Dr. Lanzarotti and his team are awesome…read more Navigating the medical system can be tricky business and oftentimes you can end up with doctors, PAs and nurses that just don't care or don't take the time to fully explain things to you. When you bounce around between different departments and specialists, it can get all that much more confusing, too. (When you're sick or seeking medical attention, you probably have a lot of questions, and you deserve to have them answered.) I was referred here to rule out any cardiac issues/irregularities and am so happy I was - during my visit I spoke with the nurse, the office PA and Dr. Lanzarotti, all in one visit. They explained the next course of actions to me and more importantly, they explained the why behind those actions. TL;DR: if you're in the market for a cardiac specialist, I highly rec Dr. L + his team.

They took the shirt off my back ... and then they lost it!…read more I have gone to this hospital for decades and generally have been satisfied. However, yesterday I had an experience that needs to be corrected. I was admitted to the ER for a cardiac issue and then moved to the cardiac observation unit for the remainder of the day and overnight. Unfortunately, the orderly who transported me -- he had black hair and a black beard -- used a gurney to transport and lost two articles of clothing. I don't know his name, but I distinctly remember the bag that held the clothing fell off the gurney and i remember him retrieving it. However, when I was discharged today, that bag could not be found in my room. it contained a T shirt and a grey long-sleeve dress shirt with a button-down collar my mother bought for me. That shirt has great sentimental value and I notified the Public Safety Unit and the ER of what happened. We could not find the shirt today, but I was told to call in a day since "it is probably sitting on a cart somewhere. Since my mother passed away four years ago at about this time, I'm sure you can understand how much that shirt means to me. An error becomes a mistake only if you fail to correct it, and I hope the person who handled my clothing and Public Safety can correct this mistake. To be clear, I had a decent experience with ER personnel and got excellent care from the cardiac unit. I only hope that my shirt can be found. if not, this will be a Christmas Eve I will be forced to remember --and not in a good way.

My father went in for robotic double by-pass surgery on December 22, 2011. It is now March and he is still suffering from multiple complications as a result of this process. Dr. Balkhy is no longer his doctor.
