Don't use Sam's shoes at all. They will damage your shoes and will not accept responsibility. I bought a new pair of yellow shoes. I took the yellow shoes and 5 other pair for Sam to stretch. Why one of my yellow shoes have a red stripe on the side? Asked what happened, the owner played dumb and said a red shoe touched the yellow show. Why would u set a red shoe next to a yellow shoe? They're shoe repair people so they should know shoe colors bleed. Sam said nothing could be done. He didn't offer to replace the shoes and had an indifferent attitude If you do take your items there, take a video of the shoe while there so when they damage, you have proof they did it. read more

I've used this place for years to get repairs on expensive handbags and shoes. Sams is also excellent at dying bags and shoes. They are quite pricey, but you get what you pay for. This is the place to go to get your heels replaced on your favorite flats, pumps, stilettos or boots too. I have had them all replaced here over the years. Usually takes about a week turn around to get heels replaced. It's one of the few places that will replace heels anymore. Absolute Worst Experience Ever!!! This shoe repair shop came highly recommended from my friend. But I will never go to a business that shows such disrespect and contempt for their customer's common sense and integrity The manager had the audacity to lie about the original condition of my shoes after screwing up the heels of my black suede sling backs. 1. The heel taps had fallen off and needed to be replaced. 2. They offered to clean the shoes for $30 and I passed. 3. In replacing the heel taps, they scraped the suede off part of the heel. He tells me it's DIRT. It was the natural material underneath the suede and it looked like they had used shoe polish to make it look black. Awful experience ! Requested a repair on a suede boot as there was a small tear. Also requested repair on a leather bag handle that was torn. Was charged nearly $100, up front of course . Picked up today and the boot had glue slopped over the repaired area. And my leather bag handle looked like a child repaired it-and still had the yellow foam lamination exposed post repair! I pointed both issues out and the owner hustled the items into the back, quickly and sloppily painted the exposed foam and rubbed the suede shoe so aggressively to remove the glue that he damaged the fibers. When I again questioned the quality of both, he started yelling at me that the bag was old, excuses for the shoe, etc. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. So I hear of this place from some one in my local leather repair shop here in Birmingham MI "Franks" and because they were closed, I needed some where else to bring my Wife $4,800 hand bag for a light key ring repair. Normally I Send it right to chanel to get repaired, but there turn around time is months out, and the bag I was sending was a bag she used every day. So I thought I would take it to my local leather repair shop. Since Franks was close I thought I would try out Sam's and I am less the happy with the result. My wife bag is now ruined for resale value. When I arrived to the place To drop off the bag I asked the guy at the desk if you they work with these kink of bag, and are you familiar with how to repair them. He immediately assured me that they were WELL adverse in these types of hand bags and I shouldn't worry. I then went to tell he about specific positioning of the Chanel lettering, and how important it is to the brand and the value of the bag the all the letter is cohesive. He then told me "the something you would have to tell someone who is not skilled in this area however, we absolutely know that and deal with bags like this all the time." so I let him have the bag. The Area that was being repaired was the Key Ring, Which is the hole where the bag chains come out. The little metal part was lose, so I was in my Eyes a very simple light repair. When I originally pick up the bag the there was Glue ALL around the Key hole area, and the peace was glued on UPSIDE down. So the chanel lettering was not uniform. Any Luxury Bag owner know how important this is for the value of the bag, but most important I mentioned this in the beginning when I dropped off the bag. So I the immediately when back in and asked for it to be amended. He apologies and told me he didn't even realize he made the mistake. As much as I appreciate him realizing and apologizing for his mistake, my concern with this issue is his lack of attention to detail when working on a high priced luxury handbag. So I left it with him to fix again and when I came back two days later to pick it up, it was worse. You can see where he ripped the key ring out with all the glue to fix the positioning of the Chanel lettering, you can also see where some of the leather color fragments have been pulled off as well and there was still glue all over the key ring area. Now the bag is comple I don't know what to do about it. I'm almost positive they are phenomenal with shoes however luxury handbags I do notrecommend taking them here. send them back to the designer workshop or find a luxury handbag restoring shop if I find one here in MI I'll let you guys know about. read more

Very nasty, very rude and very poor customer service! They had to repair my shoes TWICE because the first time I came to pick them up they weren't fixed correctly and if I didn't say anything they were going to let me leave with them! He even admitted they weren't fixed correctly but called me to pick them up! Stating he had 5 shoes to repair that day and was busy!!!! The second time I come to pick up my shoes they are worst! They completely messed up my shoes! They were suppose to just fix the back of the heel and damaged the entire shoe! They didn't apologize or try to make it right. I am very upset. DON'T LET THEM RUIN YOUR SHOES. Take before pictures to compare. I only wanted Louboutins soles done. Their shop must be unclean because the shoes had black spot when I saw them and compard. Lambskin shoes ruined. I took before pictures and got them back with a black accretions. They took it back to "help". Don't let them clean your shoes! Leather was darken (see picture.) They took the shoe for a week and could not fix the problem saying they tried their best. Real horrible service in terms of cleanliness. I hate leaving a negative review I'm a business owner myself. But the owner directly dealt with me and didn't care. Very disappointed. Very unprofessional. $1000 Tumi bag, has stains on it. Explain it to them when dropped off that was my main concern. Took $90 said come back in a week. I come back it's not ready and they want another $75. All they did was wipe it down. Don't you think I tried wiping it down myself before I brought it to you. I know a hustle when I see one, I been around retail my whole life. Not cool! Didn't expect that from here. Over $75 extra really lose a life time customer, not even a phone call to say you can't fix it, or we can it needs more work more time it might cost this much more. I broke the heel on my brand new boots:( So I needed to find a shoe repair shop. A friend of mind suggested Sam's Shoe Service and so did the worker at DSW. Well I went in and they were really busy, but they were pleasant. So I left my boot and prepaid because of the 10% discount if you pay up front. Who wants to be left with a bunch of repaired shoes and no payment? I had to wait 5 days for pick up which to me was a long wait, but it is a small shoe service that I've heard good things about. Unfortunately the workmanship was so-so. He attached the heel back on (I broke it clean off). But my black, sexy boot had white glue visible on the areas that he glued it back together at!!! Not hot at all. To top it off there were spots of glue/wax whatever he used on the actually boot. He takes it to the back and put black shoe polish on it (uneven at that). I took my boot (they don't do refunds) and proceeded to go home & do my fix up on it. Not worth a 5 day wait and $22. Yes he did put the heel back on sturdy, but the little things matter especially for a woman and her boots. read more

