fitting that after a large meal, before hitting up the desserts, you might as well hit up the bathroom first, right? lol Their sushi is also pretty good, and I kept eating all their avocado rolls during my visit there that they stopped refilling them..lol Also the cotton candy machine was working today (I know in my last review I noted that it was broken). I left with a big cone of cotton candy on my way out. At the end of the day, buffets are buffets...you show up super happy and hungry and leave feeling tired and bloated...(you gotta get that money's worth, lol)

I'm not a big fan of the open buffet or all you can eat style restaurant but truth to be told with the amount of variety of dishes that this restaurant display would make me reconsider. It's like that big family dinner that no one wants to host and you might be forced to attend but eventually, you will go and try to make the best out of it but you won't face that at Mandarin because there's something for everyone and yeah I mean almost everyone just to be politically correct. Endless supply of dishes and great vibes from the staff, they will not spare any effort to make your visit more enjoyable. So yes, plan a dinner party and go for it as the only menu you will need is for the beverages.

The food was excellent and was some of the best I have had in a while. Service was astonishing. All of the employees greeted me as I entered and they offered me warm towels. I wasn't wearing anything to make them think I was special. Absolutely astounding service. The place looks amazing and greatly decorated and the ambiance was calming. I recommend this place at anytime.

    Takeout dinner for six $64.99.

Door Dash was having a $25 off if you spend $50 or more deal, so my brother ordered Chinese food from Lucky Fortune and got it delivered to my parents' place. Fortunately for me, I was visiting my parents when this happened. So I got to partake in the eating of the aforementioned food. Thanks, Bro! Lol. Actually, he knew I was visiting when he placed the order, so he got the food for my parents and I ;) He got the Combination Shanghai Noodles ($17.50), the Black Pepper Beef ($16.25) and the General Tao Chicken ($18.75). A small order of white rice was included at no cost, as were 3 fortune cookies. The Combination Shanghai Noodles had lots of meat it in. It had beef, chicken, BBQ pork as well as shrimp. I was impressed. It also had onions and bean sprouts in it. I really enjoyed the noodles. They weren't too oily, which I appreciated The General Tao Chicken was delicious. Lots of lean meat inside and the ratio of meat to batter was good. It had a bit of spice and even after delivery still had a bit of crispiness on the outside. I really enjoyed this dish too. My brother requested no sesame seeds for me and they accomodated. The Black Pepper Beef had a spicy kick to it too. The beef was tender and came with carrots, bell peppers and onions. The white rice was good and I was pleased it was included without charge. Overall I thought the food was delicious. It was my first time having food from there. I would definitely want to get food from them again. Can't comment on service, ambiance or the parking situation since it was a Door Dash delivery order. Review #67 (2025)

I would rank it on par with food court Thai food, like Thai Express in terms of taste, but the prices were higher than at food courts. This location is takeout and delivery only. Absolutely no place to sit and eat. Their full service restaurant is on St. Joseph. The Thai Dinner for 4 consisted of 8 spring rolls, 10 gyoza, chicken pad thai, chicken coconut curry, basil beef, 2 steamed rice, and fortune cookies, for $66.95, plus tax. When you pick up and your order exceeds $50 before taxes you get your choice of California rolls, fried rice or potstickers for free. I chose the California rolls. The spring rolls were hot and crispy and had a very strong five spice aroma to it. They were vegetarian with cabbage, carrots, onions, bean sprouts, and vermicelli noodles. These were actually better than typical food court spring rolls. The gyoza were very good. They were crispy on the outside and filled with pork and cabbage. The chicken pad thai was really bland and plain. It was mostly noodles, with a few slices of chicken. There were minimal vegetables, only a few slices of celery, onions and some beans sprouts. The menu said it contained carrots, but I didn't see or taste any. I was disappointed with this dish :( The chicken coconut curry had more flavour, but had way too many onions in my opinion. It also had broccoli, zucchini, celery, carrots, and mushrooms. It was a tiny bit spicy. The basil beef also had too many onions in my opinion. It had the exact same vegetables as the curry dish. The sauce was a bit spicier than the curry. The rice was good, not too mushy nor too dry. The free California rolls were ok. The avocado and cucumbers tasted fresh. They tasted better than grocery store sushi like at Loblaws, but not as good as fast food sushi like Sushi Shop or Sushi Go, at least that is my opinion. I called in my order and was told it would take an hour. Their estimate was accurate, as they were just finishing up my order when I arrived an hour later. Service was courteous. The restaurant is in the Millennium Plaza at Trim and Innes. It's right next to Yalla Yalla, and in the same plaza as Sobeys and CIBC Bank. Lots of free parking.

The California roll had mayo inside the roll which made it more melt in your mouth goodness. Avocado roll was buttery and delicious! Rice was perfectly seasoned and super fresh! They weren't stingy with the avocado in the rolls either! Also ordered hot and sour soup, almond guy ding, crispy beef (for the hubby), spring roll (which thankfully DID NOT taste like deep fryer oil...it was AH-MAZING!) , egg rolls and a won ton soup. Everything came nicely packed, and the delivery was pretty quick, especially when they noted to us that they were super busy and delivery might take a bit longer. Seriously, with this restaurant having such a diverse and yummy menu, I am not even going to waste my time ordering from other asian restaurants anymore when this place seriously hits the spot every time.

Willie's is a bit of distance from my neighbourhood but I tried it several years ago after I found other places too expensive and/or inconsistent and a family member recommended them. The food is always great -- good portions, fresh and flavourful. And I haven't done a precise comparison but I believe they are between 15-35% cheaper than any of the other Asian restaurants I've tried in the east end. I know it's a bit unfair to compare different types of take-out. But when some places charge over $100 for a two-person dinner order and you barely get fed (most of the Indian, Thai and pho take-out places and many of the Chinese restaurants), and I still can get at least FOUR full meals out of a $75 Willie's order (and usually a bit more), I know where I'M gonna put my hard-earned take-out dollars.
