The service was awful and the food was mediocre. If yo you want water with service you must pay extra for it. The pina colada's were not very good. They tasted too much like simple frozen milk. After placing my order I was served incorrectly and never received everything I ordered. I didn't remind the waiter of what was missing from my order after tasting the mediocre food! These folks are AWESOME! We went deep sea fishing off Isla Mujeres, and caught a few Amberjacks and King Mackerels. The fish was cleaned off the boat, but the folks at Mocambo prepared and served the fish three ways, fried, blackened, and in garlic butter. They served chips and guacamole dip, fries, several sauces, tortillas, beans; it was soooo delicious! If you are on Isla Mujeres, we highly recommend stopping in. read more

Our family's famous lunch spot on the island! It was here, 8 years ago, where I discovered my love for ceviche. 8 years later, upon our return, it's still as good as I remember. During our 7 day trip here, we came to Mocambo for lunch 3 times always getting the shrimp ceviche. It's light, vibrant, and so fresh. There are guys cleaning fish right in front of you. I forgot to mention...you will he dining RIGHT on the water next to the pier where tons of boats dock. You can even be sitting in the sand if you'd like, which we always do. Beyond the ceviche, which is a must-get, we have never been disappointed by the food we get: the fajitas (chicken, steak, and shrimp, all are good), the guacamole, the tacos. We have never had a bad experience here. Whenever we come back to the island, we will definitely be coming back to Mocambo. read more

I ordered coconut shrimp and it was too dry from over deep frying. The Mayan fish was moist and very well presented. The guacamole did not have any salt in it and the seafood mix in the wine glass was not well seasoned . If not for great service, I'd give this place a 2 stars read more

Second time here and it didn't disappoint. Went back for a whole fried fish and it was DELICIOUS. PICKED OUT A LARGE HOG FISH and had them fry it whole. About $20 USD, and well worth it. My buddies got the ceviche and fried fish tacos, and they were really good as well. read more

One of our favorite places to eat on the island is a local co-op where all the seafood they serve is caught fresh that morning. They have the BEST garlic butter shrimp I have ever tasted, and serve it alongside flavorful rice and black beans. We raved and raved about it to our friends who were just as excited to go last night as we were. Until... We realized they now close early and weren't open for dinner, so we walked across the street to eat here instead since the menu was similar. The atmosphere is wonderful being smack on the beach and getting surrounded by ocean air as you dine. Island life is truly glorious. Sadly though, the rest of the meal wasn't as pleasant. All of us ordered the garlic shrimp except for my husband who had lobster. We also got guacamole for the table to start which is always delicious. Especially when paired with their mild and super spicy salsas. Phew!!! That will clear your sinuses. None of the seafood was the freshest, and instead of rice and beans each plate was served with only a side of mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes... And seafood. Gotta admit, was not the biggest fan of that combination. Their drinks were pricey as well at 87 pesos a pop and very little alcohol. We felt bad that it was our friends first dinner experience on the island, but at least the service was good. read more

The setting for this restaurant was incredible, dining with my toes in the powdery sand, watching boats come and go through the beautiful blue water. The service was decent and prices reasonable. Despite the nice presentation, the food was not that great. I started with a Mocambo cocktail which was a tasty mix of shrimp, octopus, oyster, and snail. For my entree, I had shrimp stuffed with cheese, wrapped with bacon, breaded, and fried. It sounded very intriguing but all I could taste was the overwhelming cheese flavor. My daughter ordered the crab in garlic sauce. She struggled to get the mushy crab meat out of the little shells. The bland meat didn't taste much like crab or garlic. read more

This place like every other place in Cancun is a bit overpriced but that's ok, it's expected. Our service here was wonderful, albeit slow but pleasant none the less. We've been here for lunch and dinner and each has it's perks. Lunch time offered a wonderful view of the beach but dinner time offered live entertainment as a woman serenaded our ear buds. As for the food, it's hard to critique this place as almost any Cancun restaurant we've been too. Everything is pretty delicious. Rarely did any entrée disappoint. Some might not have been the same style or as good as some places but they were pretty good none the less. Our favorites here were the octopus with garlic, tuna poke, and scallop ceviche. read more

Our group of ten friends ate here while visiting Isla Mujeres. We ordered lobster tacos, grilled seafood platter, ceviche, shrimp cocktail and bacon wrapped shrimp. The food and service were great. I ordered the calamari rings. They were giant. Huge. The biggest I have ever seen. They looked like onion rings. Cooked properly with light breading but there were tough chewy strands we had to pull off when cutting/eating them. I wish they would get on board with tarter sauce here as it came with that weird lime mayo everybody likes so much here on the island. The salsa for the chips and salsa was yellow...couldn't tell what it was...(garbanzo bean paste??) I ate it anyway and warmed up to it by the end of the meal. It was kind of a nice change from the standard red salsa to be had everywhere else on the island but not very flavorful. I opted for water as I asked for a Coke and the waiter asked if Pepsi was ok. Dad had the seafood chowder and it was delightful. He also really liked his margarita. I admittedly helped him finish the seafood chowder. Tomato based. 7 oz of seafood. They give you half a tiny crab in there. Must be decoration cause there is no way to eat it. Not much meat on it anyway. The mussels in that soup were some of the best I've ever had. Truly. I would return here to try something else. The staff was attentive and friendly. Told us his name and asked where we were from. Seemed to genuinely care if we enjoyed our meal.
