I made a trip to visit my mom for the day. Jumped on Yelp to see what would be suggested. Maquet's Rail House was first on the list. My mom said she had been there before was good. Now my mom and I have had a history of having different perspectives when it comes to good. So her endorsement alone is not enough for me to know I'm walking into an excellent dining experience. BUT the tenderloin picture was enough to get me in the door. I feels like either you get normal sized tenderloin sandwich that is thick and juicy or you get one that is large but mostly dry from being pounded out. You will not have that issue at the Rail House. I was impressed that the tenderloin was large and thick (that sounds dirty). Most of the large tenderloins I have are very thin. There's not a lot of meat distributed throughout so it becomes dry. I was not able to finish my sandwich. I was only able to get through the meat outside the bun. This is a rare situation. My only complaint is the fries could have been cooked longer. I enjoy my fries crispy. Next time I'm going to request they cook them a little longer. Oh...we had some cheese curds as appetizer. Those were delicious. I do not consume ranch indiscriminately. However, their ranch was really awesome. I'll definitely being making a return visit because I want to try the tenderloin horseshoe. read more

This was a great find on the way home from visiting family in Illinois. I got my normal drink of choice when I try a new place, Bloody Mary. Was not disappointed at all... I had 2. :) We started with the small haystack (onions) and they weren't to bad. Kind of bland. I had the philly steak as a wrap and I got a side of cheese sauce, it was amazing!! My husband got the pork chop sandwich and only made it through half. He said it was good, not dry at all. Neither of us got a side since we had the haystack. Maquet's Rail House wants to be something it will never be. My wife and I constantly found the food to be underwhelming or average for its reputation, no matter what we got. The atmosphere is lively, but it's always very busy and sometimes too loud. Service felt appropriate for how busy it was whenever we went, and the beer selection is fine, but for a place claiming to be more craft it never really got over the hump for us. It's also hard to get to because of the road layout in downtown Pekin. Might be worth a trip once or twice from the rest of the Peoria metro to see if it's more to your liking, but for us we've gotten our fill and have moved on. read more

We got seated and waited for 15 mins at the table and was never even acknowledged by a waiter/waitress so ended up getting up and leaving. I understand if you are busy but at least come by and tell us or even acknowledge that we are there. read more

What a great place. It is tucked away in an part of town with a lot of character. Will come back when it is warm out as they have a large patio. The rail house burger (subbed chicken for the patty) was delicious. The sweet corn nugget appetizer is unique. Maple syrup comes with as a dipping sauce which is a perfect combination. Definitely need to try it out when we can have an adult beverage. Service was good as well. The servers take your order on small tablets and process your payment quickly. read more

Giving only 3 stars because of the waiter otherwise am very satisfied. Food was great but waiter was less than desirable. Our server was Alexander T and not once did he check on us, ask if food was ok, ask if we wanted another cocktail, walked by and flipped the check on our table. Couldn't belive it! When I paid never a thank you, how was everything, nothing. He is doing this establishment no favors whatsoever. So, wow, editing my review as upon walking out of restaurant, the same waiter, Alexander, is walking out of bar area with two hands full of beer and nearly walls into me spilling beer on me and continued on. NEVER once said excuse me, apologizing...I immediately went to find owner who was unfortunately in his office and stated my concerns to the bartender. Didn't think it could get any worse, little did I know til I was walking out. Please reconsider your staff. The young man with glass who seated us truly made up for all these poor incidents. They didn't have a manager on duty tonight, so the young staff that was working didn't have direction on how to handle the situation. I've been there in the past and the food is good, but not worth waiting that long only to leave at eat elsewhere. Maybe Saturday night isn't the night to not have a manager on duty. read more

Great service. after a brief wait, got a good table. My friends say that the pizza, baked potatoe and burgers are great so i went for the American Burger. It as one of the best hamburgers ever. It was better than 5 guys; cheaper; fresh made; and too big for one person. fries were great also. Can't wait to do it again and try something else. the staff was great. We usually come here once a week or every other. The Ruben sandwich is great and one of the best around the area. The Rail house Sub is legit one of my favorite sandwiches to order along with the tater tots! Being from New England I'm super spoiled with pizza and sub places and when moving to Illinois 3.5 years ago it's a different type of pizza here.. Small Squares at most places on a thin crust. I'm used to traditional hand tossed and pie cut pizzas.The pizza at the Rail house is the closest to NY and New England style pizza I've had in 3 years and it's a Nice reminder of home. It's one size which is about a medium and You can make your own or choose from a great line up of specialty pizzas. I'm not a big drinker but they always seem to have a nice selection of beers on tap as well. And for the sports fans there is always plenty of TV's and games going on to please everyone! Let's talk about the Boneless wings... Easily some of the best boneless wings I have ever had! Lightly battered and usually HUGE with great portions and the Honey Sriracha and Cajun dry rub flavors are killer! Lastly the staff here is some of the best around and I look forward to the regular servers each time we go in for lunch. We've been there five times when in the area and haven't been disappointed with any of the food selections. It does get busy and but the cooks seem to handle the orders well. Our wait staff has always been friendly and attentive to drinks and other requests. The selection of beers on tap are good. The location is tight by the RR tracks, hence the name, and hearing/seeing the trains go by is cool in my opinion. It is a bar and grill and not your high affluent fancy schmanzy restaurant so if that's your style, look elsewhere. read more

Had a large DELICIOUS chili cheese baked potato. So good! This is a great find in a little town.

The food was very good. We shared a tenderloin and were surprised it was a thicker meat than expected on a sandwich so large! The best we've had so far in the area. The fried mushrooms were also good, and the coffee was exceptional. A very good flavor and HOT! Keep buying that brand of coffee! A negative: we went at noon on a workday. We were seated in the small back room with a fiberglass roof. We were very happy because it had big windows and sunlight. But when many men came in for lunch, we couldn't hear each other for a decent conversation. They need to put in some sound absorption so when 14 men are in a room with a low ceiling, you can still talk. That was no problem in the big room with the high ceiling. read more

Excellent spot in Pekin Illinois! Here for softball tournaments on a regular basis. Stopped in for dinner and couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. Went here for lunch yesterday and had a great experience. It is nice to finally have a good place to eat in Pekin. We ordered the onion rings and cheese curds to share. The onion rings were amazing! They were thin and crispy! The cheese curds were a bit of a disappointment, but I won't hold t against them. I've been living in Wisconsin and I'm use to fresh cheese curds. You could tell these were frozen and pre-battered. The cheese burgers are large, juicy, simply phenomenal! The pork tenderloin is bigger than the plates they are served on and are nice and thin!
