Had appointments for a year to do color and trim. The initial appointment my hair had to be cut to get rid of split ends and to get my hair one length. I would have expected that it would be longer instead of shorter in a year. I made my goal know at the beginning. I wanted my hair one length and wanted to grow it back below shoulder length. That is not what happened. In fact, on my last visit my hair was burned. She did 3 treatments after rinsing the color out. On my way home my scalp began to burn and I got blisters. Scheduled my appointment, was excited to try a new salon. The person my appointment was with didn't know how to cut shorter hair. So I waited for her colleague, who supposedly knew how to cut the style I wanted. Worst haircut I've ever had, one side was much shorter. I went in to get it corrected after my initial cut because the initial cut was awful, uneven and chopped. The second stylist tried to correct it, but still it is very uneven and difficult to style. I now have a pixie that I didn't want. I would not ever recommend or will I go back. read more

Three visits to this salon in about 3 months. almost $900 spent all together to try to get something right. last visit was going to try to get my greys blended so I don't have to keep covering them. Well the toner wore off within two washes. I now have brassy, weird looking highlights with over an inch of grey hair (missed from the visit before the last). Arrived to my 830 appt to find the salon closed and opening at 900am. I thought, ok I have time to wait. I waiting 30 minutes... when the salon opened I was told sorry, we tried to call you and tell you XYZ will not be in until 12, can we reschedule you for a different day? THEY DIDN'T EVEN CARE! I had this scheduled weeks in advance, I got confirmation calls and e-mails the day before. They have no respect for clients time. Two months ago, I was scheduled to be in Winchester for one night and thought I would schedule something before an important meeting the next day. Appointment was made, that was it. Two days later, I needed to cancel since the trip was cancelled, but I continued to receive email blasts from Mane Attraction. Being a new Virginian, I was very anxious to find my new go-to hair salon. Asked around the locals and they all recommended Mane Attraction- specifically Valerie. When I first walked in, I realized my online appointment confirmation was different from what I originally decided. Turns out their online scheduling appointment IS NOT quite the most accurate. It might show there is availability the day you want it but in fact, it'll bump you to the next available date. I recommend calling in to schedule for now... or at least until they've changed their scheduling system. Despite this mishap, the front desk receptionist was able to talk to Valerie for me and she was able to squeeze me in. I can't rave enough about Valerie especially since I was super nervous going in. She has so much experience (including teaching experience) under her belt. I knew I chose a good one the moment I saw her. Her hair is gorgeous and she colors it herself! Showed her a variety of the same-same but different hairstyles/cuts I wanted and she delivered. I was initially skeptical because she had just cut it, quickly let me see it in the mirror, and before I knew it, she was going for the curling... so I wasn't 100% sure if I'd like it straight (since that's how my hair normally is). Well... next morning and showered... and the cut is what I wanted. She did everything was quick that it was probably the fastest cut that I've ever had. Valerie is also such a sweetheart with restaurant/brunch recommendations! I give Valerie a 5 and I can't wait to go back to her already. Just a FYI, she works Thurs-Sat and it's every other Saturday. I'm only giving this place a 4 because of the hair wash. Loved the head massage and everything ... but only got one towel to place over my shoulders. Didn't really dry my hair enough or squeeze the water out enough to warrant just one towel. I had to ask for another one and of course, my hair still soaked through. I recommend asking for a cover prior to getting the hair wash or at least try to squeeze enough water out that your clothes and back won't get wet. read more

When she left Mane Attraction did not give me her information so I may continue seeing my hairdresser of 15 years. If they were greedy and did not give me this information. So I tried Kristy Steadman, she was very conservative with her cut and it was a bad one but at least she did not chop off my hair length. I sensed she had a limited skill set as she tried to thin a a section of my bangs that I had a hole in my bangs. Those pieces were so short I am still growing them out from October. Now I returned to her in December, just because she was conservative. Since she was conservative, trusted that we can gradually work together and I was willing to put in the work even though I drive pretty far. This time I asked that my curls come out more (since she barely cut the layers the last time and it fell flat) WELL THIS TIME SHE CHOPPED AT LEAST 8-10 INCHES OFF MY HAIR. How can a hair dresser lie to your face saying they love long hair and chop your hair off with out even consulting with you about it. Then when she was done with her slaughter, giving no care of refining it that even men notice was a chop job. She said well you were not in the chair very long don't you want any thing else? TELL YOUR CLIENTS WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO BEFORE YOU CUT THAT MUCH OFF THERE HEAD WHEN THEY DID NOT ASK FOR IT. She said the hair on the floor was all in the layers but my length was minimum 4 inches shorter of healthy beautiful hair. The layers are now so short they don't make it into a pony tail, my hair is so thin now. This woman as no idea the consequences of her actions have on the lives of women. I trusted her and she broke that trust. Don't trust your locks to this butcher. UPDATE: I just visited a new upscale hair salon. The stylist was amazed how chopped and it wasn't blended and it was grossly uneven. It took her 90 minutes to get my hair back and now my hair is up to my shoulders fixing my mid back length hair that was butchered by Kristy Steadman. The new stylist said for me not to return for 4 months because the right side is thin because the layers were so chopped off and uneven. She was amazed that Kristy had 20 years of experience. Mane Attraction does not care about the quality of stylist in their salon. I should have never trusted this salon just because I was happy with another stylist that left them. read more

