She began just before her 2nd birthday with some verbal skills, and has completely blossomed while at the school. All the teachers and administrators are so friendly, welcoming and know each child by name (regardless of class they are in, everyone knows each other across the entire school) as well as most is the parents! The learning activities they put together are tied right into to key skills, and we have come home so impressed that at 4 our daughter already knows what "germination" is having learned about it in the Dragonflies class. Good food is provided for breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks, and you can drop off as early as 7:30am and pick up as late as 6:15 which is unheard of for most daycares. They know pretty much all the families are working and so try and make things as easy as possible to handle that working parent life. They also have a large backyard for outdoor play as well as rec room / gym with a rock climbing wall so the children get lots of exercise and fresh air. We could not have been happier with the education and care our daughter has received and we continue to sing Sunshine 3rd Ave's praises to everyone in the East Harlem community we meet. A Beautiful preschool walking distance to the Hudson River. With a masters degree In Elementary education and 15years of teaching Early Childhood Education - 2, 3 and 4 year olds, I looked forward to this new opportunity. Poorly maintained by owner of building and super. Poor relationship between owner of building and Joanna owner of this preschool - which by the way is now named metrokids. Don't let the new name and branding fool you!!! In 2019, , Unsafe front door entrance, elevator consistently not working, check legalities/ infants on second floor . Challenging to get children safely out of Building God forbid there was an emergency. Also No cleaning staff to come In at night or on weekends for deep cleaning. Perhaps now with children returning to daycare the owner properly addressed issues and children have a state of the art preschool to return to in a 21st century Chelsea location. I doubt it though. Parents were paying 2000 a month. So I'll recap unsafe and unsanitary. The Director and teachers are the parents sounding board but ultimately owners responsibility. Also teachers - the true reason daycares and preschools survive- three wonderful teachers and a wonderful assistant teacher during my tenure there. When I say wonderful I mean educated kind intelligent and well maintained class rooms. One thank goodness has been called back after schools started opening again. It was challenging to be able to give good teachers and assistants raises because often raises were based on making sure a teacher had the "right" degree or coursework to merit the cheap pay raises. Across the board cheap raise once a year. My review is not based on"sour grapes". It's for "pulling back the curtain" for unsuspecting parents.

Wow, we had such a great experience at Preschool of America! They helped us out of a very serious…read moresituation, where our son's daycare closed suddenly. They took us in and were so considerate of our situation while we figured out our long-term solution. On the administrative side, Stephanie is a wonderful and responsible director. On the academic side, the teachers and students welcomed our son with warmth and made him feel at home, helping him to make a quick adjustment to the new environment. There were so many things that we loved about POA that our previous daycare didn't do. They send daily photos of what the kids are up to through a secure mobile app, so you feel more connected. They provide daily report cards for every student, listing out activities, learning progress and behavior. They use a lot of music and physical interactivity to enhance the learning process. Their catered lunches were also high quality and diverse. When we were researching daycare options, I recall reading a few bad comments which caused me some concern, so I really wanted to address the inaccurate comments in my review of POA. First of all, the environment is very clean and brightly lit, with children's artwork all over the place. Each room has windows allowing natural sunlight to come in. Most of the classrooms and gym are on the outer edge of the building with direct sun. Two of the classrooms for the very young children/babies were on the interior, but with windows facing the outside windows and direct views outside. The children at that age are still crawling or too small to see out the windows anyway. This seems to be a common practice, and was how our previous daycare was designed as well. When our previous daycare shut down, we learned a lot about the economics of what it takes to run a daycare versus what you pay. We tried getting together with 3 or 4 other families to share the cost of a private teacher, and traded off using our apartments to house them. However, it became clear very quickly that it would not only be much more expensive than daycare, but the learning environment wasn't nearly as good. The typical daycare costs of around two thousand dollars per month originally seemed like a lot to us as new parents, but if you do the math of how long they are watching your child, it breaks down to around $7.50 per hour. That's less than minimum wage, and when you factor in the lunches, diapers, activity supplies, etc that are included, there is no way you could ever match that. After a month, our previous daycare re-opened and is was an EXTREMELY difficult decision to make about which one to choose long-term. Ultimately, our son missed his friends too much, and the location at our previous place was a half mile closer, so we ended up going back. However, we also would have been quite happy to stay at POE as his permanent daycare. So to sum it up, we highly recommend Preschool of America!

They enthusiastically greet us every morning and evening. They do a terrific job communicating with me and my husband throughout the day with updates on her activities and photos through the app. The teachers are great at giving us suggestions on things we can do at home to help our daughter's development. My daughter is super happy and smiley there. The teachers are so patient and truly care about her and it shows. I was at another day care prior which was awful. The Learning Experience Bushwick has been above and beyond our expectations! Also, the school is gorgeous with large, colorful, clean classrooms.

Man, sending your kid to be taken care of by strangers can be tough…read more I was fully prepared to hate every daycare we toured and subsequently convince my wife that I should quit my job and take care of our little girl full time, because no one was good enough to do the job.* But we loved Changing Tomorrow as soon as we walked inside. The location may not be ideal (for us or in general - it's located in a construction-clogged area of Downtown Brooklyn), but the facilities are excellent, and the people are wonderful. It is brand new, clean, and very well run. It's as if they took stock of the bougie parents in the neighborhood, and decided to create a daycare that offered everything they might want: Flexible schedules and long hours (open 7 am to 7 pm). Nurse on site at all times. Organic food catered for the kids (after they turn 1). Montessori methods that focus on the cognitive, social, and emotional development of your kid. Frequent activities like dance, soccer, finger-painting, and trips to the park when it's nice out. Best of all, they have monthly meetings where they take suggestions for what the parents would like to see from the school, and they actually try and implement those suggestions where it makes sense. (I wish those meetings weren't at 7 am, but I suppose getting up early is part of being a parent.) We're only a couple of weeks in at this point, but so far I have to say that the staff is just amazing. They put up with the minute and specific instructions we (and I imagine all parents) throw at them on a daily basis, and they are shockingly on top of the Brightwheel app that they use to keep us updated on our child throughout the day. Yesterday I got over a dozen photos and videos of my daughter, plus updates on her naps, feedings, diaper changes, and more. My kid still cries every time I drop her off, but it's really gratifying to see a smiling photo of her just a little bit later so I know she isn't crying all day. A huge thank you to Meridith the Education Director, Ms. Victoria, Ms. Janiece, Ms. Maria, and all the other wonderful people that work here. I'm constantly surprised that the teachers in the other age groups (that don't spend the day caring for her) recognize my daughter on sight when we walk in the door; it makes the place feel a lot more like a family. Thank you all for taking care of our daughter; I know it isn't easy, and we really appreciate how much you care. It makes it a little bit easier to leave her with you. ____________ *And also because I'm a progressive man that knows my wife can handle the breadwinning duties in this modern world. Amanda was so wonderful and found a place for us at very short notice. We weren't expecting much -- we were just happy to have found somewhere so quickly -- but our daughter flourished and thrived under their care. Amanda was extremely communicative and seemed to know everything about how our child was developing. She is so great with the children and just an extremely positive force to be around. We never worried for a second when our daughter was there. The teachers were wonderful at helping her adapt to her first daycare, and then helping her transition to the toddler class. We got regular updates and photographs throughout the day that regularly made us laugh. They came up with really great ideas for activities. They calmed us when we were worried and gave us tips to help her along. The facilities here are amazing, but the staff are what makes it great. We HIGHLY recommend Changing Tomorrow Academy and will be eternally grateful for how they took care of our little one.
