What keeps me coming back, aside from the convenient location right by the freeway exit and fantastic selection, is the help I get here. There are a few gentleman here who have given me some truly invaluable advice through my home improvement journey, advising me through problems, emergencies, and projects just for fun. One of those gentlemen in Mike in hardware. He takes the time to talk to me and understand what I'm trying to accomplish, and he recommends best tools and practices according to his own experience. several times he's even asked me how this or that is doing from a past problem we've solved together. I try to seek him out whenever I've got a question, he either knows how to explain how to fix something, or the direction to point me in when he doesn't. He's so kind and helpful - THANK YOU Mike! There's another gentleman (I don't remember his name, I'm so sorry!) that helped me when I was purchasing a space heater a couple years ago when my furnace broke. We talked about why I was buying one and he ended up recommending a small business in town with furnace parts, and that small business directed me toward an honest contractor that fixed my issue in less than 5 minutes for no charge. It really saved my hide and my wallet that winter. And honorable mention for Richard at the paint counter, he retired a few years ago, but we worked together several times while I was painting my entire house interior. He was the sweetest most helpful soul and I hope he's having a great retirement. Taylorsville Lowe's, your people are what keep me coming back. I go out of my way to shop at this specific location. Some of us are making our way through life without a village, I don't have someone to call when I need a drain replaced or an outlet changed. The employees that work here have equipped me with the knowledge and tools to be a more independent person. Please take care of these wonderful human beings, they truly deserve the world.

Their "solution" was for me to order the item online for in-store pickup. After placing the order, I waited in my car for nearly 20 minutes and never received the product. Now I'm out almost $600 while I wait for the refund to process. Save yourself the hassle and shop elsewhere. Or just order online and skip the in-store experience altogether--you'll be treated the same either way.

I have to give lots of love for any kind of plant shop. I mean, these days when you can have a…read moreplant shipped to your house (as I was surprised to find on my porch last week!) it's hard to imagine all the love and care and curation and maintenance that goes into having a bunch of stuff in stock that can die. What a brave business to be in! My small collection of houseplants is growing, as are each individual plant. I found myself in need of a new container for a Blue Star Fern that has outgrown its current home, and so I thought hey, why not go see what I can find. What I was actually searching for was a simple nursery container, as I have a lovely decorative outer container, but they do sell quite the variety of decorative containers. From the simple terra cotta to the more fancy glazed, to cement (love!) and some pretty massive ones out back. They have glass containers for air plants, and some way way way cool glass ones that are made by blowing glass onto driftwood or other wood, and the glass actually forms a custom fit onto the wood. Holla atcha terrarium peeps! Sadly, they not have nursery containers. Or at least they did not sell them--I spied them on the bench, but apparently they're not for sale. It's a tiny space so you're not going to get much variety, especially of any size. Pack in a few mature monstera or fiddle leaf figs and suddenly it's a forest, so while there are some lovely little succulents, you don't get a ton of different house plants. I was also surprised to see so many artificial plants. They advertise commercial plants, so perhaps that's why? Easier to maintain, for sure! Outside there are a few outdoor plants, but it's not like a nursery where you might go to grab all of your bedding plants or annuals for the year. It was interesting to see the style. There are some containers or hanging containers, or tiered setups that are on the very edge of what's what right now. Air plants. Succulents. Someone is doing their homework. But there are also some very old school things, and the "it plants" were conspicuously absent. Online, everyone is all hot and bothered over raven ZZ plants, or pink dalmation aglaomena, or pink *anything*, and here they are all absent, and we have the always venerable pothos and sansevieria. It's like there are two forces at play making orders. I suppose this is the reality of owning a plant shop, balancing what is known and solid and dependable for business, and what is trendy and drives traffic when you hit it right. Worth a visit to see what strikes your fancy, and packed full of really large containers in the back. Other shops may have more variety, but every plant shop has its own charm and is full of discoveries waiting to happen.

It was the perfect date night-an activity and a souvenir, and priced at $5 per person (plus supplies) I felt like it was a good deal. We arrived a few minutes early and saw other attendees lurking about, a little unsure on what to do. Eventually, we found our way to the back where there were tables setup and our instructor, ready to get hands dirty. The class itself was fun-Lucas showed us different plant options as well as items to put at the bottom of our containers to provide drainage. I would have loved to have had more time with him to learn more about the specific plants, what goes well together and how to best care for them when we got home. But there were at least 20 people there, all with questions, so we did our best and had a great time! While we were there, we also perused the other products-specifically the produce-so we could eat some fresh fruit while we planted. The selection was fresh, and we took home raspberries, nectarines and apples-as well as a bottle of raspberry jam. I didn't see a TON of larger plants or things for the yard-most of what I saw was on the smaller side. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I'm sure we will be back as we grow our collection of indoor plants.

During our time in SLC back in April, I was on an antique shop streak and The Old Flamingo came up…read morein my search. It was the perfect spring day, with some decent cloud cover. There was plenty of parking in the adjacent private lot. It's in a quiet area of Millcreek as well. While The Old Flamingo wasn't a huge store, there were still plenty of cute finds. You just have to take the time to browse. Prices were reasonable as well. They have an Instagram page that you can follow if you wish. I ended up finding a 60's Cedar Waxwing cup, which I promptly set my heart on; it is now safely sitting on my collectibles shelf. The owner was sweet and jovial, and I really enjoyed the vibes of this antique store. I will definitely return the next time we visit SLC!

It's a little tight, especially with lots of customers and guests, but I loved seeing all the pretties! I appreciate the kindness of the staff and allowing us to chat in their space for awhile.