He came out shortly with my shoes; that were a completely different color and evidently ruined. I explained that wasn't the initial color of the shoes. The man helping me tried to blame the rain stains and justify why they looked the way they did post cleaning. The level of unprofessionalism and arrogance I received is intolerable. I did some research of shoe repair stores in the area after I wore my Christian Louboutin's once and pretty much destroyed the beautiful red sole. I wanted a trusted and reputable place to take such an expensive investment, and my research led me to Sam's Shoes. I live downtown Detroit but made the trip to Southfield to drop my shoes off in their care. I called ahead to ask a few questions and felt comfortable and confident that they would do great work. The turnaround time was short, the staff was friendly, and the price was beyond reasonable. I am so happy with the results and my shoes look like brand new!! We have been going to Sam's for years...when TEL-TWELVE was around. I have not had an issue with them. Recently, I took two pairs of sandals tried and true for a zipper replacement for one set and a new heel on the other set. I paid $43 for both. VERY out of range but because I TRUSTED them I felt it was worth the money. Shoes ready in two days. I picked them up on 8/3/12. I wear one pair of shoes this past weekend and the sole is coming completely apart. Wore the other pair to work on Tuesday and the leather back of the sandal is completely undone. I wore them from the parking lot to my building. I call SAM and speak with him telling him what happens, he tells me to bring them in. The younger guy in the back is at the front. I tell him that my shoes have issues that were never there when I dropped them off and they need to be repaired due to their workmanship. he even began to peel the sole of the shoe back more and made the slight sole gapping worse. What do I get? He says we didn't do that and if you want me to fix them it will be $15 each. So let me get this right. My sandals that I love are ruined due to poor workmanship. Then you will give me a "deal" for $30 more. SOoin total $73 for shoes. I don't think so. I wont be able to continue to support them because a business should stand behind their work. Nothing upsets me more than finding a chewed up heel, unable to endure the wear and tear of doing something crazy: walking around a parking lot of street in Farmington Hills, Bloomfield, Midtown. My favourite knee high boots were seeing a lot of care over the winter, so I dropped by Sam's Shoe Service to remedy the problem. My other shoe replacement service of choice, DSW, didn't have anything on a good pair of boots that needed a bit of loving care. Polish, blacking, smoothing: a good shoe repairer can use his little bag of tricks to make boots look good as or better than new. I was quoted a reasonable price and committed to getting my everyday babies back in fine condition. The wait wasn't anything unusual, but the boots looked just so-so. I got my heels back black, but the polish must not have set correctly. I got greyish streaks on my fingers for two or three days after having them back, and the heel's core was visible through the newly applied polish when gently nicked. I could have done this myself without too much fuss. Unfortunately, Sam's does not sell leather shoes or goods for ladies. The discounted prices would be nice. read more

I took my shoes to Sam's for the LAST TIME on 9-22-12. I had shoes that had gotten a bit too loose, because I'd lost a bit of weight. So I asked if he could make them a few inches tighter, and he said yes. All he did was take some awful looking brown cardboard thing and put them inside my shoes. He glues them, I'm assuming, and charged me $15 per pair of shoes to do this! (He told me it was a good deal because it's usually $20). Needless to say, that piece of crap came apart the first time I wore it and it burned the balls of my feet. I could've bought DR. Scholl's inserts for $5 and called it a day. THEY RUIN YOUR SHOES. If you read the negative reviews here, you can see they are rude and full of excuses (just like in the store). I took my favorite pair of boots here and they were ruined when I walked out. I was SO sad. After several years, I decided to try them again and chalked it up to a fluke/one bad experience. Went back there recently to have one little spot removed from a pair of suede shoes. Got them back and they were completely TRASHED! They had black shoe polish all over the lovely gray suede. The suede was all rough and discolored. Owner told me the leather was thin and that discoloration coming through is normal. WTF?! He showed no empathy whatsoever and like I said earlier--full of excuses. I went home and cleaned off the shoe polish with a clean rag and vinegar. Small thing, but speaks to their attention to detail (or lack thereof)--had junky white inventory stickers stuck in the bottom sole of each shoe covering up the brand name. Took me forever to get those stickers and the glue off the inside sole of my shoes. I would not recommend anyone to ever go here for quality shoe repair. WORST MISTAKE EVER!! Customer service is terrible. I do not recommend. Owner and employees have very nasty and rude attitudes. They will not refund you money or make what they messed up right. When I addressed my issue with them selling me used paint they told me they will not refund me or give me a new paint BECAUSE IT LOOKED USED I told them that's why I am bringing it back and he said he would never sell me anything like that but he did. I drove 45 minutes to return this paint so I was really upset. Not to mention I did call the day before and he told me to bring it in.
