What I find disappointing about Regal Nails is that yeah, it's cheap, but it lacks. I feel like they're always in a huge hurry, and the work suffers as a result. When I'm in Chicago I can get a mani-pedi for $35 where it's much more thorough and high quality; yes, I realize it's in a different place, but it seems silly that in a city of 3 million I can get better services for the same price... and everyone blames big cities for being expensive. The salon is kept very clean and they seem to have very good equipment to work with. The ladies working there are very pleasant and personable. For the record, I am a guy and I typically only get a buzz cut. The part I like the most about it is that they accept walk-ins. That makes it very convenient for me as I am usually pretty busy so when I can find a couple minutes to get my haircut, they can usually find a couple minutes to slide me in, in between appointments. Beyond the pricing, we felt rushed throughout the appointment, and the staff came across as rude and unwelcoming. There was very little communication or customer service during the visit. Had I been there when my grandmother paid, I absolutely would have questioned the pricing, especially after looking up the pricing on their website. Given the lack of transparency and the unusually high charges, it genuinely felt like she was taken advantage of.

Many of the hair salons listed were located in downtown SC. Though several of the salons had decent reviews, they appeared to be on the pricier side. In addition, I did not want to drive 15-20 minutes and have to hunt for parking. Shear Spirit was one of few hair salons listed in my area. Unfortunately, there were no Yelp reviews, so I decided to do some detective work on the interweb aka Google. Voila! I found what I was looking for. 4.9 stars? Impossible! ...or was it? To know for sure, I'd have to check this place out... At 9:00 a.m., I was the first customer of the day. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by the owner and hair stylist, Barb. The salon had a chic, rustic feel to it. Although my hair had grown out a good amount, it was barely shoulder length. I didn't exactly know how I wanted my hair cut.
