Was hoping I'd get a survey to fill out after my service but I didn't receive one so I'll leave my good praises here! I was helped by Bob and the wonderful team here at the Davis AAA. I am a first time car owner and am very lacking in knowledge about cars and what I need to do when it comes to fixing them. Despite a multitude of issues with my car, Bob was super patient with me and took time explaining the process and his recommendations for my vehicle. He made it clear that helping me was a priority which I really appreciated. Bob made me feel really valued as a customer and reassured me that my own choices were the most important (even if my choice was stupid haha). Overall, super friendly and helped mitigate the stress from my car not being functional. Thank you to Bob!! Such friendly and wonderful service. He really knows his stuff. had a negative experience with AAA Davis Auto Repair, a facility or mechanic shop recommended to me by AAA. Following an engine failure, the shop held my vehicle for one week. The initial invoice was $957.92, which included $310.62 for an aftermarket single fuel injector and $647.30 for labor. When I opted to provide genuine fuel injector myself, the shop issued a new invoice for $720.00, which added a $72.70 charge for "miscellaneous parts" not present in the original invoice. The vehicle failed again just four days only after the repairs was done and the car has the exact same symptoms, including a persistent burning smell and vibration. Despite my sending several emails to ask for assistance, the shop ignored my correspondence until I involved AAA Member Customer Service. Even then, the shop management argued with me allot and refused to honor the warranty or take accountability, requesting that I seek a third party report despite the vehicle still have the same problem since fourth day after their repairs were done and being within their warranty period. so they refused to take a look on it and wanted me to pay other diagnosis fee because they failed to diagnose and resolve the problem. AAA Davis Auto Repair misdiagnosed the vehicle and failed to address the root cause of the engine failure. This situation has compromised my family's safety and resulted in a significant waste of time and money. I am currently in an emergency situation and have found no cooperation from AAA Davis auto repair or from customer service and their management. I should not be required to seek another mechanic for a problem that is covered under my existing warranty with this mechanic shop Really it is a waste of time and money and no any accountability or understanding their warranty just on paper...not recommended. read more

The service performed was an oil change and that was fine nothing wrong there. My bad review is coming from the person sitting down at the front desk. I did not appreciate his smart a** responses to me using a coupon nor his unwillingness to just apply for the coupon anyone can look up online. No he would rather just stare at me as I try to look up this coupon. I had bad cell service and asked if they had wifi and still continues to watch me struggle on my phone. I appreciate he did try to help me with the wifi but his attitude was just off putting. And I wouldn't review something like this but after another girl came in after me for an oil change too, he didn't give her any problems about applying a coupon. He didn't say anything to make her feel bad for saving ".50 cents" or have her look it up on her own. I did not like his smart a** attitude and he needs to keep his comments to himself. Several visits for routine maintenance and a few diagnostic check ups. It's always a professional experience, with knowledgeable mechanics and a much better value than taking it to a dealership. Also worth noting, I drive a GMC 3500 cutaway which is an awkward vehicle to work on and they took it on no problem. Great crew! read more

Hey just wanted to offer an update on my months long dispute with inept manager Jason at AAA Davis Auto repair. I did finally receive my $188 back but no apology, and that was only after submitting a formal complaint with AAA auto club. It took a dozen follow up phone calls and an unsuccessful visit back to their shop to refund the transaction only to have to wait 3 additional weeks for them to figure out how to use their credit card machine to issue a credit .... obviously they don't know how because they only know how to take money! btw I did respond to "Amy" as she responded to initial review and I never heard back. If you are in Davis and need a mechanic... go to Sacramento! This shop cannot be trusted and they will gouge you. While my daughter was waiting for hours in their waiting room she witnessed an man asking if he could split the cost of the repair of his elderly mother's car over multiple credit cards bc he had no idea his bill would be over $3000. Aaron, Russ, Amy (?) and Jason Hoffman ... mechanics and management all demonstrated little to no professionalism or intelligence. read more

