The company who'd replaced our roof didn't replace the flat part. They said it didn't need to be replaced. It was a rainy day when they collected the check. As soon as they were gone, our family room ceiling opened up and gallons of water poured in. The roofing company agreed to replace the flat roof but they did a sloppy job. I had someone on my roof who was screening off areas where critters could access our attic and they told me that flat roof needed to be replaced, sooner than later. I contacted several companies recommended by people on the Nextdoor app. One company came out to give me a quote but never returned my calls. Another company told me they were only doing roof replacements. I appreciated their honesty. I was very specific when I called roofing companies; I didn't need a new roof. One guy came out and told me he could contact my insurance company and tell them my roof had been damaged from a storm. We'd not had any damage to our roof from storms and that's bordering on insurance fraud. I decided to check out Yelp recommendations and saw that Easton had a lot of good reviews. When I called, they were very nice and told me they'd send someone out. The guys from Easton were there on time and they gave me an estimate. The estimate was very reasonable so I called to schedule the repair. The workers were very nice, professional, timely and they were there everyday until it was finished. They cleaned up after the repair so I wasn't finding random pieces of roofing material. Everyone, from the woman who answered the phone to the guys who did the repair was very nice and the whole process was seamless. Easton completed the repair and after years of checking ceilings, I can finally relax. Another contractor I'd used to remodel our house often needed access to the roof. I didn't ask him to check the flat roof but while he was up there, he wanted to check it out. He assured me they'd done a very good job and then asked for their info so he'd have the name of a good roofing company if one of his clients was looking to replace their roof. When an outstanding contractor is impressed with the work done by another company and asking for the company's info, that says a lot. If we have to replace our roof, we'll definitely use Easton and if anyone needs a roof replacement or repair, I highly recommend them. They've earned those 5 star reviews.

Turns out they are a new company and when Danny came out to quote us on the roof he was really friendly, answered all of our questions, and gave us a price we just couldn't beat. Before we settled the deal we had at least one more call with him and talked through even more questions that came up and felt assured they would do a great job on this project. It took them around 3.5 days to complete our roof and I will say it was a ton of work. Pulling wood shake off of a 3K sq. ft. home is not an easy feat, especially in early June humidity in KC. The crew got to work, and my husband and I got to know Roberto, who with Danny, are the two owners of 1A. Roberto is young, but an honest, kind, and talented roofer. He did a great job leading his team and getting us a solid and nice looking roof in a good amount of time. The thing that probably shocked me the most was just how quickly they were able to clean up and get our yard back to looking normal when they were done. A few months after it was completed, my wife and I were on the back deck and bats started flying past our heads. I went in and got my spotlight and sure enought, there was a gaping hole in the corner where the roof meets the wall and there was insulation on the roof and a bat staring out the hole at me. I immediately reached out to Luke, whom I had been dealing with throughout the entirety of the process and sent him a picture of the problem area. He informed me he is no longer with them but he reached out to the owner who offered to come out and put a piece of flashing there for $200. We already paid thousands of $ for a new roof and gutters and this should have been done correctly the first time. To offer to come finish the job they'd already been paid for and charge me for it was an insult. Not to mention he didn't even address the bat issue which was clearly a direct result of them not doing their job correctly. Once I heard the owner's response, it was clear to me how they do business so I just figured I'd deal with it on my own. After trying a couple things on my end, the issue persisted so we called a company to come take care of it. Well, it's costing me $1300. I reached back out and informed the owner of the situation and as expected, he's not taking responsibility so I'm out an additional $1300 PLUS I now have to remove and replace all the insulation in my attic. In addition to all that, The gutter guys showed up on a random day and time in a rust bucket truck and not in uniform which was really odd. I had no idea they were even coming that day and no one called prior to their arrival. The roofers also knocked out my internet. I work from home and it took almost a week to get it fixed. I'm a business owner myself so I don't take leaving negative reviews lightly but the lack of care and resolution to a problem that is so obvioulsly directly related to their crew's negligence, I felt implored to warn people about the way they treat customers after being paid in full. They were professional and did a good job, but over that winter, something happened and the leak started back up again the following spring. They came out and did more sealing around the furnace exhaust pipe and that fixed it. There was no extra charge for coming back. The second leak in my mobile home roof they were able to repair easily in a few minutes. We have had no other leaking in either spot. Ryan has been great to work with in figuring out the problems and what needed to be done. He has been honest and helpful and has explained the what's and why's to fix the problem areas. In the work they have done for me, Ryan shows he cares about doing jobs right, not just put a bandaid on the problem, especially when the problem was created by the things not put down right in the first place by someone else.

After recent storms I asked them to come back. It was a different salesman this time. Again, the roof was in good shape except a few shingles were raised because of wind. There is a $450 minimum glue them down. They said they would do the repair and check for any other damage while on the roof. When they came about 3 weeks later, the worker was on the roof less than 20 minutes. It didn't look to me that any repair had been done. My contact called me back 2 days later and said the worker didn't think there was any wind damage, but did a little caulking and nailed a few nails down to make it worth the minimum charge. I didn't think that was a lot of work for $450. He said he could lower the bill to $350. I said that still seemed high for less than 20 minutes work. He got a little huffy with me and said it was dangerous work and there was driving time involved. I suggested the worker should have called him and maybe do nothing. Then he insisted I tell him how much I thought the job was worth. I wasn't interested in playing that game. He finally asked if I thought it was worth $300? By that time I was done with him and the company. I mailed my check and addressed the envelope to the owner of the company, hoping I might get some further explanation about what happened. I don't usually do negative reviews, but when my check cleared 3 days later and I never heard from the owner, I decided I would let other people know. I will not use this company in the future.

If this company is not willing to take responsibility for $2,000 worth of damage to a house that their driver clearly did then I can't imagine that they would stand behind their other work.
