I'm crossing my fingers that Rockets doesn't slip too much. It's still a great place with items you…read morewon't find in many places. The hot food is becoming a bit of a disappointment. Being a member definitely has huge perks when it comes to shopping in the store and getting discounts on gas. I love the fountain and the ability to customize drink flavors. When I need my cherry vanilla Dr Pepper, this is the place to go! Hot food has been hit and miss. When they opened, the bosco sticks were PERFECT. They declined for a bit, but seem to be better again. Today I tried a bacon egg and cheese biscuit. The best part of that was that it seemed to be made of better ingredients. Unfortunately the biscuit was really dry, and most of the cheese had melted onto the wrapper, so what I wound up with was a dry bacon and egg biscuit sandwich, really. On my last 2 visits I haven't seen any pretzels in the pretzel machine, so I don't know if they still sell them or not. I still recommend this place. The folks that own it want it to be the best place around, and it pretty much is. My only other knock is the donut selection. All they offer are glazed donuts. No frosted, no custard... just glazed. Throw in a bit of a selection, and I'm definitely back more often.

Best gas station I've ever had. I would probably eat here over fast food any day. The food is made…read morewith fresh ingredients is always hot and ready to go. Got anywhere for breakfast. I like this Sam's Club and only this Sam's Club. The other Sam's I've been to are dirty and…read moreunorganized. The Bloomington one is actually really nice. The people at the optical center know what they're doing and are friendly. I do like Costco better than Sam's. Costco prices are better. Sam's is getting to the point where you don't even need a club membership. No one checks. And if you do self checkout or scan&go then they really don't know who's membership you're using if you don't have your own.

I like Sam's Club enough that I went ahead and paid for a year of membership. I don't need to buy…read moreeverything in bulk, but for some things, it's easier and in the long run I'll save some money. The prices are good. There's no doubt about that. If you have an idea of what some items cost in regular grocery stores, you'll have an idea what you're saving. My win for today was a 3 pack of Native deodorant. It's up to $12-13 at least. A 3 pack put them at just over $9 each. The scents may not all be my favorite, but I don't expect anyone to be sniffing around there anytime soon. The layout in here is ... not garbage... but pretty awful. There are promotional aisles in the middle of the store that run from side to side, but at the back they run front to back. It's very difficult to really make sure you hit every section, so it's easy to miss out on deals or even forget about items you came in for. I can't figure out if there is any rhyme or reason for the way items are placed in the promotional aisles. There is a nice selection of clothes for the most part, and the jeans are very reasonably priced. The food is great! I had a piece of pizza on a recent visit and I was genuinely surprised at how good it was. Doing everything on the scan and go is a huge time saver, but make sure all of your items are scanning. Sometimes it seems like it did, but it didn't. The app is good about reminding you. I'll definitely be back. Oh - if you're a fan of buffalo wings, either get the ones you have to chop and section yourself, or get the Sam's Club brand. Those have some seasoning on them, and they don't have the big weird fatty lumps that Tyson had.

I drove to Bloomington to save 30 cents a gallon on gas and eat out somewhere new. After filling…read moreup at Sam's, I saw this Rural King right next to Sam's. I didn't know it was there previously. Ace Hardware used to be my favorite store but RK has replaced them, primarily because in addition to selling most of what Ace has, RK has clothes, shoes, trailers, trailer hitches, cat food, chickens and a candy aisle. Plus they have a limited selection of guns and ammunition. Although I have never bought a gun from RK, I regularly buy ammunition from them because it is reasonably priced and available. I live rurally and this store fits my needs so much more. Even though their high end shirts (Ariat) were priced a full ten dollars more than the Martinsville and Greenwood locations, I found three Lincoln short sleeve shirts for $22 each. A helpful employee helped me sort out what LR and LT means for Lincoln clothing. These labels are on the hangers as well as the shirts themselves. Three cashier lanes were open plus Customer Service was handling a line of their own. There were about four customers in each line but they seemed to be moving okay. Regardless, RK opened up another lane while I was next to pay in my line. Good customer service here.

I was never rural king shopper, but someone told me about always getting their dog food there. I…read morehad always gotten mine somewhere else. I'm glad I checked out Rural King! Their selection is AMAZING! They have a ton of brands, and the prices are pretty good. They seem to have changed the dog treat selection, and I can no longer find my dogs favorite treat. The toys they offer are ok. From what I can tell, they don't offer any rawhide treats, only alternatives. If you ever try one, look at the list of ingredients. Sometimes there is stuff in there I just don't think a dog needs in their body. And one caveat, this review is primarily based on things I shop for. Some departments seemed like an afterthought. They have a big but expensive clothing section, and a nice selection of snacks. The bagged candy is a really good deal. I highly recommend the chocolate covered raisins! They have unique and hard to find items like jewelweed soap or balm for poison ivy and Lava soap. They always have something new in their seasonal area, and during the spring and summer have very cool things. The cat supply area is also very well stocked, and they have a nice selection of cat trees. I used to get a pretty simple one my cats always enjoyed. Overall, it's close to one stop shopping if you don't need food. I don't go there a lot, but I know I can count on them for what I want when I go.
