Nice tackle selection but operations suck. Palm Valley Outdoors )PVO) is the worse Bait Shop in JAX area, in my view. Early morning staff is often late, their hours differ on weekdays but No sign posting hours, They do not post a sign when they are out of bait. Also the Bait quality typically suck. Shrimp Quickly dies off. They need a better system to refresh water & keep it cool. The other day I waited 45 minutes for them to open only to find out they were out of Bait ! I avoid them whenever I can Until they straighten out operational mgmt. read more

From walking up with the environment of the intercoastal waterway through the great doors to the front bar, we had drinks for her birthday that were amazing service we had appetizers of oysters. Rockefeller top-notch, not overcooked so flavorful, and the oysters that were raw from Virginia with a great flavor very fresh! Following walking to the outdoors to sit on the patio to have dinner for Linda's birthday I ordered all you can eat Snow crab legs which were lying and I only had two orders. I'm sure others can eat more. They were delicious. I also had their fresh macaroni and cheese with a side of collard greens that were just touch so much good flavor in each one Linda Got the shrimp linguine perfectly cooked shrimp from local seafood and linguine with the sauce is perfect. The service was fabulous. The environment is perfect and there was a slight breeze that made it wonderful . They are all amazing hosts and it's always good to see my ponte Vedra outdoors family thank you guys for always being there and always putting out fresh delicious food in an amazing environment and the music was fabulous. The ladies voice was so nice and soothing, and the other gentleman just joined when he felt like it. It was really nice. Thanks again guys. Today was my second visit to Palm Valley Outdoors. It was a sunny Saturday which made it a perfect day for lunch on the water. PVO offers much outdoor seating with a lovely view of the Intercoastal Waterway. We ordered several appetizers and shared them. I also ordered a cup of the lobster bisque which was one of the daily specials. The lobster bisque was creamy and included nice chunks of lobster. Next I tried the oysters rockefeller. Wow, were they good! So much flavor in each bite. My next favorite menu item was the sauteed garlic shrimp. Shrimp is not my favorite seafood however when prepared the PVO way......superd! We also dipped the pita bread in the shrimp sauce (don't let it go to waste). Lastly, I had a few bites of the crab cake. I'm picky about crab being that I have 20 years experience eating them in Baltimore. But they did it right! Not much filler, mostly crab! I also enjoyed the slaw served with the crab cake. I tried the fries and plantain sides. The fries looked hand cut and were yummy. The plantains were sweet and prepared perfectly! Our server, although pretty busy, kept a close eye on our table. She was friendly and knowledgable. I'm already looking forward to my next trip. If you are a seafood lover add PVO to your must try list! Awful experience. Had read that they were under new management and was a great time with great food. Made reservations for a birthday dinner for 4/11 inside. Called the night before to confirm & told them about the celebration & was told they'd be ready for us. Arrived on time, and they tried to seat us outside first. Then confusion as they scrambled to get us a table and was told "we weren't aware". Didn't get anyone to stop by the table for 35 minutes to take drink orders. When they finally brought the drinks, we were missing two of them and nearly an hour had gone by. Still no appetizer orders or dinner orders had been taken. Ended up paying the drink bill and leaving as there was no manager on the floor, and the server (Chris) indicated he wasn't sure when he'd get to us. Would not recommend and will not be back. Went for lunch with my wife, granddaughter and granddaughters friend. We went by boat. It was a Friday and they had a boat hand working the dock to assist. Plenty of dock space. It's also located in a "no wake" zone so you don't have to worry about being banged around. The food and the service was great. The garlic shrimp is amazing. In addition, they had .99 cent oysters and Snow Crab Legs at $11.99 per pound, a really good price. The Owner stopped by our table to check on us and let us know that they are coming out with new menu items, and cheaper prices (Tuesday through Friday). We will be back! read more

We went to PVO after not going for about 6 months hoping that the food was going to change and be much better. We used to frequent there almost every 2 weeks. Beautiful setting. The music was good. so we had just gone a couple of weeks ago. There was a group of 8 of us. It was on a Sunday night about 3pm. we thought we would get in before the dinner rush. ordered a cup of the soup- it was cold and salty and they didn't even have it made. I had also ordered a steak- which was very good and tasty, done just right. one other person in our group also ordered the steak but hers was under done. She sent it back to the kitchen to just have it done a touch more, it was 20 minutes later before it came out. Crab legs were a special they were having. They told us they were out of them, so 2 of our group had to order something different. This is a seafood restaurant. We were told the shipment didn't come in. Other patrons before and after we had ordered were getting crab legs. We didn't understand this. The drinks we ordered came out after about 20 minutes but they good. Two others in our group had gotten the chicken sandwich, which was excellent. The chicken pieces were so big and juicy. They said they were excellent. The manager covered our check but I won't go back to eat again. If I go back it will just be for drinks. I was very disappointed. The pictures they posted online looked so good, but the food tastednot nearly as good. Huge letdown. read more

I don't care how many bartenders you got! When you are seated at the bar, you better get a better attitude, smile and face on. Food was overpriced and mediocre and that was the Oyster Rockefeller. But the service of one bartender stood out and she knows who she is, as we all stiffed her. And last but most importantly, don't take pleasure in your attitude when asked about a military discount! And NO is a very cold response with as if you were asked for free food. Atmosphere was great and you can use COVID all you want for whatever excuse. You had plenty of wait staff. read more

