Multiple grades of gasoline were available for purchase. The windshield cleaning supplies were fully stocked. The areas around the pumps were clean and tidy. When I went inside to buy a beverage, I was presented with ample choices. They even had a walk-in "beer cave" cooler. It was mid afternoon, and an employee happened to be brewing some fresh iced tea. So I purchased a giant, 44 ounce, cup of that, and the price after taxes was only $1.64. Very reasonable! Looking around, they had fresh donuts, a pizza oven actively being used by an employee to cook some pizza, and an abundance of prepackaged snacks. I went to the counter to pay, and when the line became a little bit long, multiple employees came up to the cash registers to quickly get everyone checked out. Impressive! Kudos to Adakin for patiently answering my questions and getting me signed up for Thorntons' loyalty program. I wish that this chain of convenience stores would open locations in my home town's area. I will definitely make Thorntons my first choice of fueling stops whenever I return to middle Tennessee.

I had used the women's washroom, which is also shared between the two businesses. It was clean and nicely maintained. It was my first time at a Flying J. There used to be one at Highway 27 and Albion Road in Etobicoke that I passed by often. It has since changed over to a Shell station. I loved being at the gas station with an incredible store. I wouldn't even say that it was a convenience store. It was far better! I have never seen so many hot dog varieties in my life, including a limited Nashville hot variety. The iced tea varieties were also cool. I appreciated an unsweetened version. You also had sweet and citrus. I do enjoy looking at beverages. I was happy to see Arizona and Snapple drinks. There was also beer. The phone accessories and electronics were amazing. I picked up a USB C cable that splits such that you can listen to audio on one side and continue charging your device with the other side. As convenient as it is these days to have wireless earbuds, when they lose their charge, you lose your audio. Especially when I'm travelling, I'd rather have this setup with corded earbuds and a means to charge your phone when your phone does not have a headphone jack. It was a nerdy find, but such a cool one. You can also choose from a wide assortment of CB radios. It was great looking at them, as it was all new to me. I also invaded the pork rinds section. I picked up a bag of chili lime ones, which I snacked on right up until I boarded my plane from Detroit to Toronto. They were delicious. Thanks, Turkey Creek! The man at the counter was nice. I paid for my items with a credit card. All went well. He asked me if I needed a bag. Nope, I was okay without one. I thanked him and left with my purchases. I enjoyed my brief visit. If you need to stop here on a road trip, you're in good hands. (319)

Other shoppers were waiting patiently in line. One of the customers mentioned out loud customers were wanting to buy their stuff and go, as we could all here the store employees in a back room, talking loudly about how bad their store was. Once one of the employees heard the annoyed customer, she stormed to the counter and said to me very condescendingly that I needed to ring the bell to get their assistance. Of course, there was no sign, and the bell was at the far end of the counter and not very visible. The attendant went on tapping the bell very aggressively, where the other store employee said she would be right with us. That is when the rude employee at the counter said out loud in an angry voice that was not a customer, it was her teaching us how to use a bell. If I did not need to take this adaptor to my very ill mother-in-law at the hospital, I would likely have shoved the bell up her ass. This should be an embarrassment to Dollar General and trash like that should not be allowed to work anywhere around customers.

You can't get through the place because of all the unopened cartons that are in the middle of the aisle that haven't been put on the shelves yet. Every time I say something, I always hear how short-staffed they are. And God forbid you ask somebody how they are or how their day is, because they WILL tell you! Whatever happened to, "I'm fine thanks. How are you?" These people are not shy about sharing every intimate detail of their lives with you. Ain't nobody got time for that! Ring me up and let me be on my way. The prices are pretty decent on the things that they carry, provided you can find them in stock when you go. It's a crapshoot whether you will come out with what you were looking for or whether you will need to go elsewhere. And the store in Pegram is just as bad. Corporate needs to take some of those profits they're raking in, hire some decent people, and do some freaking customer service training. Clean up your damn parking lot! It's disgusting! If it wasn't for the fact that I need to go farther afield in order to get the things I need, I'd stop going here at all. They've only been in business for a couple of years and if things don't turn around, I'm thinking they'll probably be out of there in a couple of years.