I purchased my wife a $400 dollar spay day on 2/15/24. The package was recommended by the front desk staff, who at the time were very helpful. When the item was purchased, I wanted to make the appointment for this Saturday 2/17/24, but the time was booked up. I was informed that they were about 3 to 4 weeks out at most, which was fine. I had to have this completed before April. My wife called in to schedule today (Desiree Rose) and was told April 20th (9 weeks out) was the earliest she could get in. I was disappointed, so I simply asked for a refund since I made the purchase less than 24 hours ago on the premise of an earlier appointment. I was told that I could not receive a refund (by a manager) and there was no exception to the rule. I really don't understand why I cannot be accommodated, since I was provided false information. If this were resolved in a better fashion I would gladly come back, but I will never return to this spa after this experience nor will I recommend anyone to do so. Customer service does not seem to be the most important focus for this company. read more

Two weeks ago today, I was severely burned getting my eyebrows waxed at Mane Attraction. My stylist tried to say it must have been my skincare and totally tried to place the blame on me. Waxing should come with a warning there. She said she would pay for my medical bills, but when it came time to pay, she was no where to be found and didn't respond to my messages for 2 weeks. She was my stylist for 10 years, but I'll never go there again. You don't receive 2nd degree burns from waxing unless the wax is too hot! Take responsibility. You made a mistake. I booked an appointment last minute with Mane Attraction, and kindly enough, they squeezed me in a day early, knowing what works with my schedule. Visiting Mane Attraction for my very FIRST time, I was very pleased what I saw. Not only is the atmosphere surrounded by some of the most welcoming stylists, including the receptionists, the salon stylists are extremely nice, and consult with you what is in your price range/ what would look best. My stylist today was Jackie, and she turned my dark brown rat nest head, into a beautiful blonde Balyage miracle! I was so satisfied with my experience. I went to Mane Attraction for their Rosemary Mint Awakening Body Wrap. I wasn't sure what to expect, either of the salon or the service, but was pleasantly surprised. I had Claudia for my spa service, and she was fabulous. My friend had Janie and really liked her as well. She was friendly without being too chatty. The service involves lying down in warm blankets, and being exfoliated (my person used gloves, but they can use a brush too). They apply lotion, which is essentially as good as a massage. They clean your feet and give a foot massage. While tucked in the warm blankets, they massage your scalp with essential oil. It's very relaxing, and the skin is super soft afterwards! The spa part of the building was really well done. There's a sitting area with free water and snacks. The spa is separate from the salon so it feels like a calm oasis the second they open the door. There are many massage and facial rooms, so a party could all be accommodated at once. My friend and I decided to get our hair shampoo and styled last minute because we didn't want to shower off the lotion. My stylist, Cheryl, was awesome. She even showed me how to curl my hair with a flatiron and gave me pointers on styling at home. My friend was less satisfied with her hair, but I think it's because we didn't give a heads up that we wanted the service and her stylist was in a rush to leave. As a bonus, the shampoo and style ended up being free with our spa service. They didn't tell us that in advance, but it was a pleasant surprise. I highly recommend Mane Attraction, and definitely will be returning for other services in the future! read more

I just moved to Winchester, and at the recommendation of a friend, decided to try mane attractions for a highlight and haircut. With very curly hair, and more than a few bad hair experiences under my belt, I am always timid trying somewhere new, but Ashley was amazing. She listened to what I wanted, offered suggestions, and even checked with me that the length she was taking off was okay (nothing worse than a trim turning into a complete makeover, am I right?). I am visiting my niece in Winchester. She treated me to a killer haircut by Kaitlyn. Loved it. Yesterday we decided to go for a massage. She booked an hour hot stone and I just an hour chair massage. When we got there, the masseuse took me back and told me it would be uncomfortable for her physically to do their advertised chair massage and I should have a traditional massage. More money she said. I insisted I wanted a chair massage and she got upset and went to a storage area to get the chair and appeared to be struggling. I told her to forget it and went to the Lobby. She and another masseuse were whispering to each other in front of me. I asked them to stop. The other masseuse took my niece for her massage. I sat there for a few minutes, decided to get a pedi. I asked to speak to the manager and explained what happened. She graciously offered me a complimentary pedi with Heather who was awesome. Afterwards my niece told me my to be masseuse was in the back crying to her telling her a story which didn't seem to match mine. My niece got so stressed from this gal crying to her that she didn't enjoy herself. This gal obviously has some emotional issues going on. In any case Heather was awesome. She didn't talk about the incident and I relaxed. So, Heather and the manager saved my day, unfortunately my niece really lost her money and was more stressed walking out than in. She argued about my choice of shampoo, called me a liar when speaking about my prior color applications. Basically they are a waste of time and a waste of money. I've been to the salon on a couple of different occasions for both waxing and massage. The massage was ok until the masseuse told me that my head didn't seem to be connected to my spinal cord. Um....what?! And then the wax - the regular esthestician was unavailable but they told me they could do it at the shampoo bowl. I still had to pay full whack - $50 for eyebrows? really? and it grew in a week later. read more

