FPO and I went there for a music event - Wasabi, Hawaii's premier oldies cover band was playing. We went a little early to park - the lot is a little too small for the number of people who can fit in the building. There is some street parking. At night there is a security guard, but he spent his time watching videos on his phone. Didn't even notice that someone parked in the blocked off space next to the handicap stall. There was a buffet that we didn't try. Another reason we went early was so we could go to the Zippy's around the corner for dinner. My cousin did try the buffet. Her burger looked pretty good. FPO got bottled Guinness at the bar. The cost was different. I don't know about that. Downside to the evening was that the Women's bathroom was broken. Even before it broke, there was a sign in the stalls, "we just learned we have a problem with low water pressure. Please wait 10 seconds if you hear someone else flush". Last night was my brother's celebration of life here at Mango Street Grill. Daryl & Allie were so amazing in helping to plan and assist with the entire event. From designing the seating arrangements for maximum guests with handicap access, linens, to a budget friendly menu that would accommodate a large gathering. Everything went so well and they were right there all the way to the end. The bentos we opted for was very tasty and had nice compliments from guests along with the open bar and standard drinks (coffee, water, juice). Dinner was such a pleasant experience. Who ever thought the old Dot's could be made elegant? Poke tostada made with wonton chips was super ono! My niece's Baked Herb Chicken with gravy was amazing! Waiter's need more experience & training, i.e; He forgot what we ordered .. Need more kitchen staff (Chef's, platers, etc). Except for the entertainment. This place is where the ballroom was when Dots was open. Not much people were in there that night so it was pretty quiet. They had live music from a one man band, similar to what Dots would offer on Sundays a long time ago. I'm unsure when and how often they have music. As for the food it tasted good. I had the beer battered fish, my son had the burger and fries, and my wife ate the garlic steak plate. The prices and portions were decent and we'll be back for Mother's Day dinner. I just hope that they can handle the crowd should it get busy. read more

Just so happened to find Mango Street Grill on my google search for something to eat in Wahiawa town. Walked into what I thought was a banquet hall with a small party and half expected to be turned away for the night, but instead we found ourselves catching some great live Jazz an hour before closing on a slow Thursday night. I can truly say the Shrimp add on was impressive along with the house salad dressing with my deep fried fish. I will be back to try some of the other items on the menu and hope to catch a Sunday with some prime rib and the all star Jazz lineup (great local talent) the owners were talking about when other events are not booked into the slot. You can hope for a lot in life, but to walk into a place just looking for some decent food and then you end up with some Good Food and Great Live Jazz playing when you least expected, it sure does make for a great night out. read more

People are very kind and service usually is within reason. Sometimes when they are crowded the meal takes longer than half hr. but you get a salad or soup to hold you over if you order it. Nice music and great for dancing with or without a partner. read more

Musician Steve Lucas allowed us to participate as part of the entertainment (singing & dancing hula), so much fun! ....and thank you Darryl (Manager) for allowing us the freedom to do so. First experienced Mango Street Grill for a concert featuring Makaha Sons. Great concert and cozy venue. Surprised by how ono the food was so came back a couple of weeks later to try the restaurant menu. You will not be disappointed! Great food and desserts! Friendly attentive staff. Plus the added bonus of live music to enjoy your meal by. We've been a couple more times since and will be back for another concert on the 29th. ***This review is mainly toward the venue/event rental of their "Plantation Ballroom".*** Last week, I had my daughter's first birthday here and I worked closely with Allison/Allie who helped us coordinate this whole event. Leading up to the event, communication went well and she seemed very nice/easy to work with. But as we got closer and close to event day, things just rubbed me the wrong way. 1. She was very adamant that the AC would not be turned on until 15-20 before event start time which was 530. Mind you, setup started at 4pm. Her reason was due to cost and trying to save money on electricity. 2. Paying for the event MUST be paid via check/cashiers check or CASH. Because I don't currently live in Hawaii anymore and was trying to coordinate this event in another state, the easiest and fastest way to pay for everything was through credit card. This made things way more stressful and complicated than it needed to be. 3. We were having a few people come in before setup time to put together a balloon arch. But Allie's main concern was if they were going to have the balloons pre blown because if they were going to blow the balloons at the facility, she was worried about them using up "electricity". 4. During the event, we had ONE rubbish can, let me repeat.... ONE RUBBISH CAN for the entire night (4 hrs). I was told that when asked if they could bring out another one, Allie made it seem like it was such a hassle. Because we had brought in outside food like pupus and dessert (which, every local party does), the trash accumulated very quickly. The fact that asking for another trash made it seem like such a big deal made me even more upset and also my family was not happy at the end of the night. **Everyone and me included felt that we could never ask her anything because she always gave this sort of attitude/look like we were such a burden to her. 5. Just a reminder, if you do decide to bring in your food, please don't forget to bring in your own plates/forks/etc. and also taking home your OWN trash at the end of the night! My one star is only given to the chef and other staff. The food was amazing, so ono and very very tasty. And the other staff was really nice. All in all, I would NEVER EVER EVER have my event here again, and would never recommend this place to someone else unless the coordinator is a different person. Allison made it seem like they were so cheap and cutting down on cost despite me paying about 7 GRAND for this entire party. SHE was not accommodating and party planning was even more stressful because of her! Pleaseeeeee. There are other better venues out there. Plan plan plan ahead of time, which I wish I would have done because then I wouldn't have been stuck renting this place. But at the end of the day, I am really glad my family enjoyed the party and everyone had a good time. read more

