I didn't have a problem with the Doctors at this practice. Dr. Funnell was my dad's doctor for a very long time, and he spoke highly of him. My problem is with some of the staff. I went in for an eye check up and a week later, had a scheduled appointment for contacts. I am a cash patient, so imagine my surprise when, at the end of the visit, I was given a bill for over $500! What happened was that they charged me for another medical eye exam, even though I had one a week before. I did receive a refund, but only after being treated very badly, and it was given very grudgingly. There are a lot of other physicians that are just as good as this group, and don't nearly charge the significant fees this practice charges. I decided to give them another try a year later (now that I knew their fees), and tried to schedule online. I made appointment, was called and said it wasn't available (even though it was online), and then rescheduled to this new date. I called a day before to confirm, and they didn't have the appointment scheduled. Sigh. Made an appointment with Dr. Russell Hosaka in Torrance, and beside the fact that he and his staff are great, they rates are much more reasonable. read more

I advise all not to come to this office. the staff is unprofessional, arrogant, has a bad attitude and will not give you the time of day - that is if you look and talk like you do not have money. If you are a commoner, i suggest to look for another office with better staff service. As we all know, the staff is the "face" of the office. This office has a bad "face." When i went to this office to ask a simple question about vision check up, they said "no" right away without letting me finish my sentence or even listening to my explanation. They apparently book back to back appointments every 20 min. Was running 10-15 min late due to traffic. The office called and I told them I was almost there and they said over the phone thats fine we will swap you with another patient. Arrived before they told me what the cutoff was and the front desk proceeded to take me in and process my paperwork. They then started to be really rude claiming I was late and they couldn't see me. So basically wasted my time and never was seen. They should've re-scheduled me over the phone instead of changing their mind once I got there. Apparently a large disconnect and rude staff. Go elsewhere that isn't a cash cow churning out patients every 20 minutes. There should be enough time to allow for schedule ailements out of ones control and to ask questions and be personable with the doctor. Avoid this chop shop and go to a real office so you can be well taken care of. read more

I love coming here! The whole visit is a pleasant experience. The staff are extremely patient and polite. Everything runs smoothly and on time. They really have the whole process down to a Tee. Dr. Choi has a wonderful bedside manner and makes you feel really comfortable. When I was hesitant about opting to pay for viewing the images of my retina, he was very reasonable; explained why they would be useful for my circumstances, but also agreed that viewing them every 2 years would be adequate. I used to go to one of those generic, "chain store" opticians due to insurance coverage (or lack thereof) but now that I have a solid vision plan at work I am so thrilled that I can see Dr. Okada. Not only are they extremely professional and knowledgeable, but their customer service is top-notch. The office space is warm and comfortable, though I've never actually waited very long to see the doctor, so my time in the waiting room is limited. Ok so Doctors and Paul get 5 stars, they were professional and nice. Some of the ladies helping you pick glasses and make your order get 2 stars. Paul is extremely nice and cares, I was there on a Thursday when they open until 6pm and no one helped me... this blonde lady came up to me just to say: we are closing in 15 minutes. Oh she did said: if you can't decide we get more inventory on a weekly basis so you can come back and pick. Yeah like i want to leave work early again and have to come back. I just wanted to get it all done that day but the ladies were not helpful, you could tell they just wanted to get out of there asap, right at 5.30pm I saw them all get ready to leave even though they close at 6pm. Paul saw me undecided and helped me picked between 3 frames, he gave me advice on what would look better for my face shape, then he sat down with me and explained everything about my insurance and options, what was extra, what was covered, etc. HE IS EXTREMELY NICE AND HELPFUL, even though it was pass 6pm he took care of me. read more

We've been going to Dale Choi for a couple years now. My daughter and I love him. He's clear, concise, funny, and gets to know you on a personal level. The facility is very clean and they have a large selection of glasses on display. If you need an eye doctor, I see no reason to go anywhere else. read more

I am not a client. In fact, I had never been in the office until a few days ago. I accidentally sat on my sunglasses and twisted them out of shape. I was looking for an office that could perhaps fix them. I went in there and was greeted so nicely. I told them what had happened and they took me right away to a technician who fixed the sunglasses. I asked how much I owed them and she said nothing. Then she gave me a cleaning cloth for the sunglasses! I have had Lasik so I have no need for their services. Wow I really lucked out! My insurance changed and I looked up an office close to my home. Yelpers endorsed this place but I really has no idea how great an eye exam could be! They have a free untimed unmetered covered parking lot. The receptionist was friendly and efficient (I was seen within 5 minutes of my appointment time). The eye tests were painless (and I'm a wimp!). No more puff of air or crusted over eyes dilated so much you can't drive for the day. The front office staff are always friendly, and courteous, not to mention helpful with insurance questions. The technicians who perform the tests are great; they are patient and give good explanations of the test being performed. I purchased a pair of glasses at MBVG as well, the optician gave me good advice as to the pairing of frames to face; she too was very professional.
