Today I was a first, and likely, last time customer. I ordered the Jalepeno burger with an order of regular fries and a regular coke. The burger was sweet, not spicy, decent quality on the actual smash patties, but the pepper jack tasted more like melted provalone and had zero flavor. I would have better off going with good old American cheese and some bacon ect. The original fries, that I had to pay extra for, as sides are not included, were absolutely disgusting. They tasted like I left out McDonalds fries for 2 days, reheated them, and tried to pass them off as a fresh product. For the first time in my life, I had to add salt to French fries. Non of this was the wait staffs fault. My tables waitress was exceptional, thus the 25% tip. Just wish the food was of the same caliber as the wait staff. read more

Wow...how is it we have driven by this place for years and never stopped. I think the street parking was the real turn off, only to find out there is a large parking lot behind. This is probably the best restaurant in Pekin without a doubt. Fantastic/huge menu with something for EVERYONE. We split a pizza and a salad and still took 2 pieces home...a great value. Fun place and our waitress was very knowledgeable. Cannot wait to try a few more things. Try the original crust pizza, as good as in Napoli! read more

Review Visit: April 4th, 2016 Mehquet's. The opening line to this post is very 'meh' but that's how I felt about Maquet's. A few people I know from Pekin raved about Maquet's. When something pops up on my radar via suggestions or otherwise, I add it to my list and eventually get around to checking it out. On a particular day where my girlfriend and I felt like traveling but not driving 1+ hours to experience something new, Pekin was the perfect place to explore. We ended up only doing a few things and Maquet's was our second of three stops. After parking in a small parking lot about half a block away, we entered and were greeted with probably the wood-iest bar I've ever been in. Top to bottom and wall to wall wood. It was well-worn wood so it had that worn in look that makes a place look snazzier rather than aged and old. In my opinion, at least. We snagged some seats at the bar and our bartender took our drink order while getting us menus. As we waited for our food, I couldn't stop staring at the giant fridge of beers behind the bar. There were a million different beers to pick from that even the pickiest beer drinker wouldn't have issues finding something to drink. After the beer fridge, my eyes wandered to the rest of the bar. The aesthetics of Maquet's was perfect. It had that coziness of a coffeehouse with a mix of drunken debauchery hidden in the walls, waiting for the fun of the night to get here. There was a big dining area behind us but since we were at the bar, we didn't go wandering. While my eyes were taking in the scene, my girlfriend's eyes were on the food that was placed in front of us. I swiveled around and was shocked at the glorious meal placed in front of me. Now that's what food should look like when served (see below for what I ate). We both got the Rail House Burger as we both love the kick of BBQ. Sadly, the looks were better than the bites. Yes, sadly, the food wasn't all that great. For having bbq sauce, pepperjack cheese, haystack onions and other condiments, the burger lacked some pizzazz. So many potential ingredients for flavor and none of them worked. My shy girlfriend felt the same. All show and no wow. The french fries were decent though its hard to mess up those up. With all the praise that I heard about Maquet's, its such a shame that it turned out to be meh. As always, I am willing to give a place a second try. I feel like maybe we just had an off day as there is no way that burger should've been as plain tasting as it was. read more

We placed in a pickup order and my sandwich came like this... and there's absolutely no sauce on it??? It's a buffalo chicken sandwich, without any buffalo... I tried giving it a chance and added my own sauce... and the chicken is absolutely dry, the texture literally felt like powder. I let the waitress know and she took my dinner and had it remade. When I was given my new meal. It was a nice presentation and looked great. It was still not what I ordered. I ordered the 420 wrap as I wanted to try it ... sounded so bad for you but interesting. The wrap has chicken tenders, hamburger patty, cheese sticks, onion rings and Tator tots. I have a red meat allergy so I asked for the patty on the side. I mean if I pay for it, why not give to my husband to enjoy?! They absolutely would not put it on the side. I thought the waitress was joking... she was not. You can order without but CAN NOT put on the side. Since everything is cooked before it is put in a wrap I am not really sure the reasoning on this.... Still confusing to me. Besides that - it was delicious! Decent food when they aren't trying to rip you off. After saying that I wouldn't return after being served a half tenderloin ( ordered a whole) , returned to take mom for her birthday. Again ordered a whole tenderloin and got a half, manager stated sizes vary. I returned on principle and won't return. Sad that everything sux nowadays and cost way more than it should. We stopped for lunch and ordered the pork tenderloin. It was a huge sandwich as a meal and we had excellent service. The only thing is that when our server asked if we wanted a second bun (to split the sandwich) she did not tell us about the up charge. Not a deal breaker but it would have been nice to know that up front. Also I asked if the corn nuggets would be too much with the sweet potato fries. Our server encouraged us to order them but unless you were a giant the sandwich, basket of sweet potato fries and corn nuggets would be too much for lunch. Pros: - Good service - Nice ambiance. This is a 100 year old building and you can sit either inside or on a patio. There are TVs above the bar -The tenderloin (as recommended by my Central IL family) is top notch -The menu had a lot of good sandwich and entree choices Cons: - I kept hearing a bell ding and I could not figure out what it meant. The kitchen was calling servers for expediting meals - Parking seemed a little iffy. I did not feel comfortable parking in the lot of the towers across the street, but I saw other people doing it. I circled and found street parking Maybe: -We took the only table available during the late lunch hour. After we were sitting there awhile I noticed a small sign that said that we might have to move if they needed to change a keg in the basement. I looked behind us and there was a trap door that they use to get to the basement (and the kegs.) If the trap door was opened it would have rested on our table. Stopped in here to celebrate my moms birthday and did not disappoint. Was highly recommended by my brother. Loved the vibe in here too. We started with some nachos and garlic knots. The nachos were probably some of the best nachos I've ever had. The cheese sauce was OUTSTANDING. Garlic knots were okay. I ordered a calzone, a little disappointed because it wasn't Top notch. The last time I was in there the food was great the service was great I couldn't find anything to complain about even if I wanted to. I really tried hard to make us happy. But it has been a while since I've been in there so I guess I'm going to have to fix that now that I'm reminded. The only reason I'm short one star was because of parking on a gravel parking lot. But now they've got that fixed and the parking is great looks like. So next time we'll probably be better. read more

Their saving grace was our waitress Morgan. She was extremely sweet & very helpful. We waited for at least 50 mins. When we arrived I asked how long of a wait it was going to be. The hostess said 3 tables were ahead of us. This was a lie. 12 other parties were seated before us. Also they have this sign up front saying that smaller parties were normally seated first much like other restaurants do. I hope they take it down because we had 3 people in our party while they seated larger parties first. They also had chairs up front for people waiting to sit. They had the nerve to ask my grandmother for her chair (the oldest person in the entire restaurant). That seemed pretty disrespectful to me. She has neuropathy & has a difficult time standing for long periods of time. There was also no place to really stand that being said. Everyone was in the way of those who worked there. read more

This place is awesome! I could eat here multiple meals in a row and they've got enough variety to the menu to enjoy a new thing each time. Have loved the burgers in the past but tried pizza this visit. The Rail House Pizza was delicious even if I mispoke when ordering and thought I'd get the Roundhouse Pizza.
