I was walking by on New Year's Day and pleasantly surprised to find the establishment open. I was looking for a good quality steak to serve for me my wife and my father-in-law. I ended up with ribeye steaks to serve three. My wife warned me that they were expensive but in my opinion well worth it. I jumped online to see how to cook them and I ended up broiling them. This filled my house with smoke but again well worth the smoke alarm test. The owners of the market were very pleasant and nice to deal with. They cut the three ribeye steaks from a large piece of beef. They were very fresh and delicious. I will definitely be going back to purchase other items from this market. I think it is important to support local businesses like the Maplewood meat market. You just can't get quality food like this in a supermarket. read more

When I first moved to the area, it was under different ownership and I was never impressed with the quality as much as I wanted to support local. Now, it's always clean and fresh and the service is just as good if not better. The baked sweet breads are made by a different company though and sometimes stale. The produce is also not always too fresh. Cannot find fresher meat or more variety. Hands down beats McKinnon's. My friend even ordered a whole pig for a roast and loved it! read more

A SPECIAL FIND! I was searching for a fresh turkey for our Friendsgiving meal today. After about 6 calls I reached out to American Express to see if they could help me. Sara was diligent and was able to find me a location which was a little out of my way, however well worth the trip! Thanks Sara and American Express, you always come through! Maplewood Meat Market in Malden is easy to get to, has plenty of parking , is super friendly and squeaky clean. imagine all of this before you look around and see the beautiful array of meat, poultry, seafood and specialty foods they carry. There is a lot that is packed into the store from groceries to produce to frozen and fresh foods. The lady that worked behind the counter was full of pride and so kind. She proudly shared that she made the tamales and they were amazing! Maplewood Meat Market has many unique products that you also can't find elsewhere. I love trying new things and will definitely be back! This is a great place to get your fresh turkey! Saw customers coming in to sign up two weeks before Thanksgiving, they knew the drill - sign the book! They've been doing it up in Malden for about 65 years, and the guys behind the counter really know their stuff. Custom cuts, butchering on site, and encyclopaedic knowledge of all things carnivorian, sure - but how often do you find guys like this in the Commonwealth who are friendly as hell? Well, it looks like I'm done buying meat at the grocery store. Until one day ago, I'd never heard of this place, but I needed a specific size and cut of pork loin for a meal I was planning. I called to inquire and was told "Oh, we cut those to order, just drop by and we'll cut it fresh on the spot." Upon arrival, several options were discussed, a piece was selected and cut, and I was asked if I would be stuffing the loin (I was), upon which the butcher offered to butterfly the loin to accommodate stuffing (I accepted). He also provided me with a length of butcher's twine so that I could tie it back up when prepared. The two employees there were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable; not only that, but they listened to what I asked for and made appropriate recommendations that will make for a better meal, and I'll be just a bit smarter when I return for my next visit. read more

This place remains the epitomie of the old time butcher shop. Their steak tips are out of this world and their homemade Italian sausage has me driving 25 miles just to get it. I wish I still lived down the street and could stop in more often but when I go I stock up and fill the freezer. I call ahead and the guys are great about accommodating all of my requests. read more

First I will start off by saying that the owners (John and Steve) are friendly, knowledgeable and down to earth people. They make my life so much easier when it comes to feeding my family. I call in my order each day and it's ready for pick up by the time I get there. You can request your steaks, chicken, pork, cold cuts, etc. to be cut however you'd like. Pre-order your holiday turkey, prime rib or ham in advance so you get the exact weight you need to serve all your quests. They also carry your everyday needs of condiments, can goods, fresh bread, dairy, vegetables and amazing soups and chowders. It's so nice to have a neighborhood butcher with quality meat at your fingertips. Highly recommend a visit. read more

Do not shop anywhere else for your meats but this place, especially the "GROUND BEEF" which they grind fresh every day and sometimes several times per day. The owners are two brothers and very friendly and clean. They make their own chicken sausages as well as Italian sweet or hot sausages and are wonderful. They also have great racks of ribs, awesome pork and pork chops, cold cuts, breads, and some fruits and veggies. The freshly cut chicken cutlets are delicious as well as there marinated chicken/steak/and pork tips. NO MORE SUPERMARKET PACKAGED MEATS FOR ME! It is so worth going a bit out of your way for. All of their "Exotic" meats are frozen and EXTREMELY overpriced. They were out of rabbit on Friday, but they told me it was $9.99/lb. I ended up getting it at McKinnons for $3.99/lb!! If you want exotic meats just order it from one of the online places, youll pay a fair price and have it in a few days. These guys are out of everything, everything they carry is frozen, and they charge through the roof. They guy said he had a 5lb bucket of turtle, it was like $26.00/lb and i would have to buy the whole bucket. It woulda been $135.00 for the bucket, you can get a 5lb bucket of turtle online for like $99.00 a bucket......delivered! read more

I called and asked if they ground chicken and was told they do over a certain amount of LBs, I was going to order 5 lbs for the following weekend and was told it would be ready, I placed my order of 6lbs to be sure it would be plenty for my bbq, upon arrival the person behind the counter did not know what I was saying and to add insult to injury he said they don't even ground chicken to order, I just moved to the area and was having a large get together that afternoon, and had to run around to fill that part of my order, that being said I WOULD NOT RETURN NOR WOULD I RECCOMENTD THEM NOR GIVE THEM ANOTHER CHANCE!! This place was a great find! I stop in most nights after work and the two men behind the counter are always always helpful ( sometimes even helping me plan dinner and provide cooking instructions). Steaks are delicious and can be cut to order which I appreciate because I love a thick steak for the grill. Square hamburgers melt in your mouth. The cold cuts are great and much cheaper than stop and shop - the buff chick cold cuts are out of this world. I have yet to try a marinade that wasn't delicious. If you haven't tried this place yet I think its a worth while stop. I have a big order in for my son's graduation bbq next week and look forward to a delicious bbq. read more
