This is my favorite AMC in San Diego, I love the reclining seats and the heating function. The service here has always been fine & food is generally pretty quick when ordered on the mobile app or via their self-service kiosks. The employees do a good job of keeping the theater clean. The AMC in the UTC mall was previously the Arch-light Theater. I last visited when this theater first opened, but I have not been there since it was converted to AMC, so I was excited to see what it would be like. All of the theaters have seating that are converted into nice reclining seats now. This was my primary reason for selecting this theater, because I have a hard time sitting in regular theater seats. The reclining seats are much more enjoyable on my back. Theater quality, this place is nice, and the theater is clean. The picture and sound quality is perfect for watching a movie. My issues are with the customer service. As much "self serve" as possible is practiced here. From getting your tickets to getting your snacks....everything is done from a kiosk. My other complain was with the nachos. AMC has traditionally used the Tostitos brand for the chips and cheese. They have now switched over to a brand called Ricos, which is horrible. The chip were stale and the cheese had the strangest aftertaste. It was so bad that we did not finish ours. On the way out, I was going to mention something to a worker, but there was no one to be found, and it wasn't worth the time. I'll definitely be back, because it's the closest location to me. But I'll make sure I'm full before I go. read more

You can only order food or drinks from the kiosks, so make sure you scan your AMC memberships from your app to get your points! Despite this AMC being located at a pretty popular outdoor mall, we were able to enjoy this theatre as if it were just us and a few others. As most AMCs, you can get tickets online in advance or just use the self-serve kiosks at the front. I like that there's multiple of them so it's easy to grab tickets without needing to wait in any lines. $9+ for a regular popcorn a la carte, with the large popcorn being $10+. I like that the food pickup counter is large enough to get supplies like boxes or soda lids on each side. The staff was very efficient and we got our popcorn very quickly. I enjoyed the recliner chairs!!! (A must) Super grateful for them and the heated feature worked very well also. read more

It's difficult to apply promotions and activating rewards without getting the help from the employees. There is only one that checks you in, and a single person making the orders, not taking them. Came here to see Toy Story 5 last night. Ticket prices are pretty average. They have very comfy heating/ cooling reclining seats. The AC definitely works well. There is much customer service to speak because everything is done at the kiosk when you first walk in. The only time you encounter employees is when they tell you where your theatre is and when you pick up your order from concessions. We went to the 10:45p showing and our popcorn was fresh and tasty. WOW!!! Theater totally revamped...NEW RECLINING SEATS! Super comfortable, BEST in the area. I used to frequent Cinepolis Del Mar but they've been having years of problems with their seats from mechanical, lopsided, & ripped leather, with management saying it's been difficult to get parts, I'm taking my business here and telling everyone about it! Buy your tickets online or at the kiosk when you enter. Few employees as they're mostly self serve now, from buying tickets to ordering food on screens, but the few employees that were there were all super friendly and nice. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked, food seemed fresh, fresher than most AMC theaters, convenient to park BUT validation only adds one hour. Miss the old Arclight extra 2 hours for parking. Got charged $3 for parking since F1 movie is over 2.5 hrs long (don't forget to add about 30 minutes for previews, and the time it takes to park). Since most movies aren't this long, 3 hrs is usually enough for a single movie. Loved their DOLBY Theater!!! Excellent sound system that rumbles beautifully. Seats don't recline flat but enough to be comfortable and plushy. Enjoy! read more

Love this theater. It was closed for a while and now it's back, remodeled and better than ever. The theater is very clean, the seats are nice, and they have a new computer based ordering system for food which makes things pretty easy (less lines). UTC mall does charge for parking over 2 hours now but there are small kiosks in the theater where you can scan your ticket to increase parking time...which is nice for longer movies or if you grab food first. There's so many great food options in the mall, parking is super easy and overall this was a great movie experience. read more

Doing to the movie with your service dog and/or brain injury, read this one. Pro tip. Park on level 2 handicap parking. Go up one level. That's the best parking option I have found. And don't forget to bring your parking ticket.... To validate. Pros - customer service is strong, where there are humans. Seats are comfy. Cons. Confessions. Only orderable on the screens. Which is really overwhelming and hard to navigate to anyone with autism, tbi or vision issues. And there is no way to order without using this system. It does not seem ADA Compliant or even friendly. I tried this theatre after swearing it off, due to ADA compliance (or lack). I tried it again. Bad idea for me. read more

