I was driving from Redding to Folsom and in Woodland my car started steaming. I pulled it off the highway and popped the hood and saw fluid all over the engine compartment and the radiator cap 1/2 off. It was a Friday afternoon. I was in a complete panic. I got a tow and was finding ANY shop in Woodland that was open on a Saturday. I saw MAR's website and it looked very professional. I gave it a shot. I had my car left out front. I was on my way to my Uncles funeral on Friday night and having my car breakdown sent my emotions through the roof As MAR opened up Marco and his crew pushed my car in and said they for sure needed to replace the radiator. They said the engine sounded good but they wanted to do a test on it. I left to go to the funeral and checked in every few hours as MAR was only open 8-12 on Saturday. My son had packed up his truck to move to Spokane from Burbank, Ca. Well he broke down in Woodland, he blew a head gasket. My son was able to do the full engine overhaul in the O'Reilly parking lot but couldn't quite figure out why the engine was still running so rough. Mar was one of the few shops in the area open on sat. My son limped his truck there at nearly closing time. The guy there had to finish up a car he was working on, but he stayed quite a while after closing time. Avoid bringing your car to this shop! The workers here are very unprofessional and incompetent (or simply those who don't care). It seems to me that all the 5 star ratings Mar Auto Repair has received on Yelp are either fake or from friends and families. I'm just very disappointed with these guys after getting my car tune-up service done here today, to say the least. I brought my car here 5 days ago to get my 100K tune-up service done. I even made an extra effort to print out the pages from my car's owner manual for this shop to follow. For the tune-up, I asked these people to do the following work: change the transmission fluid, replace the spark plugs, and replace the fuel filter. The manual specifically stated that I need to complete these services at 100K (and my car odometer reading was at 128K). Despite having handed the shop my car manufacturer's detailed maintenance guideline, I found out a few days later after I got my car back that Mar Auto Repair replaced neither the spark plugs nor the fuel filter! I asked them why they neglected to carry out these tasks and they simply said that the car parts appeared to be working fine. Their approach and attitude towards car maintenance was wholly unacceptable! Proactive maintenance is about protecting your car from potential future problems. It is well known that certain car components need to be replaced at regular intervals due to age even if they are still functional at the time of inspection. I spent my valuable time bringing my car to their shop and they neglected to do the very tasks requested of them! At the very least, they should have had the courtesy to call and tell me that the parts look fine and ask me if I would still want to replace them (which I would have said yes since I had emphasized at the very beginning that I wanted these parts replaced because of the car's age). It seems to me that the people working at Mar Auto Repair are either incredibly lazy, irresponsible or just don't care enough about their customers and their safety. They failed to carry out 2 of the 3 key tasks that are essential for a 100k tune-up service. This deserves an F grade! To add insult to injury, I had to wait 50 minutes at their shop before I could pick up my car because they decided to close early despite I had called them earlier in the morning to schedule a pick up time at 1:30pm. I complained to the owner about having had to wait 50 minutes and asked him to give me some discount because of the inconvenience he caused but he flatly refused to do so. To his credit, after some moment of earnest reflection, he decided to give me a $13 discount but did so only because he wanted me to pay with cash rather than with my credit card. I'm guessing that the credit card transaction fee would have been more than $13 so he would still stand to benefit from my cash transaction. In short, Mar Auto Repair would do the minimal amount of work on your car just so that they can get paid and get your car out of their shop quickly. Please think twice before coming here! You may spend a bit more at a reputable shop, but you would not have to worry that necessary repairs are skipped because the people who work here feel lazy or don't feel like working that day. Do not risk your safety with Mar Auto Repair. It is not worth it! Avoid this shop like a plaque. read more

Brought my car in for a brake job. Make a long story short they failed to put the top caliper bolt in the right front tire. In doing so the caliper made a half inch groove on the inside of my rim. luckily I didn't crash with my infant son in the car. Don't go here unless you want half a** work done on your car. read more
