Since moving from up North a couple of years ago, where we get wonderful hay (& our horses were on…read moreactual pasture except in winter), J&B is the only place we trust getting hay from for our competition horses - best coastal, fresh alfalfa, nice Timothy. Absolutely wonderful family run business, consistent great quality & availability, kindest & knowledgeable gentlemen....a gem of a place that we hope is around for a very long time!

I adopted a kitten a few days ago, and the rescue center recommended using equine pellets as…read morelitter, which you can find at a feed or tractor store. Equine pellets are suggested because they reduce the risk of asthma, upper respiratory infections, bowel obstructions, and chemical exposure, while also being environmentally friendly. I had never heard of a feed store before, so I had to Google one within the vicinity. J&B Feed & Hay came up with stellar reviews and so I decided to make the drive to Menchaca. When I arrived, the store was located on a farm with a dirt road leading up to it. I found what I needed, and the cashier not only rang me up but also helped load 80 pounds of pellets (40 lbs cost only $6 compared to the 30 lbs of litter being $20) into my trunk. I'm not sure if I'll stick with pellets for my kitten, but if I do--or if I ever decide to get any farm animals--I'll easily return.

We were building out garden and want to support local store so we stop by to check this place out…read more Since we may need at least 2 sq. y and they have deliveries service, we decided to go with this place. We picked the pea gravels for the garden walk path to match with our deck and asked the register what he would suggested for the new, first time garden bed that we just built. The guy at register said promix and we took his suggestion and excited to put them in our garden bed to find out that these consist of basically 70% sand and the rest are some small pieces mulch, pebbles and clay kind of stuff (doesn't look like compose). As time goes by after putting plants in and water them for few weeks we notice nothing grow and the dirt became cakey so I decided to ask around for the opinion on this dirt and everyone think its nothing but just craps. We have to throw almost all these away as its not suitable for garden bed and we did take the issue back to the store and they said they can do nothing about it as they use the same thing on their garden bed too which I called bs. The gravels we bought was great, the dirt is trashed. Hood amount of money spent to learn the lesson.

I just learned about this store. Thank God for Instagram right! I just tell the universe what I…read morewant, and within minutes I see ads for what I was asking for. Genius! Why am I so excited about this wood working place, you ask, well, because they do classes! YES, wood working classes and you don't need to bring your own tools, or have any wood working back ground. Sign. Me. Up! So they have classes on weekdays, weekends, afternoons, and nights. You just go online, pick the class you want, pay for the class, and show up. Easy. So I looked at their schedule, and they have like a couples charcuterie board, cute date night. They have a cheese slicer board. Cutting board, two piece heart candle holder. Bowl turning. Some cool wood working projects. I'm excited to book a class. About the store, wow, they have so many cool tools, different types of wood. Store is super clean. Employees very nice and helpful. They are in a shopping center so they have plenty of parking.

My husband recently took up a new hobby, and we stumbled into this store to look at woodworking…read moretools. We found a whole lot more than that... This store has knowledgeable employees, a huge selection of tools and hardwoods, fair prices (and a price match), and CLASSES. Unfortunately, that means my husband's new hobby is expanding and we're running out of space for equipment. Not to mention all the things he's been making, which so far include things like a picnic table for the kids and patio chairs... Come on y'all, who wouldn't love this?!