LIke that this theatre is at the mall. Also lve that they host the Film Festival. They do have a couple theatres now where the seats are the lay back ones but there is no table in between so everyone is next to each other and they don't lay back all the way, the head part is still forward a bit and in my opinion uncomfortable. The theatres are clean and nice and a ton of them. The concessions are great and location fantastic. Better than the sit up theatre for sure which they still have mostly of, except they are stadium style so each person has a good view. read more

This was my first visit to this AMC theater and I thought it was really nice. The theater seats were clean and comfortable. The popcorn was freshly popped and the condiments station was organized. I restrooms were also very clean and well stocked. Overall, my friend and I enjoyed our movie (Fly Me to the Moon). One thing I wish that I had known was there's a station where you can validate your parking ticket. I left mine in the car by accident and ended up paying $6.00. read more

Went on a Tuesday for their 50% off promotion and I would say that it's worth it. The reclining seats are very nice and have a heat setting. The theater was clean for the most part. The bathrooms, however, were pretty disgusting and most of the stalls didn't have toilet paper. The staff seemed friendly. They also validate for parking. read more

The future is here people... and by future, I mean an UPDATED theater with updated concessions. Basically, concessions is now contactless where you order at kiosks at the front. If you order a candy, you can pick that up right next to you. If you order anything else like a drink or food, you will pick that up at the pick up counter with an AMC worker. The interior is a lot more sleek and minimal. The theater auditoriums have been updated with comfortable reclining chairs, which also have seat warmers! The reclining chairs make the whole movie experience that much more enjoyable and comfortable. read more

Cosmetic upgrades and recliner seats are nice, much needed considering how outdated this theater used to be, but they have completely wrecked their ordering system. Took us over 15 minutes to receive our popcorn, there's no formal system and is a complete free for all to get what you ordered. You also completely lose a perk from the premiere membership since they have eliminated the normal line vs premiere member line but the price of the membership is the same. Highly disappointed and I would much rather travel down the road to AMC La Jolla 12 in the future. read more

About 75% of the time that I come here, the parking things aren't working. They weren't tonight, and many people were having problems scanning their tickets. In the mens bathroom, 2 urinals were covered and not working, so we had a line. The Angelika Film Center is my favorite theater in town. I don't expect other theaters to be as good, but...this place is a disaster (and I hate the concession stand way of ordering food now). read more

I went to AMC UTC Westfield for the Captain America: Brave New World premiere, excited to see the film on opening night. Honestly, I probably wouldn't have left a review if it weren't for the incredible customer service I received from the manager on duty. I typically don't leave reviews unless something truly stands out, whether positive or negative, but she went above and beyond and it made all the difference for me. As a huge Marvel fan, I was excited to get the special Captain America popcorn bucket. Since I wanted to keep it as a collectible, the staff kindly gave me a regular popcorn box instead while keeping the bucket sealed in its plastic cover. After the movie, I realized I had accidentally left my bucket at the seat next to me. By the time I went back, it was already gone. I explained the situation to a staff member at the concession stand, and they immediately connected me with the manager. She listened attentively, asked to verify my receipt, and after confirming my purchase, she sincerely apologized that it had been taken. But what really stood out was what she did next. Not only did she offer to replace my bucket, but she also carefully selected the best-looking one, knowing that some had minor defects other customers had pointed out. That level of thoughtfulness and attention to detail really meant a lot! The theater itself was fantastic. Clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. The popcorn was fresh, the drink stations were tidy compared to other nights during higher traffic of customers, and the reclining seats made the whole experience feel extra relaxing. Again, not necessarily something I'd go out of my way to review, but it certainly contributed to the overall five-star visit. While I already knew this in advance, the only downside is the parking situation. Since the theater is inside Westfield Mall, you have to pay for parking, which can feel like an unnecessary added expense. It would be great if there were some kind of validation system for moviegoers. If I were reviewing purely on the theater itself, that might have brought my rating between 3-4 stars. However, the outstanding customer service I experienced, especially from the manager is what made this a visit worth recognizing. I only came with the expectations to enjoy a movie, but I left with an experience worth sharing. I looked up whether or not AMC would have comfortable chairs. Per their website, the Dolby theater has reclining seats and selected the Dolby "buy tickets" button and purchased from that link. When I bought the tickets, they were around $22 each, so I anticipated that they'd be the recliners as advertised. When I showed up, it was the regular seating, not the recliners. The movie was awesome, but I was not comfortable for 2 hours, and I had already paid, and the movie was about to start. I'm not sure how to buy tickets for the Dolby reclining seats since I had gone through the direct link. ANYWAYS. Rant over. The theater itself was difficult to get to from parking, which was scarce. We had to walk around the building and through the mall. Ideally a parking structure should be close to the movies, but I suppose that it's the malls' way to drum up business as people HAVE to walk though the mall to get to the theater. Parking does cost money, but THEY DO VALIDATE. Bring your parking ticket with you, and there's a little scanner against one of the walls. All in all, good movie, but difficult to get to, parking is scarce, and it's always expensive. I'd prefer to go to a Cinépolis for that price. read more

