We decided to stop by and get a couple things done. Since the battery kiosk closed at the mall, we were excited to find this shop. The store itself is open, with shoe products and boots for sale. The owner was super informative, friendly, communicative, and quick. I brought a pair of boots to see if the inner part could be fixed and he was kind to let me know there's nothing he could do because of the material. I appreciated his honesty and information on the material of my boot. Even though I wasn't able to get my boots fixed, he was very quick at changing my hubs watch battery. I called ahead to see what the timeline would be to get a heel clip for my shirt boots, the owner said he's about 40 minutes to turns around a heel clip job today. I let him know I would have to wait since I dint have any other boot with me. Small space right next to Starbucks, grab cup and snack while you wait. Definitely a neighborhood spot. The owner knows his customers by name. The back wall has signed photos of local celebrities. The owner seems quite warm, friendly and attentive. Busy day for him today. He wedged me in between jobs. The boot tip is integrated into the whole boot, it would require grinding down the boot and replacing it with a new glued piece. $25. Takes about an hour to grind, cool down and glue the new piece onto it. They do watch battery replacement as well as knife sharpening to wedding gown preservation boxes too. It's a one stop shop. They do take CC, but there's an added charge. Boots were done in about 20 minutes - that's so quick. $25 + CC fee. Good and friendly service. These boots are back for more walking and wear. read more

It's taken me a while to get around to this, but I owe the man behind the counter here many thanks (and some good reviews on social media as promised). A few Saturdays ago I brought in a not-so-cheap backpack that I occasionally fill with some weight and go with on walks/jogs. The other day the buckle which locks the chest strap in place snapped off. Without that, there's no way to put weight in the backpack. For no charge whatsoever he helped reattach the buckle for the chest strap. I could not find anyone else who could and would do this and while the fix was very simple for him he did not have to decide it was no charge. I can't speak to his actual shoe service though the store certainly had a selection of nice looking shoe accessories. I just wish to say this man provides phenomenal service and it's not about money to him. Hat's off to this gentleman! read more

Went next door to grab a coffee and saw the sign on the door that they replace battery watches. Went in and was so happy I did. Great prices with same day service. Super friendly to. My shoes were all worn out around the toes and around the sides the leather had worn off and looked terrible making me ashamed to wear them and they were my favorite shoe. I normally use Said Shoe repair in Ferndale, MI, but since I work in Novi I have been trying to find a repair place close to work. I took a pair of extremely simple black leather flats - no details on these shoes whatsoever, just one seam up the back of the heel - to be dyed and polished, they were just a little scuffed up from regular wear over the past winter. The man at Maples said they were in terrible shape and that it would cost $48 to dye and polish them. I said no thank you, I might as well buy a new pair of shoes if I'm going to spend that much on a simple repair job. I ended up taking them to Said in Ferndale, and the owner said "Wow, these are really nice leather! Just need a little cleaning up." I picked them up the next day, they look brand new, and he only charged me $12. read more

Do you know why bad contractors are sometimes referred too as shoemakers? Because of guys like this. Very unprofessional, no organization or quality care that you would expect when money is exchanged for service. His customer service is a joke, and he'll even call you names when you call him out on his poor workmanship. He charged me $30 for a specific service to reattach a sole to a boot. After 2 weeks, all that was done was a spot glue treatment to the separating areas. The surfaces weren't cleaned so it will separate again, and he he even missed a spot that he was able to patch up in the back in under 60 seconds. When I asked about the service that wasn't received, he went into diva mode, sarcastically asked me if I want money back as he opened the till. I said yes, money is what I want, knowing that wouldn't happen. I asked why my sole was covered in glue and why it wasn't cleaned up after the job. He exhaled dramatically, took the boot on the back, turned on the sander and removed the excess glue. When he came back up he handed it to me and asked if I was happy now. Like I said, excellent customer service. The sole has already started separating, I would take it back to him if he didn't threaten to come around the counter on my first interaction with him... Everyone should have a go-to-guy if your wife wears heels she will need the heels repaired and he's done all 3000 pair my wife owns.... Ever have that one pair of shoes or boots that you just love? I had a pair of low rise boots that had a zipper on the back. I LOVE these boots and was disappointed when the zipper on one broke at the pull. I tried buying other boots to take their place but nothing felt as good as these. Well I stumbled upon Maples Shoe Repair because it is next to a Starbucks I frequent. I took my boot in hoping it could be repaired. The owner was skeptical because it was a tiny zipper, not very common. He had me leave the boot WITHOUT asking for any money upfront. He told me the reasonable price it would be if he could fix it. I came back 10 days later low on optimism. I was pleasantly surprised that he was able to fix the boot and I'm so HAPPY to have my favorite pair of boots back in my closet. The owner was extremely kind and courteous and did a great job at a FAIR price. His shop is not fancy but it gets the job done!
