Astonishingly, these are not 'before' photos -- these are pictures of the boots AFTER they Park Shoe Repair 'fixed' them.

I brought in a pair of Italian hiking boots in to get the midsole repaired, and the treads replaced while I was at it. The repair guy assured me that they could do it, for $140. When I picked them up he said they didn't know how to fix the midsole problem, but they did replace the treads. The next day, while walking in the boots, the tread pulled away from the heel; the glue had failed. I returned and the repair guy said the owner would call me. He never did. A week later someone called to say the boots were "ready." When I picked them up the midsole still wasn't fixed and the treads were glued on in a really amateurish-looking, slap-dash way. I told the repair guy I wasn't happy with the work and he gave me a "Why would I care whether you're happy about the work?" look. He didn't offer a full or even partial refund, and my boots are pretty much ruined. Obviously I can't recommend a merchant that doesn't stand by their work, and seemingly doesn't even know how to do their work.

Stitching to repair a tear and polish put a $20 dent in my pocket.. But it's done..

I have been going to this location for several years now. As the only downtown shoe repair, I'm surprised that it isn't busier although there is usually at least one other person when I arrive. I love that they have given me a couple of free services like punching an extra hole in my belt and summer sandal so they buckled smaller. Typically I've paid modest to more for sole repairs, purse bag handle re-stitching, and polishing. Most recently I brought in my daughter's favorite leather boot to be re-stitched at the ankle seam about 2 inches across where it had come undone. They quoted me $10 on the spot and added $10 more dollars when I requested a polish to remove the scuffs around the toe for a grand total of $20. It's hard to say if this is pricey or not as I haven't been to any other shoe repair since Meijer's had one in their Carpenter Road store. But considering the boots cost $100+ new it's a good investment. The woman taking my order was neither friendly nor was she rude. Just enough to get her job done. Parking can be an issue so plan to allow enough time for this. Worth trying. Much less expensive to get shoes repaired than to purchase new! 4 stars only because service could be friendlier.

One of my shoes, good as new!

We absolutely love Dear Golden! The staff is uplifting and shows you things you wouldn't normally…read morego for. The array and variety of brands and vintage, is to die for! I could spend an entire day here. I wish they were open Monday's as that is my day off but... always come down on weekends when I can. I emailed the owner looking for a dress I had previously tried on in store and she had it available and ready online to purchase immediately! That timing was rare and special! I received it four days later! All the reviews about staff being snobby.... I don't understand at all. My partner and I travel to different shops such as this across the US and collect unique items... there are snobby people but dear golden... they aren't them. People reviewing saying they are, now that sounds snobby. I wish dear golden all the best and can't wait to return.

The reason I am posting this review on Yelp is specifically because of the response my Google…read morereview got (see attached screenshot). I kind of expected ridiculously high prices, it is Ann Arbor after all, but these prices were absurd. What I don't expect is to be ridiculed by the owner because of a simple spelling mistake. Like I said, thier priorities are backwards with no attempt to rectify the situation, only to make it worse after the fact online. I wish I could get paid to sit on my butt all day and ignore customers. At least I was greeted by a lady yelling from the back, but that is considered the bare minimum, just as another 1 star review is. If I could give 0 I would especially now after realizing this is how they respond to potential customers. I will never go back. The vulgar music that was being played throughout the store was my biggest concern at the time, but now it has shifted to the way they responded to me online. If you must buy from them (still way overpriced, I don't know why you would) order from etsy and don't subject yourself to being ignored and annoyed by incompetent store staff. After reading some of these other reviews here I am certain they had to deal with this same person, and it was probably the same person who made the condescending reply to my first review (see picture). I have a hunch that most of these 5 star reviews are either from the staff themselves trying to counter the honest ones or by someone who didn't have to deal with the lack of customer service that I experienced. If you're the owner of the place and you are reading this, please reconsider who you choose to be the face of the store, they are driving your customers away. If in fact the owner was the only one in the store today, and the subject of all the other 1 star reviews here, I would recommend closing your store and finding a new line of business because you are clearly not equipped customer service.
