I had signed up with a few friends but they ended up having conflicts so I went alone. I had only had a surf lesson once before, years ago, in Puerto Rico. Honestly, I am insanely intimidated by the ocean. But I had made a commitment to myself to just show up and I'm so glad...I will be forever grateful for Dustin's instruction and the amazing "first" lesson in St. Augustine. The beach location was beautiful and the instructor showed up on time with good equipment. e spent more time practicing on the sand than actually surfing, and once in the water, the instructor gave minimal feedback before leaving us mostly on our own. The "guaranteed to stand up" promise in their email turned out to be more of a marketing line than reality, and the session ended awkwardly with a long wait for the boards to be collected and no clear wrap-up. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but for the price and reputation, I expected a more organized and engaging lesson.
