Have been going there for a few years. They have a spacious office area with many separate rooms for different tests. The staff seems to be always ready to help and get the best possible outcome. One of the staff, Nicole, came out to guide me to the room in back that contained many different machines. She explained what each one did if I asked and was very knowledgable about each one. She was also swift and got me done before I expected. Almost as soon as I sat in one of the waiting rooms, Dr Okada came over to lead me to his office for more examinations. If I could give Manhattan Beach Vision Group more than 5 stars I would. I've been going to this group for years and they are the best. Dr. Funnell & Dr. Okada are terrific. Dr. Funnell is kind, gentle and reassuring. I went to a doctor in South Pasadena who scared the you know what out of me so I made the trek from Pasadena to Manhattan Beach to see Dr. Funnell. I explained to him what the other doctor had seen and wanted me to do. He took a look and told me to relax, what he was seeing was a freckle/birthmark and there was no reason to worry. Dr. Okada is very engaging. You will feel like you're chatting with a longtime BF. The reception team is always polite and attentive and your paperwork will always be in order. Wendy, Rory & Paul on the Eyecare Team are beyond terrific. Very helpful selecting frames and they'll always help you get the most from your insurance plan. Even if you're not going to purchase your glasses from them, they will make sure you understand your insurance benefits. When I go in I usually take several pairs of glasses that need adjusting (a lot not purchased from them) and they always make the adjustments and clean the glasses for me. I've gone in with glasses that I didn't purchase from them and they volunteer to swap out the nose pads for softer more comfortable ones at no charge. They provide a roomy unattended parking lot and there's plenty of un-metered street parking too. I've only had experience with Dr. Funnell, Dr. Okada, Wendy, Rory & Paul but I have no reservations saying that no matter who you work with at this group you will be very well taken care of and very happy with your experience. The one sad thing is because of Covid they've done away with their candy bowl! I miss the mini candy bars. read more

I've been going to Manhattan Vision for over 25 years (along with my entire family). All of the doctors and staff are excellent! All are friendly, courteous, highly knowledgeable and professional. The office is bright, clean and well decorated. The understand and clearly communicate what your insurance covers and does not cover....very helpful. I had been a patient of Dr. Okada and Dr. Choi for many years. I am always amazed by their superb customer service which outperforms other clinics. Recently I am even more amazed by unexpected free service I received (more than deserved). I got a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses (I bought somewhere else), both nose pads were broken. I was anxious to search options to get replacement since the shades are in good shape, Amazon, eBay... Then I read a previous review about repair work received here; so I decided to call in to try my luck. I was transferred to Liana's voice mail; I left a message with a wrong frame model number. The next day, Liana left me a message to follow up; I was too busy to call her back. I totally forgot it afterwards. In a day or two, I received a call from Liana telling me the nose pads she ordered for me are here. I stopped by; realizing the parts are incorrect because the model number I provided is not right. Liana took down the correct model number; then found a pair of similar nose pads for temporary use. I am happy already with the replacement; but not for Liana, who is in pursuit of excellence. In a few days, I had the correct nose pads replaced! Did I mention all the services are free?! I applaud the excellent service of Liana, who raised the bar so high!!! read more

