I wish I had read other Yelp reviews more carefully... I am new in the area and needed a few jackets cleaned before a trip. I dropped off the jackets on a Wednesday afternoon after confirming they could be ready on Saturday (important because I was headed out of town early on Sunday). I was very clear that I could only drop them off if they would be ready by Saturday. Manny said "of course, that is why we're here". Fast forward to Saturday -- only one jacket is ready, I'm told "come back Monday" for the other. Now I'm left scrambling to replace this jacket last minute before the trip. When asked why it wasn't ready, I was offered a few vague comments: "sometimes a stain takes longer than expected (there was no stain to remove); sometimes light color fabrics take longer". There was no apology offered, I was just given a shrug and asked for my payment. I won't go back to Manny's, and it isn't because the jacket wasn't ready on time. Things happen, I understand that. I'm more frustrated because there are so many things they could have done differently that would have made the experience better. They could have said "sorry, we probably can't have them ready for Saturday" so I could have made alternate arrangements. They could have called me today (or whenever they knew the jacket wouldn't be ready on time) so I didn't have to be disappointed when I arrived. And they could have offered a simple apology for the problem...acknowledged in some way that their actions had caused a great inconvenience. The work on my jackets seems fine, but there are plenty of other dry cleaners in the area...I'll try to find a better option elsewhere. read more

recently the service here has declined and the prices have gone up. The final straw happened last week. My delivery was three days late and the owner was rude to me over the phone and screamed at me when I went in to complain. He is nasty, especially to women. No apologies for late delivery, only abuse. Find someone who understands the concept of service. read more

I trust them to do the job well, on time, and for a reasonable price. No chemically-dry-cleaner smells, very good finishing, and enough packaging to feel you got your money's worth--they don't overdo it. Great tailoring, and you can really trust them with your denim. $10 per pair of pants (a little high for the area, but worth it), and they redid one pair for me free of charge once when the length was off (my fault for not bringing the right shoes). read more

Manny's never failed me while I lived in Forest Hills. When my apartment building renovated the laundry room Manny saved the day. And after having my laundry outsourced I never did my own laundry again. (Partly true I still wash certain items myself just because I am a crazy person and like certain things washed a certain way and separate)! It is so nice to drop it of in the morning and pick it up later in the afternoon or the next day if it is vey busy. Unlike other reviews I have never had a problem with my cloths not being properly washed. However it has been a while since I was there and they may have changed owners since my last visit. read more

I feel like sh*t every time I leave this place. If you want just bulk cleaning/pressing for button down shirts this place is fine. My husband has been cleaning his work shirts for years and no issues. However this is the second time I tried to hem or alter a dress and literally they have the worst attitude about it. This time around I had the older lady. She literally just didn't want to be bothered with me at all. I changed my mind about tailoring the sleeves of a dress and requested them to be removed entirely instead - which I asked very nicely - and all which It took less than a minute of her additional time- but it was like I asked for a charity handout - or asking her to work for free. I was literally blabbering I'm sorry like 4 or 5 times bc she seemed so annoyed but didn't even acknowledge me. Just removing short sleeves she charged me 28 bucks- so I know she ain't working for free or doing me a favor- despite her attitude otherwise. I walked out so annoyed at myself for practically begging forgiveness over something that I shouldn't be apologizing for. Never coming here again. read more

My first experience was dropping off in person and then delivered. Delivered late. Second experience an item dropped off to be tailored. They never delivered on date promised. I send my son ( 14 ) to pick up the next day and he gets yelled at by counter person and they cannot find item for ten minutes. Third Experience and last: I have bag of laundry and tailoring to be picked up with typed instructions. Laundry is delivered , instructions ignored, tailoring not done, items dry cleaned that I specified need repair only and cc was billed. When you try to call and explain no matter how many times I tell the person on the phone instruction were in the bag and typed he tells me don't give driver instructions he won't understand. How much clearer can you get that enclosing a typed page of instructions with your address, name and phone number? Not going back. read more