Overall 9/10 Came here during opening night for the taylor swift showing and it was packed. The staff was friendly and efficient even when the lobby was chaotic and crowded. The food was okay, the pocorn was constantly fresh which was a bonus! I was scared at firdt because the reviews were pretty bad. However the parking and validation was a breeze. I believe it's a skill issue if you cant figure out how or where to validate your ticket. It has multiple validation machines along the walls. I saw some people scan there ticket and leave right away even after it said validation failed. I waited until the screen said validation successful. You just have to be patient. As for the parking, there are signs all over the mall leading you to AMC. I only gave it 9/10 because of the lack of human interaction given that the whole theater has gone fully automated. It is not as efficient as it seems. When there are multiple kiosk's glitching, people who dont know how to use it, or when it simply stops working - it adds more delay. read more

I don't know what's happened to AMC and especially the AMC at UTC. It should be well managed and maintained. It has great reclining seats. But Tuesday 12:45 showing of F1. Got tickets and seats online. Got to theatre. No one said anything when we showed the tickets to get in. No one sent us a notice or email. We have paid Premier membership level. We go into the theater (theater 1). Sound but no picture. There's no sign at the theater that there will be no show. No one from staff comes into the theater to tell people no show. Several in audience go to desk. The report they don't have anyone who can fix the picture. We can go to desk and get our money back. Is this any way to run a railroad??? Also the sound was loud and distorted. Definitely not quality sound. The best part was the nice fully reclining seats. The worst part no picture. In the old days they had picture but no sound. (silent pictures). Now the new thing is loud sound but no picture. Like phone with screen that doesn't work. read more

Came here the other night, generally it's an ok theater, but due to their "remodeling" would not recommend. The popcorn tasted old and stale and the staff weren't really helpful in guiding thru the chaos of the remodeling. Date of visit: January 8, 2023 While I was bummed that the Arclight had closed at Westfield UTC, I was surprised to see that AMC had turned it into its newest acquisition... and then I attended a movie there. Even though the marquee says AMC, it still has the Arclight feel to it. That is, the seats, while plush, don't recline; there's no dedicated line for AMC Stubs/A-List members at the concession stands; and you can't even refill your drinks the way you want it seeing how there isn't a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine. (I guess the other AMC cinema locations I frequent have spoiled me.) Additionally, the individual theaters don't have the movie playing listed on the outside - I had to use my app to see which theater was playing M3GAN. Overall, I felt that all AMC did was put its name over the Arclight's bones without upgrading the theater to its normal standards. I guess next time I'm in the area, I'll just drive further down to the AMC 12 in La Jolla (at least there, you don't have to worry about getting your parking validated). read more

The recent renovation has some good and some bad. The new recliner seats with heating are great; their theaters were always so cold. The "guide you to the exit" lighting on the low divider wall in the theater is bad. It's really distracting from the movie to have a light shining from underneath the screen the whole time. The new no-contact concession kiosks could be good or bad depending on the time of day that you go. If it's night, they're great. Order on the touch screen, grab your candy from the shelves below, and pick up your popcorn at the counter. If it's day, the glare on the screens is so bad you can't read them and that candy is right in the hot sun. The time we went none of the concession kiosks were working. All drinks are by the Coke Freestyle machines, so you have a million combo choices. Because everything is self-service now, they only had two employees there. Also the last time we went, the Ladies Room by the theaters was closed, so you had to go all the way out to the lobby Ladies Room. Half the sinks weren't working, there was no soap, stalls were taped off, and several of the available seats were soaking wet. I think they need to add a third employee. read more
