I made a terrible mistake coming here. Really disappointed, especially since there were so many good reviews about this place. I debated on writing this review for days because I felt really bad because they people who worked there were so sweet and really nice. I came in with a Groupon for partial highlights and a haircut. I asked a long bob, a hair style that I always get at other places and show the exact same photos I show to all the haircutters/stylists I visit. The dye job is fine. I really like it, actually. However, the hair cut is a little sloppy and wasn't what I wanted. The front looks decent. She cut it around 2-3 inches shorter than what I wanted... I wanted to be shoulder length but my hair does not reach my shoulders (my hair reached below my armpits at the time). I also told her that my hair gets flat when it's long which is why I wanted to cut it... I'm not sure if this translated into choppy layers, but that is what I got. When she finished my hair, I didn't realize that it wasn't what I wanted. Because she curled it, it was hard for me to see the choppy layers and the uneven haircut. So I thought that it looked good when I looked at it in the mirror at the salon. After I washed it, I was quite surprised and extremely disappointed. I asked my friends and they agreed that it was really choppy and doesn't look that great from behind. I'm a pretty busy person so I don't really have time for a high maintenance hairstyle where I need to straighten and curl it every morning. I also try to stay away from high heat since I used to have really damaged hair. It looks pretty messy when I don't style it so I'm not exactly sure what I'm gonna do. Overall, I don't think I'll be coming back. Another reason why I'm disappointed is that I paid $70 for this Groupon. This haircut and dye job is $150 without it which I think is way too expensive for this quality. I've had a $17 haircut that was better than this, sadly. Edit: The owner contacted me (as you can see below). I agreed to have her fix it and she did not respond to my emails or calls. Their customer service and communication is lacking. She said that she would have the receptionist call me but I never received a call. I finally gave up after 2 weeks of trying to contact her and went to another place. Update (12/14/18): I'm not sure why Georgina felt the need to update her response after nearly a year after this incident! I don't even live in Texas anymore. That's how long it's been. Yes we emailed, no she did not try 3 separate dates. She tried ONE DATE AND TIME (a 3 day notice) and I was unable to make it. Even if she did try 3 dates and that didn't work, she still should've tried to contact me. Even if we couldn't find a date that worked for us, she could've offered a refund or a partial refund and I would've been satisfied with that. The fact that she's making these claims and trying to make it look like I'm the one that ignored her is outrageous. Why would I lie? I literally don't benefit in any way because my hair will still a mess and you have my money. I have posted our emails as proof. If she has proof that she DID offer me 3 different dates, I will happily admit that I was wrong. I'm honestly tired of addressing something that happened a year ago. I saw a lot of good reviews and that's why I decided to give this place a try. It's been awhile since I've been here but I just need to get it off my chest. The owner was friendly but I was highly displeased with the service. My nails were uneven, lumpy, crooked, and I've never been embarrassed and try to hide my nails after getting a nail service until this. She was nice and offered to "fix" it but nothing was fixed. It was still bad. Not to mention she also said my nails were too flat and that's why my nails were lumpy....I've always been told I have very feminine nails. I definitely do not have flat nails. Just look at the pictures. I don't understand even if I did have flat nails how does that justify making my nails lumpy and uneven. read more

I went in with a $70 Groupon. I asked for a layered hair cut which ended up being super uneven and choppy. I had to cut pieces myself to even the bottom out. I think she knew this mistake was made because she went on to curl it w/o asking if that's how I wanted it styled. And holy cow did she BURN my scalp with that blow drier! I also asked for an ash blonde balayage. I went in with dark/medium blonde hair (you can see in my profile picture how light it was) so I assumed it would be easy. Now I just have super light ends. I'm shocked because I walk out into the sun for an hour and my hair naturally lightens a full shade.. Very DISAPPOINTED that I will have to spend extra money getting my hair fixed. read more

