Wow! The biggest ripoff in the island. Overpriced and undervalued. The service started great but they were not busy, as soon as more guest came, the service became slow and forgetful. Missing items we requested and having to ask a few times. The place looks nice and open with two levels. They are supposedly a "market" but it's a restaurant and a pier stop. People with their boast can come in. They have showers as well. We order the grouper (fish) and 1 dozen of oysters on the half shell. The fish came with the choice of rice, pasta or steamed vegetables. We decided to do the whole fish and get one filet out. I'm originally from an island so eating a whole fish is normal so I wanted to experience it again because back home where we live we don't have it. The fish was ok. It needed more flavor. Rice was hard and cold and not really tasty. The oysters were harder than usual. We ordered two of their Marbella sunrise (drinks) and they were good. Overall the food was NOT good or fresh. It made me sick! I got food poisoning. At the end of our trip in the island I got so sick I was puking on the beach and then walking the streets like a drunk person puking my guts out and not even with a buzz?! No thanks! My final advice? AVOID at all cost because what you will be missing here is your money from your wallet. Nothing special. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Awful. Definitely not worth $221.00. The stone crab was so tuff you couldn't eat it. My husband sent it back and they still charged him $21 for the 1 piece he tried to eat. After a long day of riding the golf carts on the island , we looked forward to a restaurant with fresh seafood. This place came up so we ventured in. The space itself is beautiful, there is a day club next door so there was music playing which I enjoyed. They sat our party of 7 quickly and took our drink orders. After that, drinks were brought and that was it. No one ver came to check on us for refills, to let us know about their menu, nothing. After 30 mins I told my family to get up and we left . I went to the front to pay the bill for the drinks and made it be known that for the amount of servers hanging out the service was absolutely abysmal. I will never go back. read more

Came here on the recommendation of a local. Upscale seafood ambience. My first flag should have been the lack of prices on their menu. I should have walked out, then. They claimed they didn't have a menu for drinks but offered the drinks. They also showed us a menu of appetizers and small dishes. Also, no prices listed. We asked beforehand how much this platter would cost and they stated a price that was roughly $100 for the platter. The plate turned out to be way more than that. We had the platter, one alcoholic drink, one refreshment and a guacamole appetizer for $200. We left a tip and the waiter seemed disappointed that I left only 10%. If he had been honest I would've left my customary 20% or more. What made it worse was the lobster was overcooked and the spicy shrimp (their specialty) was fried so much that it was tough like pork skins. I would not recommend this place, at all. read more

The langoustines in Marabella sauce is now in the top 10 of best dishes I've ever eaten in my entire life. Its not overly spicy but there is a little kick, usually I veer away but it was so good I couldn't not eat it. I devoured the entire plate while my lips tingled away. I usually don't write reviews but I think I should let people know what I had experience. Food was good, but make sure check your bill before you pay guys. We ordered some lobster and shrimps dishes and they said it came with the sides so we get 1 rice and 1 pasta for our sides but then when we received the bill we got charged like $700 peso for the sides. I personally love this spot for my kids they love playing in the beach area , which is very clear and nice. Beware of you go here, they run a scam on tourists. They have a big a-frame board that they use for a menu (no prices listed). If you're a tourist, they tell you they sell the expensive seafood by the kilo on one side of the board. If you're a local, they show you the cheap menu on the other side of the board. The waiter is there to get as much of your money as possible. They do have good service, good food and the ambiance is great. The tab and tip for 4 people was over $650. If you go, make sure you get the real menu side of the board and not the seafood by the kilo side. Would be a great place if they weren't so shady. read more

