Amazing prices on wine and cooking essentials! Romona and her husband are very personable and friendly, with excellent recommendations on products. They also have a selection of honey that looks and tastes wonderful, one local and one from Utah, honey is really expensive everywhere usually but the prices were incredibly low for the amount and quality of honey. My husband and I always go by the A-1 Deli next door and never even knew this amazing place was here til recently, do yourself a favor and check this place out, it's a total hidden gem-2 bottles of wine for $7?! You will not be disappointed!

Front entrance. To buy wine speak to someone in the back, they have to open the office

This place is so old San Pedro. Family owned and ran, they have everything you could need to make your own wine at home. All the supplies from yeast to bottling and corking. Plus they also sell extremely good wine (usually from Napa) fat 2 for $7. So much better than two buck chuck. If you're into winemaking or drinking wine, this is the spot!

Went to Marabella Vineyard and purchased their special and was so impressed by the assorted wines and customer service! Definitely making this our weekly wine stop!

You'd never know it was here: 8th St, San Pedro

You can tell this team takes pride in what they do. The wine tasting was beautifully curated, and the staff did such a great job walking us through each pour, sharing helpful details, and making the whole experience feel relaxed but still elevated. Every question we had was answered with ease, and the pacing was spot-on. Dinner was just as impressive. Our table shared the chicken, steak, and salmon, and every single dish was outstanding. The chicken was flavorful and perfectly cooked, the steak was tender and rich, and the salmon was beautifully prepared--fresh, delicate, and full of flavor. Sharing everything family-style made it even better because we got to try a little of everything, and honestly, there wasn't a single miss. What really stood out, though, was the hospitality. We felt genuinely taken care of the entire evening, and it made the night feel special. This is the kind of service and dining experience that makes you want to come back immediately--and bring friends. Highly recommend for a wine tasting, date night, or special occasion. We'll absolutely be back.

They not only serve sake but beer as well & sold Japanese snacks. We sat at the bar & did a sake tasting. There were many different kinds of sake for purchase to take home if u choose to. We didn't purchase any at this time. Sadly, they were out of the 2 tastings that I was eying at but we were open minded to try anything good. We both like medium intensity with smooth & crisp taste but the ones we got were bold & strong esp without pairing food with it. It was still good though & I definitely felt tipsy at the end. The best part was all the sake brands we tasted weren't the usual ones you'll find at your average restaurant nor will you find it at the Asian market. Hubby ordered beer on the side & it was solid. I was hoping to meet the owner of the place to learn about sake but heard he was in Japan at the time. The server was young & nice but didn't explain in detail about each sake served. Luckily, the menu had descriptions about the different types which were helpful. Pricing wasn't cheap but not too expensive either. We do want to return back to try the ones we weren't able to last time. I highly recommend this place for sake lovers & to those that want to learn more in depth about sake!

If you've been following along you know that I recently spent a weekend judging for the Long Beach…read moreGrand Cru. It was an exciting experience I hope to have again. More interesting is that I attended the public event weeks later and had an opportunity to savor, instead of spit out, all of the medal-winning wine. This is my story: Right off the bat, I was thrilled with tastings from Stolpman Vineyards at Vintner Tom Stolpman's table and the VIP lounge, that unique experience was quickly followed by a few more wows with bubbles from Vina Sympatica; the discovery of Cholame Vineyard, another great winery to come out of San Miguel; having too much fun tasting wines with Bob Gold, of Bob Gold & Associates, and his sons; getting to try the Limoncello again (that we awarded a Gold medal too) and the Grappa-like "Hooch" from Red Soles Winery; the wonderful Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon from Vinemark Cellars; tasting a few fun red blends from Chronic Cellars with wine judge and South Coast Botanic Garden Board of Trustee Peter Olpe; getting to try three wines from my new favorite winery in Wisconsin, Elmaro Vineyard, that also included another Gold Medal winner; the wonderful food, dancing to the live band and breathtaking venue. It was one of those events that had such a large space for guests to wander that we never felt crowded or had to wait much at all for a taste of wine or a bite of food. There was plenty of seating too, though we rarely took advantage of it. (An event other event planners should look at.) The crowning achievement of the event was twofold. This was probably the first wine tasting that I've been to that had so many medal-winners from all over the U.S. as well as the areas we are more familiar with like Napa and Paso. If a wine from Wisconsin wowed me you can bet that there were plenty more that I loved (see more in this short YouTube video here) with Gold Medal winning wine from places like New York's Finger Lakes, Maryland, Uruguay, Mexico's Valle de Guadalupe, South America's El Dorado, Michigan, Rhode Island, Indiana, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Puget Sound...if I were a vintner I would definitely send my wine to the Long Beach Grand Cru for judging and public tasting. The second fold of my twofold statement is that the event is rooted in supporting poverty law and the attorneys that dedicate themselves to serving those less fortunate, The Legal Aid of Los Angeles. I hope that if you haven't attended this 2-decade long running event that you consider it in 2016. 2015 Medal Winners Sweepstakes winners: Sweepstakes Winner, Dessert: Red Soles Winery Red Soles Stillhouse NV Limoncello - New Brandy infused with lemons, Paso Robles.