Isn't it great to walk out of a salon feeling like a sassy million bucks? Yes, yes, it does. And I hadn't had that feeling in a long time...not a salon's fault really when you just go in for trims and get the same cut every 3-4 months. But, this time...new life...new pool...new do, I say! My long hair just wasn't cutting it (pun intended) what with taking dunks in the pool added to the fact that I work from home and don't need to wash/brush/style my hair regularly. Yep, I'm quite the sexy vixen working from home in my ratty robe, my hair all matted up. Sooo, I was determined to cut it off much to Hubby's dismay. You have to know also, that I'm a Groupon Girl when it comes to salons. So, I'm always living a little dangerously there. In this case, the Groupon for a cut and condition for $30, led me to, I think, my new steady hair boss, Madeline. She seemed young at first and I was a little worried because she talked me into touching up my roots and doing a little highlighting but I was in THAT mood, you know, the eff it do what you want to it, mood. My text to my husband a little later was "I have velveeta in my hair and am waiting for her to highlight my money pieces. Then I'm getting a Lob." I feel pretty sure that made him pretty nervous (me too!). But it all turned out fantastic! She left me enough length to get it in a pony tail if needed but it's now long in front and shorter in back, looks great straight or my natural wavy curl and is easy to maintain. And, as much as I've always been a "low maintenance" girl, I LOVE those highlights. Sigh. I'll never leave the salon at under $100 again :( In fact, Groupon or no, I'll be seeing Madeline on the reg now to banish those pesky grays and keep me feeling young n sassy. read more

I found Mane Trendz through Groupon and booked a color service with Mica. The salon is clean and cute. Mica was very friendly, found out what I wanted to have done and set about doing the color service (a complicated one). Now (due to unforeseen issues with my hair) it didn't turn out the way she nor I had intended on the first go but she was very attentive to get me back in and get my hair to a beautiful end product that I am really happy with though it wasn't want I had originally walked through the door intending to get. I really appreciated that she went above and beyond to make sure I had a look I was happy with. Oh and she also fixed a horrible haircut I had received elsewhere. After two appointment and a couple hundred dollars, still don't have the platinum highlights I requested. Georgina does what she wants to hair, not what you request. Plus be sure to ask what she charges, or you could be in for a surprise. Georgina, I never wanted the Balayage, you told me that I needed it and booked it on the spot. I was never told the price. You did not tell me when you booked it, a month in advance, not to use the Viral product that you were aware I was using :-(. Moral of the story, take your time when you make appointments. Make sure everyone is on the same page and agrees on everything. Pretty much all problems stem from a failure to communicate, and that's what happened here. read more

I had Cyrell work on my hair and she did an amazing job. She was also very personable and easy to talk with since I was sitting in a chair for about 6 hours. I got a cut and bayalage done. She listens to what you want and gives you what your hair can handle with realistic expectations. After a few days of getting my hair done, I felt we needed to go a little darker on my bangs. She was more then happy to fit me in to basically make me a happy customer. Highly recommend this salon as they do top quality work. read more

I absolutely love this place, I had such a great experience. My hair stylist Cyrell is by far the best colorist I ever had. I told her what I wanted and she gave it to me. What I love about her the most was how honest she was. I originally wanted my hair a lavender color but I changed it to a beautiful violet because I told her that I was concerned with getting a hair color that wouldn't last long. I found Karlena and Mane Trendz with Groupon. Karlena really listened and worked with me/offered her opinion when appropriate, and she's super sweet! I've already booked my next cut with her. For the few employees and customers in the salon at the time of my appointment, everyone seemed nice and relaxed. Very friendly atmosphere, and no high-brow attitude found at some other salons. The only thing that I notice that might need improvement is the ambiance. While the salon is new, and perhaps they don't have a final design plan in mind, it was rather cavernous... sounds just bounced around. I wouldn't say it was unwelcoming, but it did feel a bit incomplete. All-in-all, I'm pleased with my visit/cut/customer appreciation that I'll be returning. read more

I was in the Buda area for a wedding last Halloween (2015) and visited Mane Trendz to get my hair cut and styled the day of the wedding. The stylist (I wish that I could remember her name) did an amazing job on my hair--it's short with a couple of really difficult cowlicks--and the style stayed for a little over a month which is really incredible for short hair styles. They were super friendly and asked a bunch of questions to make sure we were on the same page regarding my hair. I would absolutely love to go back if it didn't require a day and a half of driving or a flight from Iowa. If you're looking a for quality and courtesy definitely check this place out. read more

