We have just switched to Manhattan Fire Safety this month and had a couple of services done with Jorge. So far everything has been smooth and efficient. The price is fair, the inspector and office staff are helpful. I've scrolled through the reviews and noticed that almost the negative reviews are mainly people complaining about their sale's approach. It is understandable one could get annoyed being bugged and persuaded into service he doesn't want or even doesn't need. However, If you are a construction trade company who constantly need extinguishers service/repair or purchases, they are actually quite a good option. We have recently had a major management change, as well as significant changes to our dispatching and account systems which have proven to be very effective to our customer and employee satisfaction. It is from a former employee who was rendered disabled due to an unsafe chair about which a complaint was expressed and no action was taken to ensure the safety of this employee. As a result, said employee has had to undergo and is still undergoing months of painful physical therapy in order to enable him to walk normally again. It is not a career. There are no benefits...only intimidation and exploitation. It is not a happy and healthy work environment as the company stated. The physical, financial, emotional and mental well-being of the employees is not a consideration. There are no happy and healthy employees on the sales force - most of them have back problems and a couple of them need canes to assist them...most likely from years of long hours sitting in unsafe chairs. This company works on our fire extinguisher maintenance and inspections. I really think they should brush up on their customer service and cold calling skills. We have been working with them for years and now they are asking for new information. Very bizarre. I always get a call from the same 2 people. They seem to have been there for way too long. We have our extinguishers, we get them annually inspected as per law. Please do not pester us about more inspections than needed. Be respectful. read more

I have repeatedly told these twits that we are tenants in a commercial building. Therefore fire extinguishers are the responsibility of the management agent of the building and not the tenants. Today was another call and I told her the same exact thing. She tells me well this is the the first time we have called you. No lady, it's not and you're effing annoying. Given her dorky accent I'm doubting she's even in Manhattan. It's VERY simple to Google a company and check their address AND to find out who the managing agent is of the building. the most unprofessional customer service I have ever encountered , harasses and calls phone nasty and unprofessional , over a $60 bill that we never recieved, when we did recieve it they called not even 24 hours later harassing about the money on a holiday and threatening collections after being told it is a holiday and will be done after holiday. Just received a (an unsolicited) call from thyme about servicing our fire extinguisher. We had ours serviced in 9/19. I told the woman on the phone as much. She got very irate saying we having been serviced by them since 2018. (These fire extinguisher ppl just randomly call businesses and show up, hence how ours was serviced by another company). This woman proceeds to berate me for having gone with another company and tries to bully me to get it serviced tomorrow, even though we have another few months left. read more

