We are here to see The Recipe (life and times of Julia Child). They have a kitchen replica as you walk in. You can get your celebrity shot there! This play is so well written. Very tight scripting. This play is so well acted. Transitions are seamless. This play is hilarious! Next stop? New York would not surprise any of us, who came to see it. The staff at The Playhouse is so warm and welcoming. Both young and old are well taken care of. And guess what? I'm buying a subscription! You cannot beat this for local theatre. And I am comparing it to other venues in San Diego. No issues about parking. Not a bad seat in the house. I'm telling you, this play runs till almost the end of the month. Grab any seat available. Go alone if you have to. Don't miss The Recipe. With garlic, gusto and gratitude, Chef Marian San Diego & Carlsbad Foodies

After spending $10 I somehow ended up winning TWO prizes! Overall this is total LOVE LETTER to all things nerdy! I didn't really expect much from a claw machine arcade since my typical experience at such places is usually disappointment or of being ripped off. This place is the complete opposite! There's so much heart and care put into the store. They also have an area with manga and a switch to play, so you can hang out a bit after playing on the machines. Additionally they have cool anime inspired drinks and rare items like keychains and desk ornaments for purchase, imported directly from Japan. And...free 2 hour parking validation which is CLUTCH! Working on coming back to trade up for the Labubu blind boxes.

This place is so legit and started a month ago in the PB area. You can also trade in the prizes for bigger ones and the stuffed animals are also arranged in a way you can easily grab them. We've already seen "The Jungle Book Kids" and "101 Dalmations" at J*Company Youth Theatre at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center in UTC. I was surprised at how professional these performances were! The kid-actors range in age from about 7 years old to 18 years old. They are surpisingly very talented in acting and singing! The stage decor and costumes were delightful as well. We got a group of 20+ to go together as "Family Day at the Theatre." All mommy's and daddy's enjoyed the performance but most importantly ALL OUR CHILDREN WERE ATTENTIVE AND EXCITED! Our children, ages infant to toddler, really enjoyed the performances ... imagine that! We plan on continuing to attend the plays in the 2008-2009 Season (and beyond) and maybe later...enroll our daughter in classes (beginning at age 4). The J*Company 2007-2008 15th Season included: High School Musical; The Jungle Book Kids; AIDA; and 101 Dalmations. Next season, 2008-2009 includes: Pocahontas; Into The Woods; and Fireflies. Plan ahead! I have one more hint ... each ticket is $16.50 (for anyone older that 2). However, if you get together ALL your friends and buy 20 tickets at one time ... the tix are ONLY $10.50 a piece! Good deal! There are also student discounts available but group ticket prices are the most affordable. Enjoy!

But if you are looking for a way to bring your child into the arts, pull them out of their shell, and introduce them to a fantastic group of kids from all over the county, J*Company is the place to do it. The director, Joey Landwehr is a wonderful person and teacher. I guarantee your kid will absolutely love the experience here. And then we get to the productions themselves. Every production is so well-done. The last play, The Pirates of Penzance was absolutely charming. Kids and adults were laughing and cheering throughout the show. Many of the performances sold out. The next show is Annie and our cast is outstanding. You have to check it out and get your tickets early because it will be a sell-out. http://tickets.lfjcc.org/eventperformances.asp?evt=182

The level of instruction is top tier with professional training for singing, dance, and acting. The level of fun and comradery is so high that he's come away with friends he still hangs out with a year later. The best part for the kids is the show they put on at the end of the camps or the rising starts production. For the short amount of time they work on the show in the camps (longer for the production), the kids put on an amazing show that blows the audience away. Anyway, it checks all the boxes for me: fun, friends, learning, growth.

I took a 5 minute ride via Lyft to UTC La Jolla AMC and was able to get great seats at an IMAX theater to watch Odyssey a 3 hour movie. Theater 13 wasn't as hugh as I expected but the comfy reclining seats centered to the screen was great. The seats were comfy and theater was clean, with not too many people inside. Service by the staffers was just ok. It would have been better if there was a manager onsite, because there were some kids running around the lobby without parental supervision. I like kids playing but not in a lobby with marble floors, where there can be a potential slip and fall and some kid hurts themselves. A manager or some staffer should have some oversight. The concessions guy who helped me with the kiosk which inconveniently froze its screen must have done this before because he fixed it. Afterwards, I witnessed him washing his hands before getting my bottled water, I did thank him for his help. The movie: Odyssey had received great reviews, for director, actors and actresses, storyline and the cinematography. I enjoyed the many geographical scenes, which were spectacular on the 70mm screen, along with Dolby sound system. Was disappointed that this theater doesn't offer a more elevated luxury experience by offering better food and drinks service with a press of a button. The IPIC theater in Westwood Los Angeles does and IPIC theaters throughout the LA county, even if it costs more, the convenience and service during a 3 hour movie can justify the costs. With so many high end retail shops opening here at UTC, there are lots of people who are willing to splurge $$$$ for a better movie theater experience. This AMC theater at UTC La Jolla is not bad can be improved.