Friendly staff and great communication. My appointment started right on time and I didn't have to wait long to see the doctor after the initial screening. Ample parking is a huge plus (coming from a Midwesterner that is used to parking lots everywhere). Large selection of frames for all styles. The best part of my experience was Paul Lang, the certified optician. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and patient when selecting frames and lenses. I picked this vision group partially because of the ratings they had on Yelp. I have now been here about 3 times with my daughter and myself. The wait time is huge for me, and they were pretty prompt on getting us in and seen. Outstanding service! I've lived in 11 different cities in the past 30 years and MBVG is by far the best optometry service I've been too during that time. Parking can be tight if you have an SUV but not impossible. The pre-exam was very thorough and the tech answered all my questions about the different tests & equipment. Dr. Aslam is fantastic! I would recommend this ophthalmologist office to everyone. I personally see Dr. Choi but from what I can tell, all the doctors are very pleasant. The office is very large and clean. The front desk and assistants are all friendly and accommodating. I waited less than 10 min to see the doctor. Dr. Choi is very easy to talk to and spends time with each patient, explaining the diagnosis and treatment in a clear manner. I recently got fitted for contact lenses... the assistant was so patient with me as i tried over and over to practice inserting and removing the lens. They also have a large selection of frames to choose from. I trust this office so much, I even made an appointment for my 6 year old daughter to get an examination here. Broke the glasses I got 1 1/2 years ago from Manhattan Beach Vision. Went in to get them replaced and they told me no charge! They provide a free 2 year warranty. Wow was I surprised and happy. The glasses were life changing glasses with the latest high tech features expertly fitted and crafted. The frames were Gucci frames. The lenses were Transitions which turn into sunglasses in bright light; Varilux which means the readers have no ugly line in the lenses; and had Crizal coating which makes the lenses last longer and coated to soften glare of computer screens. The glasses literally improved my quality of life that seamlessly allowed me to go from computer work to outside bright light without changing glasses. They were not cheap, but well worth the price. So I was disappointed when they broke. Liana serviced me and since the Gucci frames were not available I got a comparable Hugo Boss frame set. They provided the exact same lenses with all the extras and had my glasses to me in 3 days. Dr. Funnell is highly skilled. The Opticians such as Liana and Wendy can find the perfect frames for your face on the first set they select out of hundreds of frames (they both have done that for me). And they custom fit the frames and lenses to insure they are perfect. This is medical service at its highest level. I highly recommend Manhattan Beach Vision. read more

I have only been a patient of MBVG for a year but I have had the opportunity to be assisted by their wonderful staff and Doctors three times in the last twelve months. They take both vision and medical insurance which came in handy for me this week when my son accidentally poked me in the eye and scratched my cornea. I was not able to be see by my new Doctor (Jennifer Aslam - who is amazing), but they got me in right away with Dr. Jasmine Hamid. She was very warm, welcoming, professional, thorough, and quick. My follow-up was with Dr. Okada who is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I joked with the staff after seeing him asking if was always in such a good mood, they said yes. I highly recommend anyone looking for a new Eye Doctor to look no further. Two days ago (May 18) happened to be the first day Manhattan Vision re-opened for limited business in the coronavirus pandemic, and I happened to wake up that day with a corneal injury! Couldn't get through because everyone was in a staff meeting, so I went to urgent care, where I was misdiagnosed with a sty and told to do home and take ibuprofen. The pain became increasingly severe, but after they finished their staff meeting MV returned my call, so late in the afternoon my husband took me there. By that time it was hurting so bad I was crying (which made it hurt more!), disoriented, with a headache from trying to squint to keep from blinking. Dr. Tam saw me, examined my eye, diagnosed the injury ("recurrent corneal erosion"), and immediately slapped on a clear nonprescription soft lens to protect it - what a relief! My pain was instantly alleviated by 90%. She also prescribed a prophylactic antibiotic and explained the condition using a model. I didn't realize that ODs (Doctors of Optometry) are licensed to diagnose and treat all kinds of eye diseases and write prescriptions. The only thing they can't do is surgery. I told Dr. Tam if it hadn't been for the six-foot rule, I would have given her a big hug. She was professional, warm, kind, and really knows her stuff! Manhattan Vision has made some changes to align with CDC rules. You must wear a mask, and they take your temperature upon editing. And no more candy and coffee for the time being! But it's worth it to feel safe. read more

I found Manhattan vision through my insurance. The front staff is cordial. However, I really didn't appreciate the sales tactic and pressure into making me pay an additonal $39 for the eye image. My insurance covers an equivalent test but I wasn't even given that as an option.That is unacceptable and certainly unappreciated. It diminishes the positives about this group. read more