After several (5.5) years of trying several different hairstylists in Austin, I FINALLLLLLY found someone here who nailed my color. Nailed it. NAILED. IT. You have no idea what a let down it's been that I couldn't find someone who could fully understand that my. hair. pulls. red!! (aka warmth... brassy... orange... what have you) ...and now, I don't have to settle for the warm hair/cool eyebrows combo any longer. My new stylist's name is Georgina, and she made all my hair dreams come true today. This is difficult to explain, so bear with me. I swear it was like pulling teeth with other stylists trying to get them to understand that my hair pulls red. I had to practically beg them to put ash in it, and they never put the right level of ash (or enough) to make the "more hazelnut - less chestnut" cool brown color that I was looking for (my natural 15 year old hair color). Georgina even knew to add blue to the mixture to further correct the warm hue. Furthermore, she put a toner in the rest of my hair to even it out and correct the unwanted warm residues from past hairstylists. Not only did she nail the color, but she nailed the cut exactly how I imagined. Her confidence and the manner in which she handled my hair put me right at ease - I could tell she's done this before. I knew before we were even done that she was nailing it. I love that she understood what I was trying to say and repeated it back in a way I could understand that she understood what I was trying to say - and then followed through. I was also super relieved that she wrote down my formula after I was very happy with the color. She also offered an even deeper ash for next time if I thought it was still on the warm side (which it isn't!!) I highly recommend Mane Trendz. Everyone there I met was so nice and welcoming. What a fun group. The place feels like a little hang-out/clubhouse type atmosphere, and I laughed a lot while I was there from the interesting conversations. Looking around, I noticed each of the stylists were doing some sort of ombré or balayage with ultra beautiful unnatural colors on their clients. Most of the clients had long hair, like mine. There were a couple of shorter haired clients, too. Each of the stylists have awesome, funky colors in their hair as well. The stylists are making magic happen at this place. Mika did an amazing job on my hair! I came in with a year old balayage that she didn't just update, but completely improved! We went shades lighter than what I had done before, to ensure that everything was blended perfectly she used two different lighteners for the different colors of my hair and her blending technique was amazing to watch and to see the final outcome. Then, not only is the color amazing, the cut she gave me is fantastic! I opted for a big change for me with straight across bangs and she positioned them perfectly at brow level with some swoop so they really define my face! They opened at 9 am today. I have been calling for hours...left 1 voicemail and sent 1 email....nobody picked up the phone for 4 hours. Finally got through to a person at 1pm...and she put me on hold and just left me there for 5 minutes. When I called back, she was unapologetic and said "Is this for a Groupon? DO NOT GET EYELASH EXTENSIONS HERE!!! I purchased a Groupon for extensions, worst decision ever. I knew the price was too good to be true. The technician did not do the procedure properly and glued the lashes ONTO MY EYELID and not the lashes. This was my first time getting lashes so I didn't know any better. The whole time he was putting them on, it was stinging and burning and he said yes when I asked if that was normal. My eyelids felt super heavy and stuff after. Luckily my nail lady also does lashes and said something about how bad they looked, so she removed them for me. SO PAINFUL. It would have been worth it for me to just pay good money for a good set of extensions put on properly. read more

I went to Mane Trendz on a Groupon for highlights and a cut. I have short hair and it's been a long time since I've had highlights. It's very close to my house in Manchaca and I really want to stop driving downtown for hair. My stylist Maddie did an ok job, but even after telling her several times that I do not ever use a round brush to style my hair, she used a round brush to style my hair. It did not look good at all and no one would think it did. It's just too short for that. I went home and washed and restyled it with my fingers and diffuser, and it looks fine. I felt she was either new to hair or just not confident. As it was a groupon and a good price, I'm ok with the results. Few things for Mane Trendz to consider: -lower the mirrors one foot at least. The shelf on the mirror hits a client across the middle of the face, it is impossible to see your entire neck and face without a shelf running through the middle of it. I'm getting my hair cut and want to see my whole face and neck without a horizontal shelf through the middle of it. The mirrors are tall and there is no reason for that. -thank you for the wine, it's a nice touch and I enjoyed it. Consider serving in a small cup rather than a tall plastic 24 oz iced tea cup. -the other stylists were making fun of women's hair that they see in HEB. I felt it unprofessional for them to laugh and make fun of women's hair with a client sitting right there. read more