My fiancé brought me here for a late lunch during a visit to Isla Mujeres. It's on the south end of the island so a taxi or rented golf cart is your best bet. A little off the beaten path but don't be alarmed. The restaurant is well maintained and a wonderful service staff. This is a fish market format where you order your protein and then how you want it prepared. We had a beautiful 2.2 kg lobster that we had prepared three ways. A bisque, with pasta and finally a grilled half with butter and garlic. Flavors were out of this world. Well worth the 1150 pesos a KG. We had extremely helpful staff, with a lead server and three additional guys assisting our table of 6. It was AMAZING! We we're fully loaded with water, wine, and appetizers in no time flat. The menu is easy. It's a chalkboard with the fresh catches, and you pay by weight. We worked with our server to rattle off the fish we liked, and asked him to provide us the proper portions. We kicked off with tuna sashimi and seared tuna. For our entrees we shared coconut shrimp, garlic shrimp scampi with pasta, a fresh lobster from the tank, and a breadcrumb and butter crusted snapper filet. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and properly prepared. This restaurant is attached to a cute little beach club with day beds and picturesque hammocks on the beach which we didn't partake in but it's worth checking out if you like beach clubs. The restaurant is cute and a nice option for a pricier date night filled with fresh seafood, decent food and beautiful sunsets in the background. The pricing is based on the type of seafood ordered and amount used in each dish (in grams/kg). We received a pricing menu for the seafood on a chalkboard pulled up to the table and a separate menu with ideas of how to prepare them upon sitting. We were also told there is no set drinks menu when a server came to take our drink order. I ordered a spicy mezcal margarita and my friend ordered one with reposado tequila. Drinks were solid. We had little idea of how much everything would cost, not that paying would be an issue. It just rubs me the wrong way when a business is not transparent about pricing as we have no idea how many grams or kg of seafood it takes to prepare each dish and how much we would be charged for drinks since we tend to have a few with dinner. We ordered the lobster w/ marbella sauce (the sauce was the highlight of my meal), tuna tostada, yellowtail tiradito, seafood fried rice and there were complimetary chips w/ an array of sauces (ponzu/soy sauce, pickled red onion, and salsa dipping sauces). The food and drinks were fair+/good, I personally would not order the lobster again but at the moment, lobster sounded like a good idea. Unfortunately our experience was ruined by 2 things, the aggressive 6 flies that swarmed our food as soon as food landed on our table and the sudden 15 min thunderstorm that led to palapa water mixing into our food and drinks. Our server replaced our half-finished drinks diluted with rainwater with one fresh one after we asked. I appreciated that they were able to do that since the thunderstorm wasn't their fault, it did improve our dinner experience here a bit. Also, one of the employees helped us wave down a cab during the afterstorm drizzle which was very nice! Overall our dinner ran us about $140 or so which was on the higher end compared to all the other restaurants we tried on the island of similar or better quality. I'd recommend double-checking the weather before you go, asking for a fan to deter some of the flies or get food sent out one at a time. If you're looking for a bougee-er date night and for a nice ambiance, you can find that here. Also, no wifi, sorry digital nomads. read more

So this is more of a warning than a review. We visited Marbella on 4/24/23. The food was outstanding. Ambiance was beautiful. We had an amazing time. However, upon receiving the bill, we were charged $500 USD for crab legs! Yes, we should have asked what the market price was. Yes, this was an error on our part. We thought that market price would be similar to US market pricing for crab. NOT $500!!! Our server presented the bill in pesos. Upon doing the calculation and splitting it 3 ways, we asked if the tip was included. He said it was not and that he could run our cards a second time for the tip. We asked to see the bill again (which he had crumpled up and hid inside a folder). He reluctantly showed the bill that had the tip INCLUDED on it SCRATCHED OUT with black marker! We asked what was under the marker and he finally admitted it was the included tip! We left. Got to our golf cart only to find it had a flat tire. So we returned to the restaurant to have a cocktail while we waited for the tire to be repaired. When we returned, the manager seemed panicked that we were back. We decided to ask the waiter about the tip one last time, and he admitted to lying to get more money from us. The manager, knowing that her server had been caught, then offered to give us a portion of what we paid back because of the waiters deception. She gave us what we would have paid to the waiter for a tip back in pesos. All in all, and I'm only speculating, I truly believe this is an ongoing practice towards tourists at this restaurant, and everyone is in on it. Including management. BEWARE OF PRICING AND THOUROGHLY EXAMINE YOUR BILL!!!! Take out a calculator if you have to convert pesos to USD. I wish this had never happened because we would never go back, and it was amazing food and ambiance. I just can't support a restaurant that conducts business in such a way. read more

We arrived in the afternoon and were told they were fully committed to reservations -- no room for drinks? We didn't want to suspect anything fishy so I asked really nicely in Spanish. They took us up to the deck in patio furniture, which was fine for us. We ordered a round of drinks. After that we could never did our original server. We started asking someone, anyone for help. We ordered shrimp and mezcal that took an hour to arrive. How strange. And disappointing considering we paid 1200 pesos for a kilo of shrimp, maybe worth half that -- maybe. They came out so overcooked it was shocking. When it was time to pay they brought out the credit card machine. When I said I'd leave a 10% tip - 230 pesos - he was like you mean 270? Nope. I meant 230. But a couple USD more wasn't that serious. What is serious? I won't return. Save your pesos or dollars and hit one of the other many beach clubs. We went to this place very early in the day and made reservations and picked out our table. Then came that night for dinner. Our table was taken so they sat us at a giant table which was too big. Then we kept having to wait for our waiter to order several times. It was very hard to order because bit was all Spanish and the waiter couldn't speak English and couldn't help us. The 4 of us ordered a dish but only brought 3 . Then when we told them we were missing a meal they said the kitchen was closed and couldn't help us. Then brought the bill and it was outrageous. Almost $300 USD for a round of drinks and 3 dishes. They kept trying to explain the bill but we were completely getting ripped off. We paid it but we will NEVER go back. A tour guide recommended this place. They told us that you can choose your own seafood from the aquariums. (This is not the case and the restaurant is like any other place and you can't choose). The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of a Tecate convenience store. There is no sign on the outside of the building with the restaurant's name. We came in at 12pm. They took our temperatures, but did not provide hand sanitizers. The menu is only in Spanish and the waitress does not speak English. We sat there for 10+ minutes and no one came out to take our drink or lunch orders. We ended up leaving because we couldn't find the waitress. It was a waste of time coming out here. read more
