I pulled a back muscle (or two) during a recent office move and wanted to speed up my recovery. I scheduled a 30 minute session online through the Mantis website (very easy and intuitive). Kelsey was my therapist and she was fantastic! She took time before the session began to discuss my pain areas and where to focus our thirty minutes. Then Kelsey went straight to work! To make the most of our time I asked her to dial up the pressure. At one point I think her feet came off the floor! It felt awesome. But this is where Mantis gets the 5th star; the consultation afterwards. Kelsey gave me tips and advice on posture, ergonomics at work, and how to stretch out my back at home. A little goes a long way and Kelsey was all about the details. I will definitely schedule another session again soon. read more

I double checked here on yelp and am glad to now be adding to the five stars to this business. Ash was my masseuse or should I say my "mattise"- as in Pierre. She is an artist and her work, touch, and professionalism was sincerely what I needed. I loathe the end of a massage- it always makes me a little anxious because I know that the relaxation is ending, but I especially appreciated that the wind down was calm and seemed to taper off perfectly. I came because my neck had been hurting and she not only listened to my concerns, but targeted that area for my entire 30 minute massage like I requested. I started going to Mantis on Airport after moving to Austin in January. I'd had several really terrible massage experiences over the past 2 years and was extremely nervous to try again with someone new, but Ann Marie was very understanding and listened carefully during my first session to make sure everything was compatible. I visited Mantis Massage for the first time yesterday. I had a deep tissue massage from Ginie and it was the best I've had to date. She did myofascial tissue release on my neck and shoulders. She warned me it would hurt but I would not be sorry. She was not wrong. My razor sharp headaches were gone almost mmediately. She released tightness in my shoulders and surprisingly in my hips which I didn't even know I had. She helped me identify where I hold my stress. Excellent massage! If you are a musician or have a lot of repetitive motion in your life, Mantis is a great place to get it dealt with. Kyra was very knowledgable about the muscles involved in guitar playing, the postures, and back problems that can plague a working musician. My husband bought me a 90 minute massage as a gift for the holidays, so that I could get a prenatal massage. I scheduled it at 37 weeks, which was later than I had originally intended. It turned out to be a happy accident, because I was experiencing a lot of swelling in my hands and ankles at that point. Kelsey brought me into the room for a consultation before we started the massage, so I mentioned the swelling to her. She said we could focus on increasing my circulation to help reduce the swelling. As this was my first massage ever, I was initially worried about being exposed and uncomfortable with the massage experience, however, the entire space was very relaxing and Kelsey put me immediately at ease. It was definitely one of the more relaxing experiences I've ever had, and the swelling visibly shifted the next day and disappeared by day two. read more

She got the knots out of my shoulders which is a feat only one other person has ever been able to do (and they had to do cupping).