The location is really nice. There was a musician playing music on Friday night which was also nice. But the food was not very good unfortunately. We should have just stuck to the appetizer menu. The hummus plate and pork rinds were probably the best items on the menu. We were a party of 14. 3 couples with all of our kids. I don't think we will be returning for dinner. read more

The waitress was nice, but they are clearly very understaffed and overworked. I was sitting sucking ice for about 20 minutes before getting a refill and my food came out burnt/discolored. It was fried fish so I'm not sure how it could have been burnt but it was brown/black in areas and tasted awful maybe the grease/oil was old and needed to be changed. Other than the fish my food was good, but not great. I paid 30$ for the seafood platter which was loaded to the brim with clams and had only 4 shrimp and that nasty fish. They knocked off 8$ for the fish and sent me on my way. Also if you come here in the evening on a hot day the inside will likely be packed and the acoustics are terrible, It gave me a headache from the unrelenting loud noise. I still tipped well because I understand not all of that is the waitresses fault. But I have been here multiple times before and the service has steadily going downhill. My family comes here on a pretty regular basis, and each time we are really blown away by the quality of food and ambiance. The kids play on the dock or run around the lawn area while my wife and I have a bevvie while looking at the fantastic view and listening to live music. There has never been an occasion that I've been less than impressed with the food. Last night I decided to get the salmon for the first time and holy moly it was FANTASTIC! Our waitress, Taylor, recommended it and I'm very glad she did; she was also a fantastic waitress. It gets crowded on the weekends because a place like that should, so plan accordingly and it will be well worth it! Be sure to rent some kayaks or SUPs too! Despite the plugs, I don't work here, nor do I know anyone who does... it's just REALLY good all around! read more

We rented 2 kayaks for the day here and were very pleased with the kayaks, the fantastic staff, and the value for the money. I think it was something like $35 for the whole day, but we also rented a cooler with ice to go with us (thank God we did). Nice, new, clean equipment, and they were very helpful in getting us set up and in the water. We paddled almost down to Vidro Beach, down the Tolomato, explored the Guana preserve some, and then, when the tide shifted, paddled back. Long day, hot, tired arms, cold water (cooler!) helped. Careful going into the inlets as the tide goes out or you can get stuck back there until the tide returns, but the Tolomato is always open. We saw lots of jumping fish, and I swear we both saw a sea turtle (though it is sometimes hard to tell as it crests and goes under; it was something big). We saw a manatee right at the end. The beauty and solitude in parts is spectacular, and worth the whole trip, and why kayaks are a great choice. If you want a great value a little farther away from the very busy and congested St. Augustine places, and get a closer look at the wide open natural beauty of Florida, this is for you; it's right under the bridge, easy parking; can't miss it. If you want to fish, they have full angler kayaks as well. They are gearing up to put in a restaurant right on the river. They are open very early, which is ideal for hot days. You don't need anything except bugspray and SUNSCREEN (get the best and bathe in it); Palm Valley Outdoors has both, and everything else you need, just show up, work off all the food and drinks from the night before. read more

Happily surprised about how awesome this tackle shop was. I originally walked in just to look around and ended up spending close to $50 on squid, bucktails and other lures I would bite if I was a fish. The guy working there (I don't know his name but he caught a sailfish a month ago) couldn't have been nicer to my kids. He even took the boys to a separate building to see the live bait. The bull minnows were very large and lively. They also carry live shrimp. Will definitely buy bull minnows here next to we go flounder fishing. Quality selection of lures and gulp products. Their seafood is delivered daily so that it is always fresh, the dishes are gourmet quality, the staff is friendly, they have an impressive whiskey selection, and there is live music right on the waterfront every weekend. Big fun! We had a really terrific time kayaking the Intercostal on Memorial Day weekend. We rented two tandem kayaks at PVO for our family of four and appreciated the helpful staff (great advice to head north first). Most of PVO's equipment looked new and it couldn't be easier to launch on site. We had a great lunch at the PVO Bar & Grill when we returned. read more

I wanted to like this place. The location is great and it has a lot of potential. I've tried it a few times with mixed feelings, but today's visit for lunch will be my last. I ordered a tuna poke' and was told they were out of that dish although tuna was a featured special that day and it was 11:15 AM just after opening. So I ordered the arugula and goat cheese salad. I was told they were out of arugula and agreed to substitute romaine. They did NOT tell me they were also out of candied walnuts and (apparently) dried cranberries which were listed on the menu as part of that salad. I just got a small serving of romaine with some red onions, cherry tomatoes, and a sprinkle of goat cheese. When I asked about the walnuts, they confirmed they were out of the nuts and agreed they should have told me this before serving it, but they still charged me the full $14 for this pathetic salad. read more

Had early dinner and drinks. Started outside on the deck but the flies ran us inside. Outside deck is great for drinks only. Staff was great and moved us inside quickly. We were at Davis Park off Palm Valley Road to watch and enjoy a socker game in whitch our Grand Daughter was playing. The weather was beautiful with just a few clouds in the sky and cool refreshing breezes. Upon leaving the game we were informed that Ice Cream would be nice. Not being familiar with the area the firsts restaurant was the one we pulled into. According to sign the business was called Palm Valley Outdoors. Located just east of Davis park on the Intercoastal Waterway right beside the Palm Valley Bridige. A beautiful resturant. After looking at the menu, getting our soft drinks l decided to brouse. They had,what looked to me like an open kitchen, a nice tackle shop, kayak rentals outside games,then a nice tackle shop. The foods we ordered were perfect. I'm 63 have not been in this area since my late thirties, I liked what I saw and will return soon. The owner has hit a winning home run! Accolades! read more