My car's air conditioning system wasn't cooling enough. I was scheduled to bring it in to another shop last autumn but had to cancel due to time conflict. I was going to reschedule then but my husband suggested I wait until I needed the A/C again. Well, we were invited to a 4th of July party in Sacramento and I dreaded driving out there in temperatures forecast to run in the high 100's. I called the other shop on Monday, July 1st. They couldn't take my car until the 8th. I then called AAA and they had an opening for me on July 3rd. Everyone in the front office was very personable when I dropped off my car. They explained options and possible setbacks due to the age of my car. I authorized them to proceed. I was called about an hour later because their estimate ended up being low because the more expensive freon would be needed. I authorized the new amount. At 2 p.m. I received a call that my car was ready for pickup. Again, everyone in the front office was very personable and more than one chimed in to explain why my A/C had not been working well. My car usually takes close to 2 pounds of freon and there was only 6 ounces in the system. Due to that, it could only crank out 71 degrees of coolness. After being recharged, it got down to 41 degrees. My car is now nice and cold (too cold for me) and my husband and I were nice and comfortable in our drive to the party in the afternoon of the 4th, temperature readings outside were 109. The total price was a bit more than expected, but I was willing to pay to have a comfortable car again. read more

They didn't repair my Tesla correctly and charged me 5500 to fix the axle. I brought the car back to show them that it isn't sounding right and they "said" they checked it and that everything is fine. I proceeded to drive around for weeks with the car still making a concerning noise. I finally took it into Tesla and they figured out the problem immediately, and said whoever repaired this before them did a horrible job. They decided to only give me $500 back on the repair. I've never felt more cheated in my life from an auto repair shop. STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS!!! read more

This review is for my mother. She had a flat tire in her Prius yesterday, was able to limp to AAA. This was around 4:30pm, and apparently most or all of the technicians had gone home for the day. At first, AAA staff suggested my mother go to Goodyear, but my mother was afraid to drive on the flat tire any further (tire was nearly flat at that point). An AAA employee named Russ then put on the spare tire for my mother, even though he was working on another car. AAA also did not charge my mother for putting the spare on. A sincere THANK YOU to AAA and to Russ. My mother is mentally sharp but getting older, and she gets nervous driving even on four good tires. read more

This place used to be called Hoffman automotive and the same employees still work there. I've taken my car in dour separate times and each time have been treated honestly and friendly. I feel pretty comfortable with the shop and it does provide a 10% discount on labor with a AAA card. Each time I've been there they've sent me a link with all the repairs they recommend plus anything else that they found. I click on the link and I can review everything before I talk to him on the phone. Each time I've called they've honestly told me what they think is urgent and what is not. You can tell a lot about the honesty of a shop by the repairs they tell you you don't need to make. read more

Had excellent - actually beyond excellent - service from AAA Davis Auto Repair Center in Davis, California for my 1999 Honda Civic. The car's engine was stalling when stopped at stop signs or lights, so was towed to the center for repair. We received a cost estimate and time frame for them to diagnose the problem. They provided photographs of the problem area in the car, which was helpful in understanding what was to be done. The work was completed, and the service people drove the car a good distance to make sure it didn't stall again. They returned the car for us to drive over the weekend to check whether it might stall again. It didn't. Since we were somewhat negligent in having normal service work done, we asked that the center provide a list of what needed to be done. That list work priorities was provided. We had the center do that work, which was excellent as well. read more