Interesting atmosphere like a cool jazz bar setting, great super friendly and attentive staff. As far as the food goes the chicken dishes are extremely tough like you need to firmly grip your fork and knife in your fists to even attempt to cut it up. Everything else is awesome, the fries are really good as well. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is because I've eaten at almost every restaurant in wahiawa and this is without question the only place with a chef/kitchen that knows how to properly cook/grill a steak, if you order a "medium rare" you're going to get a medium rare, they're also extremely liberal with sautéed onions so that's another positive as well. read more

I just went to Mango Street Grill last night since it's been renovated. The banquet room was better. The floor for dancing was better and with the way the tables were set up, there was a lot of room for dancing although they limited the capacity to 150. They got new AC's which was nice. I would not eat there again though. I ordered the beef stew plate at $11. My husband had the fried calamari for $9.50. For the beef stew plate, there were about three pieces of meat, three pieces of potatoes and no carrots. Had a lot of rice and gravy. The calamari was in small bits. I wish I'd taken pictures of the food. It could have been pupus but sure didn't serve as a meal. The food had no taste. We would go there again as we enjoyed the entertainment but we'll eat before we go. read more

We just had our 50th anniversary. We have decided to hold the party at Mango Street Grill . Ally and staff made sure our milestone event was a memorable one. We just heard about the Mango Street Grill last weekend and decided to give it a try on Wednesday. Wow, this restaurant is a really great find! The food was tremendous - basically a 5-star meal for a Zippy's price. My wife had their Chicken Piccata and I had their NY steak. Both were grilled to mouthwatering perfection. I also had their calamari appetizer, which was great. We both ordered the complete meal for an extra $6 - fresh garden salad for my wife, delicious chicken vegetable soup for me, and we both decided on an amazing vanilla cheesecake for dessert. The service was fantastic and there was even live music. We will be back for sure! read more

Negative review but 5 star bc I want to see them succeed and improve. Wanted to pay for party with credit card but was told it would ruin her book keeping bc of the processing fee? So she mentioned for us to cover the fee and we said okay I mean we already spending over 6-7k so what the heck. Then she backed out and and ask if we can actually pay cash. We refused bc we didn't feel comfortable carrying that much in cash bc we moved off the island and was coordinating from main land. Then was told if we can actually pay 2k credit card and the rest in cash or cashiers check? We wanted to pay credit card full bc we wanted that Hawaiian miles you know da kine I mean why wouldn't a business accept full credit card payment? That's instant approval of full amount to their bank accounts? Funny part was after paying the check she mention about the delay bc bank was out of state? Like sistah that's why we said credit card brah. Aisus. at that point I'm like what's going on here? Started to Feel a little sketched. But bc it was the only venue available we went for it. Party was great everyone had fun but I felt like I couldn't bother Allie as she had this look and tone that wasn't very approachable but me I no care I ask any ways lol Other thing I wasn't use to was loading the truck up with all the garbage to take back to the house to throw away. I'd think 7k they'd have a dumpster out back or something to throw away all our pupu and desert trash, but instead had to take it back to my aunties and grandmas trash cans at their homes. Not traditional but I guess times is hard. She kept telling us they want to keep electricity cost low which is fine but should be kept within business owner talk rather than telling your clients that.