I just received such a call and asked why he was calling me when he knows damn well I'm not his customer. I didn't experience the terrible attitude from these guys, but the inspector did show up within 6 months instead of the 1 year. And it feels like every time he shows, something is out of date, or needs to be replaced, or needs to be inspected, or needs SOMETHING. I confronted him and asked why he was back so soon, and he said "Well after this I don't need to come back until 1 year later, so just put it in your calendar and remind them when they call you in 6 months." Every few months they give me a call asking to check my fire extinguishers. I keep telling them they have called a personal residence not a business and to take me off their mailing list. They just called again and instead of hanging up I asked them if they were aware they had over a dozen negative yelp reviews and had been reported to the Better Business Bureau. The guy that called said he wasn't and hung up on me. Well today I called back and spoke to someone claiming to be Suzanne who said I was on no list and it wasn't a scam. I finally told her my next call was to the Public Advocate and to transfer me to her supervisor. She claimed she was the person that I needed to talk to in order to be removed from the list that apparently doesn't exist. She then transferred me to another person that said "customer service" and he immediately removed me from the list that doesn't exist. I don't know how this company got my name and personal cell phone number, but they call me at least once a week and ask me to check the date that my fire extinguisher was last inspected. I've always known it was a scam- I've never purchased a fire extinguisher. If I say I'm not home, they ask me to check the one at work. They try to rope you into scheduling an inspection and are just absolutely relentless. I've asked to be removed from the list so many times and they keep calling. Scammers. They called me at my office to see when our unit was inspected last. First, we go through Lund, and I told them we are getting a new one since we have a defective Kidde product, then he went onto say he can order for us and forward my office the bill. I said, why would I pay for a recalled product? He said they require that. Well, I wasn't born yesterday, and called Kidde, they are sending me a new one, FREE, as suspected with any recalled product, and it will be here in 10-15 business days. This company called pretending to be our regular provider - even telling me that one of my extinguishers was due for a change. I stupidly scheduled service thinking they were my regular company but when I received my bill which is FOUR TIMES the amount from my other provider I realized my mistake. They are very sneaky. They call our locations and say they need to check the expiration dates on our fire extinguishers like they already do business with us. If the person answering the phone does not know which company usually comes out, they give them the date and are tricked into scheduling a service call. They use their name to their advantage because it sounds like it could be a city department. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS. I have run the same store for a number of years and every year they "inspect" our extinguishers. In 2013 I notice that they just came in, changed the tag, and left. In 2014, they tried to do the same thing, but I asked them to actually test the extinguisher, and it turns out that both our extinguishers had been expired for 2 years. This year, they tried to bill me for "inspecting" 2 extinguishers (conveniently when I wasn't at the store), but only one of them has an updated tag. These people are con artists that are just taking your money, just call your local fire department annually and ask them if you can bring your extinguishers in for inspection. read more

I live in a small self-managed building and volunteered to stay home to meet the guy from Manhattan Fire and Safety who was supposed to come inspect our fire extinguishers. They were scheduled to arrive between 10-1 and were to call me half and hour before arrival. At one, with no word, I called the main office and was told there was no way for them to find out where the service man was, when he would arrive, or even if he was coming at all. I called again at 4 and was then told he wasn't able to come that day but could come the next day. I told them I couldn't be home and ask them to call the person they usually liaise with for our building to reschedule. The following day, I get a call while I'm at work from the serviceman who is in front of the building, 24 hours late, and wants me to let him in. Horrible, unreliable company. read more

BEWARE! ** SCAMMERS! ** DO NOT TAKE THEIR CALLS. They are so desperate for business, they try to scam you into buying something you dont need. They call trying to trick the office receptionist pretending that our company is already an existing client and its "that time of year again to register the fire extinguishers." They want the information off each tag on every extingusher in the office. DONT FALL FOR IT! Anything to do with fire safety is handled by the building super. We never heard of this company. The caller was surprised to find the receptionist knew a lot more than he gave credit for. Caller got beligerant, LIED and tried insults, like - "Well you dont know this is the way its been done FOR MANY YEARS." Thats a lie! He also said, "Actually, it is the individual tenants reponsibility not the super." Thats a lie! And then his panties were so tied up in a knot, he just had to try insults, like: "Obviously you arent qualified to take this call. You arent the person that handles these things!" - Nice try because actually she is the person in the know about such things, and thats why she knew he is a bs'er. Manhattan Fire is scamming people on regular bases. No, not in India. Right here in Manhattan. They will fool receptionist into thinking they have contract and they are coming for scheduled service. They will then come and tag all extinguishers. Scam is they do not have contract with the company. So they then send invoice that no one wants to pay because they have another company they do have contract with. Then they start calling threatening with lawsuit. If you let them in the building to see one tenant, they start visiting all other tenants trying to scam them too, essentially trespassing. For this reason they are not allowed in my building and if they do have legit business here they are to be escorted in and out of the building. Over years they tried this with few companies and actually fooled one receptionist. Such nuisance! They just called one of our tenants today trying to convince them that they are scheduled to come for extinguisher service. This is what prompted me to write this review. Tenant thankfully came to me and I informed them that they have contract with another company and that this practice of Manhattan Fire is known to us. Tenant will be writing reviews as well. read more