I've brought my SUV to AAA Davis for several tune ups now and have been very pleased with their service. Prior to my last check, I got an email stating they had not seen my vehicle in awhile. This was a great reminder and I loved that they sent a link to book an appt on line. I also appreciate that they offer drop off and pick up for those times when I can't arrange a ride when dropping off and/or picking up. On the most recent visit, they told me that expensive repair was needed. They were happy to explain the problem and pricing and assured me it was needed but not urgent. I really valued the information, since I will need to save up to get that work done. I definitely recommend AAA Davis Service Center. I called this AAA auto repair location today to get an oil change since my car's low engine oil light came on unexpectedly while I was in town visiting friends. I called at 4:50 PM today and nobody answered the first time I called. I found this odd considering they closed in over half an hour from then at 5:30 PM. So, I called again and an older gentleman picked up sounding disgruntled. I was kind of surprised because every other experience with AAA has been so kind. I explained my situation of my dashboard light coming and I inquired about any openings for an oil change either tonight or tomorrow since that's how long I'll be in town. The man then proceeded to mansplain to me that "this is an 'old school shop'", that their technicians leave at 3 PM, and made me feel stupid for calling because "they get booked out *at least* a week in advance". I was frankly shocked by his level of disdain for being the least bit helpful, especially considering I'm a AAA member and AAA is so renowned for their customer service. All I did was ask if there was any availability for an *oil change* because I don't want my car to overheat on me while driving, and then I was met with sass and a piss-poor attitude. read more

Bob helped me most recently with getting my mom's car back in shape and the most significant part of my experienc, even beyond his knowledge and professionalism, was his familiarity with my history there and the appreciation for my loyalty. Having to deal with a mechanic in any case is typically a stressful situation in and of itself; but dealing with Russ and Bob made this experience an absolute pleasure. this shop is a complete rip off. expect to pay exorbitant prices for auto repair. diagnostic tests will run you around $200 just for them to tell you they didn't find any issues. auto engine problems won't actually be fixed. even the tire pressure wasn't added. I had to go to a gas station and put air in every tire as they were all noticeably under inflated. read more

Very nice people but the prices are unreal. I got a quote to have my spark plugs changed in my car. They quoted $750 (including AAA discount). I called two different dealerships and they were both $350 and $390. I then called another local shop in Davis and they quoted me $250. I finally found Goodyear and they offered it for $235. I can see why the dealership would charge more due to their labor costs and OEM parts, but this place is by far double the costs! I even had them double check the quote and they said it was correct. It's unfortunate that I can't take my car here since they charge 2-3 times what other places want. read more

Laz was incredibly polite and helped me to understand what needed to be done, how long it would take and what I should prioritize and look out for moving forward. Tom my technician sat down with me and explained step by step what needed to be done and why. He did excellent work. My estimate was right on the money. They don't say it will take an hour labor than charge you for three like almost every other auto shop. After your visit you even get a report card for your car so you know what needs to be taken care of moving forward. read more

I decided to try AAA Davis Auto Repair because I had seen pretty good reviews. The battery on my car needed replaced and that seemed a pretty simple test for price and service. Both stank. First, Aaron at the front desk told me they would test the battery and if that wasn't the problem they would refund the cost of the test and put in the new battery. The estimate was $159. Next thing I know, he sends me an email with a list of 3 must do items: Battery, spark plugs and cabin air filter; and a long list of should dos. including shock absorbers and struts, belts, hoses, you name it because of the age of the car (2010). Pretty scary and upsetting. I ask them to do the must dos forgetting I just changed the oil so the cabin air filter probably did not need changing. They did not send me an estimate of costs and I forgot to ask and just guessed the cost would be around $600. HA! The bill was $1,113.63! $276.82 for the battery (not outrageous but higher than the original estimate they gave me), $113.16 for the air filter (a bit high), and $735.75 for the spark plugs. That was the killer. Kelly Blue Book estimates the cost of replacing spark plugs on a 2010 RAV4 to be between $246-398, so they charged me almost double what it should have been. I will never go back and I do not recommend them. I'm sticking with Center City. read more

I had just gotten out of the doctor's office and had trouble starting my car. I've typically owned older cars with a reputation for durability. The yellow van guy ran his checks and verified my suspicion that the starter was no longer working. I knew that a dealer for the car's marque was fairly close by but I didnt want to go there. I asked him if there was a repair facility I could go to that wasn't part of a dealership, and he recommended AAA's auto repair center in Davis. A flatbed came for my car and me. There Hoffmann's staff said they'd be able to take care of the problem. I live in West Sacramento and they arranged a Lyft ride for me to my home. The following workday, the starter was replaced and my car was repaired ahead of schedule. I would recommend this place for any service needed by your car, routine or major. read more
