I got a little gas in my car and a $6 meal that included the angus,bacon,cheddar and jack burger, fries, and a polar pop. Generally speaking I hold gas station hot food to a fairly low standard. The Tornadoes were often pretty good, but the sandwiches anywhere were kind of meh. This was a GOOD burger! Of course the patty had that preserved taste to it, but that's just what to expect. The kicker was the hit from the cheddar jack cheese. That was SO GOOD! Everyone that works there is SO helpful and very nice. The only notes I have that are a bit more critical are that the donuts are a bit too sweet, and they've stopped carrying macadamia cookies. I'm dying for this place to expand, but they may be locked in. Keep an eye on the price tags. For a while, some candy bars were 3.79, but the shelf tag read 3.29. This place still gets 5 stars. A lot of businesses just look like crap because they are so busy. This place is as busy as any, and they always keep it looking good.

This one white female worker will only speak to whites and not blacks and will not sit there to make sure they pay for their stuff. Now I have been seeing this going on more than once and she is not the only one that is being racist.

Unfortunately, the independent car shop I used to go to sold their business to Valvoline...well, I went once to Valvoline and those guys were idiots. But I saw there's a Meineke in town and I need a oil change - sooner, rather than later. So, two days ago, I stopped by Meineke in Ellettsville in person to ask about their setup for an oil change...how much it cost, scheduling, etc. They told me that I could find coupons online. Today, I went to the Meineke website and subscribed to their emails and advertisements in order to receive a coupon for an oil change for $69.99. Then I called the local shop in Ellettsville to see if they were busy, and they were not. I told them I have a coupon and they said no problem. So I immediately drove to Meineke and I got in line. I waited for them to complete oil changes on two cars...then I pulled in. Just before they started, I showed the attendant the coupon and he said, "Oh, that's a corporate coupon. We don't take those here." "You can find a $10 coupon sometimes, and we take those." What? You're Meineke, but you don't take Meineke coupons? No. So I immediately shut it down. No oil change. I'm not going to reward a company that is trying to trick me. So gasoline costs $4/gallon. I spent money just by driving to your shop. I wasted both my money and my time - because of Meineke. Their attitude is that "It's not my fault because you don't know how our Meineke business is organized." Really? You immediately knew about the situation, no confusion on your part, and you never mentioned anything about the coupon problem until I was in the shop. BS.

I got home went to redeem it…read moreand it gave me an error saying the card wasn't activated. i looked at my receipt and it says the card was activated. i walk back to the circle k (now 4 hours after i bought it) tell this old guy at the counter and show him the receipt, the giftcard, and tell him the issue. he then tells me i need to give him ANOTHER $35 to activate the card. i told him and pointed to the receipt saying i did that already when i ORIGINALLY CAME IN TO BUY THE CARD. he then tells me he cant do anything and needs the money in order to activate the card THAT I ALREADY PAID FOR. he had the biggest attitude and told me it wasnt an issue for him and if i wanted anything to be done to come back later when the manager was here. DONT TRY BUYING GIFTCARDS HERE YOU WILL POTENTIALLY BE SCAMMED!

Now that I've shopped at other Sam's Clubs, in Indy and across the country, I've found that this location suffers in small but serious ways. The first one relates to groceries, where in comparison, this location has a far more limited selection. In its place is far more booze, do the near monopoly on liquor in the county by Big Red. Drinkers go here; much floor space is dedicated to beer/wine/liquor at the expense of food and grocery selections. Worse, on important items, they're not the cheapest around. Even Walmart, their cousin down the street, has better prices and selection in many areas-- without the need to buy in huge bulk quantities. The edge that Sam's has gets thinner and thinner. I'm hoping for a Costco to put price pressure on them. The people that work at Sam's are great. I have had great service. It's the layout and inventory limitations that make this location far less useful.

The people at the optical center know what they're doing and are friendly. I do like Costco better than Sam's. Costco prices are better. Sam's is getting to the point where you don't even need a club membership. No one checks. And if you do self checkout or scan&go then they really don't know who's membership you're using if you don't have your own.