I purchased a Groupon voucher for my wife to get a manicure and pedicure (as a gift), and this is a review of her experience. It took me a lot persuasion to convince my wife to allow me to post a review, partly because we're not picky people, partly because she's so nice, partly because my wife said the lady at the salon was really nice, but I insisted because she got what I consider to be a less-than-ideal experience. Good: -No problems using the Groupon voucher. -Price was reasonable. -Very friendly, personable. -Small business, so more of a personal feel. Not so good: -It took a while to schedule an appointment. My wife and I both called a number of times over a week-long period, and although we did hear back eventually, it did leave us wondering for a while. Apparently the person we were trying to contact had been ill during that time, which we know is out of their control, but it was part of the experience so I included it here as part of the review. -Had to walk barefoot during and after she had her pedicure. They ran out of paper flip-flops, so my wife had to walk barefoot from the foot bath to the table where they did her fingernails. She also had to walk barefoot to a sink where she had to scrub her own cuticles. It's fine if they don't have paper flip flops, but she was surprised that she didn't get advance notice beforehand to bring her own (she came straight from a business meeting, so she wouldn't have been wearing flip flops). Then at the end she had to walk to her car barefoot, so when she came home, she had to wash her feet, which was not something she expected to have to do after getting a manicure and pedicure. -Her shellac manicure chipped after two days. Shellac is supposed to last longer than a normal polish. She got hers done on Friday afternoon and we've been at home literally the whole weekend. She hasn't done any housework, I haven't let her touch the dishes, clean, etc, and yet the chipping still occurred. read more

I have been going to Georgina for two years now and she is the only person I trust with my hair. The one time I attempted to go to someone else due to my scheduling never matching her availability, my hair became a disaster. As usual Georgina knew just how to fix it! I decided to call to verify and rebook the appointment for the same time. My hair stylist was Lisa Marie and was so informative about every hair situation. She cut a wig for me and explained how the wig needs to be cut and how to color the wig( in detail). Feel so abused by Mane Trendz when they failed to warn me about their no show policy over nail services. How did I think this would happen when they take walk-ins. This is not a Dr's appointment....Turns out..they used all my groupon without me stepping foot in their door. Great disappointment how a salon can do this to their customers. Was pissed off as soon as I walked in & was told there were going to be extra charges no one explained in the Groupon NOR over the phone when I scheduled the appointment. What's even worse is if you don't want to pay the extra charges and want to come another time they charge a rescheduling fee which is BS! So I had to pay extra & they even had the nerve to ask if I wanted to add a tip, hell no! Also it was a crappy manicure, next time I'll stay home and save my money plus the owner of the joint was the one that has no customer service skills and doesn't care about her potential new customers & blames me for not asking questions about extra charges over the phone, who the F would? read more

I want to give Madeline a shout out for being so awesome at my hair appointment yesterday. I purchased a groupon and she made me feel as if I paid full price. She was attentive and meticulous in her work and she understood exactly what I wanted. I only feel a lil' bad because I think she would've been happiest if I had gotten a hot pink or bright purple color instead of a "sun kissed" brown to my dark hair color. I found Mane Trendz on Yelp. I searched for hair salons near me the night before I was attending a wedding. Mane Trendz was one of three salons I considered. I opted for MT because I was able to book an appointment online very easily for the next morning. The other two places didn't have availability and their prices were to high for what I was looking to spend. MT gave me a reasonable price. Further, I was on time to my appointment and Lisa, the hair stylist I chose, was available on time too. She was very friendly and did a great job on my updo. I am always looking for good nail salons where the service is good, the prices are reasonable, the nail polish is good quality and I feel like it was actually relaxing. I bought a groupon for Mane Trendz for a mani / pedi and I can say I have found my spot now. It was a great service - Georgina the owner was so nice and did a great job of both mani and pedi. Lovely way to spend a Saturday morning. I was greeted by Georgina, the owner, the moment I walked into Mane Trendz and was offered something to drink. Everyone was with a client, talking and laughing. The atmosphere was one of friends treating friends. I was there for the "Basic" mani-pedi, but it felt like a spa treatment as soon as the heating pad was placed around my neck. The whole experience was so relaxing that I can't wait for my next visit. I came for a basic mani-pedi on Saturday July 23rd 2016 at Mane trendz. I started from my place around 10:30a.m and reached around 1:30p.m...3 hours for a simple mani-pedi...seriously. .... I had to wait for 20 minutes and then they started working on me, no massage chairs which is annoying, also they started late when there was no crowd at all...I wonder if it's crowded how long one needs to wait....it was disappointing. .....the service was ok....the person working on me did good job but took like almost 2 and half hours to complete it.....such a waste of time....I don't think I will come back again.....and would not recommend about this place to anyone esp. When I told Maddie that it would be the first time adding any coloring to my hair she was very understanding and attentive. She even added additional coloring to make my highlights pop even more.
