I found Megan Finley from offbeatbride.com a while back and decided to hire here because she…read moreanswered her interview questions with sincerity and and no bullsh*t sales tactics. What made me decide to hire her over others, her price was UNBEATABLE. I'll be honest I had the notion that I pay for what I get for (less than $1000 for Megan and her assistant, Coco, for 8 hours and a flash drive with all the picutres--that's RAD) and didn't have sooper dooper high expectations but she did such as excellent job with the wedding photography! Since then Megan has bumped up her price but she NEEDED TO! Megan came out to the wedding site several months in advance to get a scope of how she can get the best shots (taking into account of lighting conditions, sun setting, etc.). Later she gave me some pretty good advise on what would look great for photo ops which helped James and I in the planning portion. She answered any of my pre-wedding anxiety photo related (and even non-photo) questions quickly through e-mail. Megan was an Offbeat Bride like me so her and I were definitely on the same level. What I really loved is that Megan didn't force James and I to smile and pose in a certain way. She took really great random shots that truly captured the moment. Plus on the wedding day I told Meg that our ceremony was going to be about 15 minutes. Ya....it was more like 5. Poor Meg was probably SCRAMBLING to take photos but the photos turned out really GOOD! During the post-ceremony photo shoot James and I planned to have our photos done below a pier near Cabrillo Beach. To bad we had no idea it was a private beach. D'oh! So there we were, walking 1/2 mile to Cabrillo Beach but we had fun with it--it made for a sorta funny story later on AND the photos that she took of us were SOOPER SEXY/AWESOME. Girl had to work for the shots but in the end she (and Coco!) really shined through. Plus Meg was very supportive about our quirky pi-day wedding choices! In fact, she encouraged it! :) While the turn around time did take longer than I expected Megan did provide teaser photos along the way as well as personal follow-ups with her process. By the way we had several blooper shots that were HYSTERICAL! I love them! She and Coco shot in the realms of 800 photos over the span of 8 hours. Jeebus Christ that's like, 100 photos/hour, more than 1 photo per minute. So, I have to preempt this review, by saying that 1) I am generally particular when it comes to…read moremost things and 2) I am extremely camera shy. Not an easy combination, but that being said, Lily is AMAZING: she is super talented, open, creative and very easy to work with (and has amazing style to boot!) We signed up for a maternity family shoot after reading her yelp reviews. That being said, you still never know how things will turn out, but Lily arrived early on the day of our shoot, scouted the location and had great ideas for various settings to shoot. She was also very open to what I was looking for - minimalist, natural, lifestyle photography - which I feel is her strong suit. Lily immediately put us at ease with her easy going attitude (which lent itself to great photos!) and she was exceptional at working with our 4 year old. About 9 quick days after our shoot, we received our proofs, and we were *so* thrilled. Honestly, having a 4 year old (who can't sit still), I thought would have its own challenges in capturing decent photos. Not the case - Lily eloquently captured our family's spirit and we couldn't be more grateful to have photos of this fleeting moment in time. If you want a professional who is easy to work with, has no ego, and who will deliver the best results - definitely call Lily.