I have tried over and OVER again to love this place but I just can't. The facials I've had at Mane Attraction aren't bad but the pedicures are rushed and not what I would expect for the price. My final straw was going in to get a french tip shellac (I had to match other women for an event...I HAD to have the french mani) and the nail tech complained the WHOLE TIME about how hard/awful it was to do a french shellac mani, how people are CONSTANTLY asking for them, etc., etc. Mane Attraction needs to be careful about its reputation. This is too small of a town to charge that much and give terrible outcomes. IMHO. read more

I absolutely LOVE Mane Attraction, Sara is AMAZING, she always makes sure that every hair is in place, she has been the only person to touch my hair since moving to VA three years ago when I had to leave my wonderful stylist Kelly in WV. Last Saturday Sara wasn't in and I had an absolute hair emergency so I had Valerie cut and style it, she is great too. They really pay attention to what you want and do exactly what you ask, then they give really great styling advice. I have never walked out of that salon unhappy. (They also give this fantastic scalp massage during your shampoo) I would recommend this salon to anyone, ask for Sara or Valerie. read more

I went to Mane Attraction yesterday. I had 16 $10 gift cards that I received from a local event. There was no writing on the cards that they were to be used as a $10 off coupon, one per person, per visit. It said gift of: $10 on each. So, I wanted to use all of them at once because there was nothing on them stating I couldn't. Although the management was not happy, understandably so (although not my fault), they accepted them and I received a spa pedi, a mani, and a 30 minute neck, shoulder, back massage for free. The mani and pedi were great. The woman was very nice and did a great job. I'd say it was the best I've had in this area. The massage was wonderful. The masseuse was perfect. Really hit the spot. She even spent more than 30 minutes on me. Again, probably the best 30 minute massage I've had in the area. Although I pushed hard and received these services, the management still did honor something that they didn't want to. I'd definitely go back again. I read the other reviews and didn't notice any dirtiness in the spa. Every one was very nice considering the situation. read more

We just had the Valentine's Day Couple's Massage. Our massage therapists were Brandy and Janie. We were very impressed. They did such a good job. They were professional, courteous and very relaxing. I could tell that they were really putting forth quite an effort to make sure we were completely happy. I felt that they genuinely cared about how we felt. Janie massaged me and my girl had Brandy. Janie was very responsive to the things I requested. I can't stress enough how impressed I was with these two. They just seemed so genuinely caring. Oh, and they're real cute! I'm visiting from out of state and decided at the last minute to get a Brazilian wax. I had a horrible experience at a salon in Kansas few years ago and was terrified to try it again. I CANNOT say enough about Claudia!! She was so incredible! Fast, efficient, professional, kind and gentle! My entire Brazilian took about 15 minutes (my first one at another salon took over 45 min) and was as pain free as could be. Seriously! If Claudia lived in my state, I would ABSOLUTELY be doing this more often! Please book with her if you're needing a Brazilian or just want to try it out for the first time. I was at MAS & WS last week for a last minute facial before a photo shoot. Stacy was my Aesthetician and was fabulous. During my appt I mentioned the chicken pox scars on my face and how to get rid of them (peel, dermabrasion). She was VERY knowledgeable and mentioned I should do a few sessions of derm. I asked her if she had time to do it during my appt that day and she was very accommodating. My skin looked radiant when I was finished. Can't wait to go back next week for my next treatment. I also go to MAS&WS for hair cuts. Sara S. is my stylist and is absolutely phenomenal. She's one of only two stylists who has ever actually styled my hair after my cut so that I didn't look like an old woman. I LOVE Sara. Ask for her or even Jeremy. They are both fantastic. read more

I brought my wedding party to Mane Attraction on my wedding day- I thought it was great that all 8 of us could have our hair done at the same time. I booked a particular service for each of them, but later found out that each of them were given a service that was more than double the price of what I asked for. It was not until I went to pay that I was told that each of their services ended up being more expensive and I owed more than $200 over what I had originally was told when I booked. I asked if they had informed the wedding party that what they were having done was more expensive, and was assured that they were each told before the service was performed and each of them agreed and said the extra price was no problem. It being my wedding day and being in a rush, I trusted the employee and signed for the charges. I later found out that none of the bridesmaids were told that they were receiving a more expensive service and if they knew the increased cost, they never would have had it done. When I called the salon to raise the issue, I could not reach a manager for weeks. When I finally was able to speak to the manager, she raised her voice at me, was extremely rude, condescending, and would not let me get a word in; no apology whatsoever. I ended the call in tears. I will never go back to this salon and do not recommend it to anyone. read more
