There is a large grassy area filled with toy houses that the kids can go inside. There are also some swings and a pretty toddler safe jungle gym. There are a few things about the jungle gym that aren't great for the under 3 crowd, namely a set of climbing rungs built for taller kids and there are 1 or 2 spots on the second level that don't have a railing so if your child doesn't understand how gravity works yet they are liable to step off the edge and fall 4-5 feet to the sandy ground. There is also a cement area with 2 toy basketball hoops that I've witnessed many a stumbling toddler fall on. I appreciate all the benches for parents and misc. caregivers to sit and chat (a big plus if you're there for 1-2 hours a day and don't feel the need to hover obsessively over your child). Best part is that it's gated and that almost every area of the park is clearly visible from every bench (again, great if your an aware, but not obsessive parent). The only major con is the cleanliness of the park, specifically the amount of trash on the ground. There are a few garbage cans but I regularly see people just leaving napkins and wrappers on the benches or ground. It would be great to see people throwing out their trash or seeing the city clean up once in a while. Another lesser con is that nobody bothers to throw away any broken toys, there have been a few times that I've had to deal with a baby crying because I wouldn't let him impale himself on a jagged, broken shovel piece. So that's less than ideal.

One of Lincoln's greatest strengths is its natural beauty. The town is full of wooded neighborhoods, winding roads, and mature trees that make even a quick drive feel relaxing. Lincoln Woods State Park is an incredible resource to have practically in your backyard. Whether you're walking the trails, spending the day by the water, or simply enjoying the scenery, it's a place that never gets old. The Blackstone River Valley is another gem, with miles of scenic bike paths and walking trails that follow the river through some of the most beautiful landscapes in northern Rhode Island. Despite all that greenery, Lincoln is incredibly convenient. You can be in downtown Providence in about fifteen minutes, and getting onto a major highway is quick no matter where you are in town. That central location makes commuting easy while still allowing you to come home to a place that feels removed from the noise and congestion. I've also come to appreciate how much history surrounds you here. The old mill villages like Albion, Lonsdale, and Manville give the town a lot of character, and driving along Great Road never gets old. It's a reminder that Lincoln has managed to preserve its past while continuing to grow in all the right ways. For families, it's hard to beat. The schools have an outstanding reputation, the neighborhoods are safe, and it's common to see people out walking their dogs, riding bikes, or chatting with neighbors. There's a genuine sense of community here that you don't always find anymore. There's also plenty to do without leaving town. Whether it's dinner at one of the excellent local restaurants, grabbing ice cream on a summer evening, spending an afternoon at Lincoln Woods, catching some excitement at Bally's Twin River, or challenging friends at R1 Indoor Karting, there's always something nearby. It strikes a nice balance between small-town charm and having enough amenities that you rarely need to go far. Lincoln isn't flashy, and I think that's part of its appeal. It's clean, safe, well maintained, and surrounded by beautiful scenery. It offers the kind of quality of life that's easy to take for granted until you've lived somewhere else. For us, Kendall Estates has been a wonderful place to call home, and I honestly can't imagine living anywhere else in Rhode Island.

So we googled picnic areas nearby and put our GPS to Medway, MA. The rood trip was winding picturesque road through towns with beautiful houses and finally came to Choate Park. Free and plenty of parking. It's a trash free park, what you bring in, take out. There is an event pavilion and beautiful lake for catch & release fishing ....or turtles ( see pics) lol. There is a fantastic playground for the little & big ones. The trail around the lake has exercise spots and open fields with a huge wall mural. This will definitely be a go to spot for picnics, walking and being in nature.

Highlights: -fenced in with only two doors -bathrooms (clean and open until 5pm) -clean - picnic area with tables and benches. Covered and large with plenty of seating. -electric car charging station (not free) -plenty of parking Cons -no trash cans. Small inconvenience. Overall would def recommend as a summertime activity.

There was good amount of shade when we were there, and plenty of benches for parents to sit while keeping an eye on the kids. The playground itself is clean, well-kept, and has equipment for both toddlers and older kids. On top of that, there's a basketball court right next to it, which is great for kids/parents who want to shoot some hoops. Parking is easy, and the area feels really family-friendly.