There are 4 questions that matter most when I bring clothes to the cleaners 1. Has the stain been lifted and is my garment legitimately clean? 2. Is the pricing reasonable? 3. Is the turn around timely? 4. Is the staff friendly and professional? In short: yes, yes, yes and YES!!! I had moved into the Briarwood area and was in desperate need of expert tailoring and dry cleaning. I had been to 5 or 6 cleaners/tailors around the forest hills area and was not satisfied. I finally went into Manny's cleaners and was really surprised at the FRIENDLINESS, PROFESSIONALISM, in all aspects of their business. I picked up the dress I got altered here, and they did a fantastic job. I just had it taken in--a dress that was about a size big for me--but it now fits perfectly. I brought in a pair of pants, brand new from the store with tags attached. I only needed a hem. Came back to pick pants up and there was a stain, which the owner indicated that I should use a damp cloth to see if it came off at home and if not, he would try to get the stain out for free. I try the pants on without shoes and the hem seemed okay. I get home and try the pants on with hills/shoes and realize one leg is longer than the other. Now I understand that perhaps the pants could have had one leg longer than the other when i brought them. But a good tailor should have measured both legs and would have realized this. I just think that more effort should have been taken with the stain, and the hem line on the pants should have been measured correctly (both legs should have been measured). Anyway I had an interview set up, and had to get this alteration done rather quickly. So I took the pants to another tailor and paid $12.00 on top of the $26 I gave Mannys to get the pants hemmed correctly. That tailor indicated that he always measures both legs when adjusting a hemline. Not very happy, more attention to detail should have been taken.. read more

I came across Manny's Cleaners and told them my situation and asked what they would be able to do. Not only were they extremely helpful, they did so with extreme care and quality service. I've visited many other cleaners and dealt with rude customer service. But when I had an emergency, they came through. Manny's delivers & picks up from all of the apartment buildings in the immediate area, and almost always drops off ahead of schedule. Do not bring your whites here. They don't do anything for those annoying sweat stains (or stains in general) and I've had white/off-white pieces come back yellow. I brought in pants for zipper replacements. $12, which is alright, but they replaced my metal YKK zipper with a plastic one. Wish they would've said something about that. I'd be willing to pay more for a real replacement. They return your blouses with paper stuffing in the sleeves. Which I don't understand because that introduced wrinkles into the sleeves. They did that for an especially soft, silk blouse of mine, and the sleeves have been severely imprinted with many tiny bumps from the paper. Perhaps come here for alterations, but for legit cleaning I'd look elsewhere. read more

The owner changed and service levels have changed as well. Unfortunately for all local residents service is now atrocious. If you want to ruin your garments, drop them off for cleaning or alterations. This is what happened to me. I am sure the new average rating will lose another star in a few month. Im always skeptical when trying anything new, but I tried them out anyway as management has recently changed and the location is convenient for me. When I first moved to Forest Hills a year ago I was delighted to see a dry cleaners that looked decent within walking distance of my apt. I took an expensive Theory, cashmere, sweater there to be cleaned and when it was returned it felt like an entirely different fabric. I have no idea how they managed to ruin the sweater so thoroughly but it is no longer soft or as beautiful as it was prior to taking it there. I've been a customer for a year and would've appreciated if they could at least be nicer and offer a reimbursement or some sort of help or apology. My husband had his suit picked up on a Monday to be cleaned and pressed. He asked that it be returned by Thursday because we are going away on Friday for a wedding. He was told that wouldn't be a problem. We arrived home today and no suit. Upon calling Manny's he was told they couldn't drop it off and the person on the phone (not Manny) was very rude. How does a dry cleaner earn five stars? Well, three stars would be for any run of the mill place that doesn't destroy my clothes. Four stars would be a place that doesn't destroy my clothes, consistently does a good job, on time, including alterations and will re-do an item for free if they couldn't get a stain out the first time. Five stars is a cleaners that does all that but also goes the extra mile, like when I have a business trip the next day and they do me a favor and rush all of cleaning basically overnight, or if I'm running late home from work and I need to drop something off and I call and they offer to stay open for an extra few minutes. So, five stars for Manny's over about 5 years using them. read more

Good service and that's about all. I constantly have to bring things back because they don't remove stains. My white coats constantly come back with stains not removed and same for my shirts. Also my white coats come back with hair and various other material on it. Poor 1st time cleaning, unless u clearly show the stain to them they will miss it. They will redo it for free, but it's become annoying to constantly have to redo everything. Time to look for a new dry cleaner that actually does the work properly and doesn't just take your money and waste your time. Would not recommend this dry cleaner. read more
